Excuse my ignorance but I'm not sure if I have one of these boards. I got a board for the 947 mtb ride, is this an SAS board? Can't keep up to date with all these different boards and chips and companies changing names or buying each other out. More tiring than the races.

The fitter I am, the less I cramp. Thats all I know.

The board itself must have broken because the cable tie and holder were still intact.

These have to be the WORST timing chips ever created. Used one last week for the Montecasino Classic via the zip tie/holder jobby that I was given and that ended up coming off in the middle of the Cradle after hitting a bump, along with that result. Yesterday I decided to rather put the chip in my pocket and play it safe and lo and behold I have no result yet again. There isn't even a proper contact method on their 'site'. Please can we rather have ONE PERMANENT timing chip thats used for all races that is actually reliable and not a piece of utter *** designed on a MS DOS platform In 2024 surely this is not a big ask. Rant over.

For me it was the generous 5 toilets for I don't know how many people as well as the late start. The announcer preferred to focus on making jokes and talking *** instead of actully clearly announcing who was starting and where to go. I must say the cost of these races is becoming a bit obscene and I won't be doing as many as I'd like to. It was well marshaled though so big ups to those involved there and I do realise thats where most of the cost goes, it definitely wasn't for the medals.

I can't believe anyone can even try and defend this. It doesn't matter if drivers of other vehicles take chances and behave like tools because they have 1 500 kg of metal plus around them to protect them. As cyclists we can't afford to take these chances. The law clearly states ride in single file, it doesn't matter how much space we think should be logically assigned to us on the road FFS.

Such a pity, I keep hoping they'll reopen some of the trails. The best trail park in Gauteng IMO.

Take it up with Trek South Africa if you haven't already, I'd even go as far as contacting their head office overseas.

You're right I'd rather spend less money on a poor job so I can lug the bike up and down back to the shop for them to try and fix it properly and waste my time and money that way. If this were the case then rather quote two prices, a cheaper price for a half ass job or a more expensive price for a thorough job. The last minor service I paid over R600 and the only 'parts' included there were lube and bike wash. I'm pretty sure that didn't take anywhere near an hour so quite frankly I don't believe cost is the issue, quality control and people actually checking work carried out before the bike is released, is more the issue. But what do I know, I'm just a client spending monry trying to get a bike fixed. Anyway I've hijacked this thread enough with my own ranting.

Bike servicing and repairs are not cheap, so its not the client paying peanuts. Quite frankly I'm not interested in the politics behind the scenes. The only way forward is for clients to pay for the courses themselves and learn to do their own repairs. This is what I'm doiing anyway. If bike shops just want to focus on sales then they should do just that and be honest about it.

Good luck with this, the quality of bike shops has reached an all time low in my experience.

That was the Festive 500 that ended on New Years, there is also the Versus Back to Base challenge thats running from 1 to 10 January to also rack up 500 riding km's. or 50 running km Personally I was only interested in the first challenge, when I have to start renaming activities to suit the sponsor then I couldn't be bothered.

I see people are uploading virtual rides so worth a try anyway, if e-bikes are acceptable then so should indoor I guess.
