  1. Just started- fantastic stuff.
  2. 11?? Wow- you're the MAN. But what are they? I have 5, getting a 6th for Christmas from Wifey.
  3. Just switched on.
  4. Ok- that's a good point- I therefore take it that you can't use those removable brackets on Campy chains? Which makes it even more NB that I get the 11-25, even if I order from overseas or wait for local delivery.
  5. I am getting a Chorus 11 speed cassette. Ideal would be a 11 - 25, but seems the only available is a 12 - 27. I thought this would be OK because I would use the 12 - 27 for hilly rides and races, and then replace the cassette with my Campag 11 - 23 for the fast flatter rides. This means having to change the chain as well to accommodate wear, unless there is compatibility between the cassettes for the chain and I mix it ofteen enough to get similar wear. Questions: Can I use an 11 speed chain on a 10 speed cassette? Is it compatible? Does anyone know where I can get an 11- 25 cassette for a Chorus 11? Practical experience on this answer is important, because I know the 11 speed chain is 5,5 mm and the 10 speed is 5,9 mm. Common sense suggests that I can't, but I need to know the real life experience to prove or disprove the "common sense." I can't use a 10 speed chain on a 11 speed cassette, but maybe there will be no loss of performance the other way round.
  6. Ah, its a lady. Does she deserve that we respect her anonimity, or should we urge her to come back because we are all poorer for her absence?
  7. Haven't seen Holy Roller for a few minutes.
  8. I haven't seen Holy Roller for a few minutes.
  9. Bought Bachman Turner Overdrive at Look & Listen - Best Of- for R33!!!! Stayed Awake All Night comes to mind.
  10. Contact Glen Campbell at Cycle Boy's tel 011 391 8144 and on his cell 084 575 1122. I'm buying a CKT 258 frame off him, and he's freighting it to Nelspruit where I will pick it up. Can't wait.
  11. Not anymore.
  12. Yoh!! Brighter-Lights, you hot shot. Reading your post made me realize that my suffering during my training is wimpish, and I can do a lot more if I want. Thanks for an amazing post.
  13. hehehe. Made my own popcorn! This time I took the trouble to cut and paste etc. This comes from a very objective report in the Campag 2009 range catalogue. PM me with your email if you want a copy. There are other comparison tables in the document which will expand your horizons. The Bicycling comp was done before Super and the 11's came out. C'mon, where are the Campag lady and Shimano lady photo's.
  14. Heres a comparison table. CAMPAGNOLO SHIMANO SRAM Super Record 11 --- --- Record Dura ACe Red Chorus 11 ----- ---- Chorus Dura Ace ---- Centaur Carbon Ultegra SL Force Centaur Alumini Ultegra ---- Veloce 105 Rival Ppl get emotional about this. Campag supporters are passionate by nature. Shimano supporters are also passionate, but they tend more towards hysteria. The best comparison I have seen between Campag and Shimano was on the Hub, before your time S2L. Perhaps someone can post the photos of the Campag woman and of the Shimano woman, so you can get a clearer idea of the difference. Value?- just get onto the CWC site and check out their prices.
  15. My best mate is a well known builder in Durban. He's fond of giving his opinion, very strongly, then finishing off by saying "trust me, I'm a builder", with a straight face. Re doctors. I know that doctors normally have hectic hours and lives, and do their best most of the time. I would not like to be in a profession where my routine decisions involve life and death. That's why a doctor mate of mine says that he should have been an opthalmologist or a dermatologist, because you never get woken up in the middle of the night by some hysteric complaining of an ear ache which he thinks is a symptom of a kidney stone, or something else stupid, and patients walking into your practice demanding attention then taking months to pay the bill. But you get the occasional one, like the physician who left his patient on the exam table, naked, while he talked to a locum on the phone in his office about doing the hospital rounds while he was in Greece on holiday. Then coming back into the room and not diagnosing the spastic colon, which a GP did later that day within one minute! His bill was NOT paid.
  16. Don't hesitate about your decision on the 105. This is the workhorse of Shimano, has the same trim functionality of the Ultegra and DA (ie, you can adjust the front derailleur to prevent the chain rubbing by pushing gently on the lever), just weighs a little more, ie you would finish the 94.7 about 45 seconds slower, if that, and is actually more durable than the DA or Ultegra. We get DA, Ultegra, Record and Chorus because we can, and because of the brag factor, and big toys for big boys syndrome. But anyone can hold their head up high with 105, which anyone who really really knows will tell you is totally underrated. 105 ranks with Veloce (Campag) and SRAM's Rival. Price wise 105 is a no brainer. You can get 2 for the price of one DA, and nearly two for the price of Ultegra. But don't touch Sora or Tiagra. These are the supermarket special gruppos and on the LBS low end bikes, and using them is like getting a good ride from a grunt, but you would keep her out of the public eye as much as possible..... .
  17. Thanks for coming through guys. I've been umming about a decision to buy a frame for weeks now, and I have decided. I think if the frame is good enough for Neotel and the pros in France, as per the link, its good enough for me. I have stayed away from pubs for enough time to have accumulated some cash to spoil myself. I called Glen- very helpful, and for anybody else interested, he's getting new stocks in 4 or 5 weeks time. I need to wait for that stock to get the integrated stem and handlebar, then convert my groupset from my Giant, get some other bling, and I will have a new ride. PS- howzit Crow- managed finally to get a work repair stand- a BBB, not as good as the one you had, but it will do.
  18. OK. Got all the answers from the website posted by Super mil. Thanks a mil, Super.
  19. Solomon's at the 94.7 show was offering the Record long cage derailleur and the Record ergo levers for R4000. I left it. They would still send it to me if I changed my mind. I take it from the posts then that the long cage isn't the most suitable for a road bike cassette running off a double chain ring, and I should therefore stick with the short cage?
  20. I'm looking for the the pros and cons of a short cage versus a long cage rear derailleur. You can get the options for Campy Record.
  21. That's interesting. Is it the same frame at Planet X? Just spoken to Glen on 084 575 1122, and he tells me that its Neotel's choice of frame for 2009. I've reserved a CKT 258 for myself. But at 7k I don't mind if its pearl white.
  22. Thats the penguin from Happy Feet.
  23. http://www.ckt-carbon.com/index.php Found this link. Would you buy this frame and at what price? I'm still astounded that something that weighs 1000grams costs over R12,000!
