  1. ????First time I've heard of Hub wrist bands. Where from?
  2. Everybody's out to make a buck. Where are your discount garages in your area. I noticed last weekend the Pick n Pay by the Sea Shell Garage in Durban had discounted prices.
  3. Send a PM to Johan Borman for a truly amazing write up on commuting to work, or search the Hub for the thread- I don't remember where it was.
  4. On Supercycling last night there was an MTB race which mentioned that one of the participants was the marketing manager of MNet. Remember the issue of Mr Price's sponsorship of cycling a couple of weeks ago? Their marketing manager explained on the Hub Mr Price's position very clearly. Can any of the Hubbers contact the DSTV guys for their response in the same way?
  5. Yep. That was just me. Maybe I'll go the whole hog when I get back home to RSA.
  6. Mampara, when can we come watch your ART movies? For those who want but are worried about the price, the pricing strategy takes two things into account. First, Multichoice marketers know their strategy- they know that there are what they call the market leaders. These are the okes who want to be seen to be the first to have the new goodies to show off, and generally can afford to pay. They basically represent the first wave, and is a virtually guaranteed way of speeding up their break even point for the marketing costs incurred in launching the product. Then, the second wave comes, which is just beofre Christmas 2008, when the bonuses get paid and the kids are whinging and you (dad) pays up. Then there's the 3rd wave, sometime in the 3rd or 4th month of 2009, when you've got your salary increase for 2009, and you've managed to get most of your expenses under control (school fees, uniforms, sports kit, Argus is over, etc), and then you finally give in to the pressure and buy. Then there's the 4th stage, in which sales threaten to go quiet, and you start getting some specials to catch some of the ditherers in the net. Then there's the 5th stage, in Christmas 2009, when you will get more special deals to try to get your ront into their bank account. Otherwise, me, I can't understand why anyone wants to get something that will more effectively stifle any comm's between family members than it already is. I spend half my time channel surfing before finding something that is worth half and hour or more of my time at night- hence my hubbing.
  7. Lazy. Sometimes I get Lazy. Like yesterday, I returned from Durbs to Maputo. I could have got my wife to drive behind me while I got my bike out to ride in Swaziland. Then I thought no I'll ride on Monday (public holiday in Moz)- I just rotted in front of the TV most of the day! At least I got a ride in on Saturday Durb Ballito Durban.

    Speedi...

GT are you posting links to the complaints? Was he complaining about the price of something you were selling?
  9. Tell us about the bike and what you think caused the cracks. Will the experience influence the material of the replacement frame?
  10. Forgot to add- I'm a Durban boy, and that game was one of the most exciting I've ever seen.
  11. Thank you baaie Hagar, thank you. And to think that I nearly didn't see this because its "an old pic"!!!!!
  12. Never seen the pic or Hagar's H one before.

    What BB

But, but....that's like Ferrari admitting to using Lucas electrics... Yeah, I like it and about bloody time. I knew we'd eventually convert these Catholics and make them see their evil ways. These Catholics may have converted their BB's, as long as they don't convert from the best groupsets in the universe by copying those others that are less blessed than theirs.
  14. Great. I can read stories like this anytime. Here's to you Hog- Cheers.
  15. I don't use an iPod, the main reason being that I don't have one. I cannot see myself riding with music in my ears, and I would be very wary of anybody in the bunch using one and stay away from him. Cheers.
  16. Pierre Tostee's fist love will always be surfing. But the correspondence on this thread evolved into a brilliant one, with the factual information provided by the Mr Price Marketing Manager. I think it should bring us Hubbers back down to earth with regard to comments made, often in a joking way, tongue in cheek, as we share our thought with fellow hubbers, but sometimes misinformed . But for the responsible initiative by Colonel and Sean Badenhorst, I think that many Hubbers would have signed off ignorant of the facts and with a jaundiced view of a very successful company that is very committed to sports. Thanks for the info Clynt, and well done Colonel and Sean.
  17. I found out a bit more. Model shops can order them for you, but the guys I spoke to said that they could only order a complete set of about 12 models, and some of the models would just sit on their shelves. I would just want the road bike and MTB replicas, and what they have are like the old style commuter bikes which don't interest me too much. I got mine at R69 about 4 years ago.
  18. Bakkies are best. My bakkie with one of my mates in Moz, loaded up with 2 road bikes and one MTB. Would carry 5 bikes easily with room for luggage and 5 people in the cab. Then below shows how I clamped the road bikes by the handlebars, using holdfast clamps. Ignore the curious cat. Just note that some bins are shorter than others. Like Toyota double cab is shorter that Mazda or Mitsubishi Colt.
  19. Is Terrence Parkin swimming or cycling? PS Skye- thanks for the comment on my new avatar. I posted the pic of my Yin on that thread if you're interested.
  20. Our administrators have a lot of work to do. Organise proper coaching, glaomourise the sport- like more pics of our lady cyclists hugging their bikes. Make our cyclists national heroes instead of headliners only in the cycling press and Supercycling. Whew- its a bit late. Too hard to start outlining the entire sports strategy for the country at this time .......
  21. And the tyres come off.....
  22. These These are my other 2 mini bikes, the one of which will be well known to many, since they were handed out at Argus expo. The other is a Cannondale Tri replica- haven't been able to find other models. Can anyone give us a heads up on this?
