  1. I disregard most + or - stories on the hub. too much emotion, and too many axes to grind. I'll do my own scouting
  2. Are us fun riders (non UCI licensed, like most here on the hub) then still allowed to eat fortified foods (like Marmite)?
  3. Dunno, also saw this huge leap in (whatever), which just proofs once again: : Logic & (self righteous) hubbers never mix well!
  4. Not associated with them, however I take issue with your eventual action. Rather not blab about your own transgressions on a public forum when lambasting others I ride a road bike and in the cradle to boot. However, I'm unaware of the 'war' between cars and bikes.... I'm aware of numerous road users, using whatever method of transport (vehicle AND motor vehicle) being very inconsiderate. Remember, that if you want to take the moral high ground your house better be in order! Splinter / beam in eye stuff. The weekly crit happens in an enclosed parking area, doubt this was it. Anyway, I wasn't there either so I'll refrain from pointing fingers, acting all righteous and all. Question: Did you lodge a complaint at SAPS? signed, IQ of triple digits
  5. Doubt that it will give you the flu. Most probably you were beginning to get sick (feeling down, lethargic, 'not well', overtrained, whatever...) Decided to get the Vit B jab so you can keep up the training, kept on pushing with the training, and then fell sick despite the vit B jab. last 'big' thing you before falling sick? Vit B jab, so it MUST be that that caused the flu! Rather rest more, and listen yo your body! Another question: Was it full on flu, or just flu symptoms? 6. I have two Raleighs. That and status dare not be mentioned in the same sentence!

    Cotic SA

They gave me a frame for free. Have no complaints whatsoever about it
  8. Where I grew up (rural Zululand), grown men do not wear shorts! Nor do they go barefoot. Only trousers and decent(expensive) shoes... Status symbols, all of them.... But then once in a while we all fall in the status symbol trap, even with 'our expensive bicycles' EDIT: So, do not let our(all of us [& 'them']) status symbols rule our judgement, nor our view of those who do not chase (the same) status symbols.
  9. IF I wear a 'watch' I wear a Garmin Forerunner 410. My Titanium Adidas is somewhere in a cupboard, long forgotten
  10. People who say they know, say it is ITB... Will have it checked out on Tuesday
  11. I'm out. Knee not allowing me to ride a bike. 60km on the road bike this morning ended with 30km riding back home being sheer torture
  12. The reporter is is just trying to stir the pot, and hopefully somebody will take him on, and then VOILA! Instant story / controversy. Just let the idjut fade away in peace. Ignore him for the troll he is!
  13. The latter is faster to get to the data. The first option works well for me though. Gives me a split second to start a few other programs
  14. I am greatly distressed that the ice cream has been dropped from the ride However if there is breakfast available I'll do some forgiving. Is the top of that 'little' hill part of the plan again?
  15. Hey Admin Since there are a few of us in hubland riding our bikes and posting to Strava, how about enhancing the [media] tag to show Strava widgets, like we can do with videos and Garmin Connect widgets? http://app.strava.com/clubs/the-hub-sa Some HTML for embedding widgets on web pages (from above): <iframe height='454' width='300' frameborder='0' allowtransparency='true' scrolling='no' src='http://app.strava.com/clubs/the-hub-sa/latest-rides/bf6120fac2a6f3c29d2ce8ef0d7f71abd06ac71f?show_rides=true'></iframe> <iframe height='160' width='300' frameborder='0' allowtransparency='true' scrolling='no' src='http://app.strava.com/clubs/the-hub-sa/latest-rides/bf6120fac2a6f3c29d2ce8ef0d7f71abd06ac71f?show_rides=false'></iframe>
  16. changing from 9 to 10 speed you have to change at least the following 3 items (FD & RD are compatible): 1. shifters (indexing is different, so no phantom shift like on the FD - see below) 2. chain (10 speed chain is narrower) 3. cassette (goes with the chain) If you have a triple chainring, and the 105 shifters are for a double chainring you'll loose one of the outside blades (limit screw setup will determine this). If you have double chainring Tiagras, and the 105 are triple shifters, you'll have a phantom shift on the front (normally when you want to change gears quickly!)
  17. Nobody would like to ride my Raleigh (Medium/18"), me included. I'd much rather ride the SS
  18. The roadie climb on the Jock stage 2: http://app.strava.com/segments/1798894
  19. How about naming all those climbs/segments? Four of them on one ride, all named R71
  20. Nance, if they declined your application let me know, and we start a rebel organisation. Truth be told, they accepted my application (with all of 5 MTB rides this year - 3 of which were up Breedts, the others were 'short' races against weekend warriors, grannies and schoolkids ), so I doubt they'll turn yours down!
  21. Export from Bryton, upload (from PC) to Strava?
  22. And effectiveness of brakes afterwards? Brake pads are not one of the items that are polished during a car/bike wash.
  23. Load a few workouts, one 4 months old, other 3, and one more recent. See which gives points before you go through the effort of loading everything since Jan, and possibly not get points for them. Alternatively just load from today, going back?
  24. Saw something somewhere about past 3 months only?
  25. With all respect w.r.t. pricing, durability & eagerness to stay with what is available, but glueing something into a new(ish?) frame to fit something other than what it is designed for... Maybe possible, but damn that is just hard up to stay with a specific set of cranks! How expensive for a BB30 BB? less than R1000? Worth it to stuff up a frame for that?
