  1. Grinding cup.... and small angle grinder..... AND some hardboard protection for the wall and floor - grinding cup is a super aggressive wire brush... will take skin off to the bone faster than you would believe possible - so eye and hand protection are a must - and if you potentially have lead based paint too - then breathing protection as well.
  2. Good plan - just like cadence buying a GS3.... hurts in the beginning, but worth it... Wayne Oberholster has a sette - think he posted a few pages back about the fake aeropress... he likes it... https://www.facebook.com/MoreFlavour/?hc_location=ufi is his show and just to keep you on the edge of your seat waiting... http://www.perfectdailygrind.com/2016/05/interview-baratza-sette-revolutionizing-grinder-technology/
  3. OK if you are not in a hurry - probably the same 38mm burr that many small italian and spanish grinders use - expect about 20 - 30 sec or more to grind 1 pf - this gets old very quickly - and in truth I don't think it's the kind of grinder that you will be happy with for more than 6 months - it's a great candidate for an early upgrade - and that inevitably costs some cash... http://onlinecoffeeshop.co.za/shop/coffee-grinders/compak-k3-touch-demand-black-domestic-commercial-coffee-grinder/ is about the minimum entry level for a year or two - imho - yes - I know it costs more - and at that price I would rather wait for the Sette, because it is sure to be about there too.
  4. My own worst enemy.... still drooling over a monolith... maybe...
  5. 3.5k electric is probably a backward step from the porlex for espresso - be patient...
  6. Import 3 - sell 2... Personally I think it's hit and.miss with 3.5k elextric grinders -mostly miss for espresso...
  7. Orphan espresso Lido 3 - makes a porlex look tired- or if you can make the number - a pharos- best hand grinder ever... ask my brother who annexed mine...
  8. If you are making the grind looser then you don't have to have it running strictly speaking - but in practice I find it easier when running for both courser and finer adjustments - but there is for sure some waste - I normally just collect it and use it in the filter machine from time to time - fine for non discriminating guests - also works fine in a bialetti pot which seems is not particularly fussy on grind. In your case I would try to find equivalent grinds on both grinders and see if there is a discernable taste difference - if not then the Krupps would become a brew grinder and the sj revert to espresso only.
  9. You can use the sj - but going back and forth to espresso settings will be a pain - remember to run the grinder when changing settings
  10. Yes
  11. It's OK- you can pay me 7k and I will keep my 26ers.....
  12. This is a safe place - you can now admit you are a girl......
  13. HX machines use a lot more water than dual boilers - the water dance is not necessary on a db at all. The lelit is substantively different to the isomac dual boiler - just look at the boiler sizes... http://www.isomac.it/model.asp?id=38
  14. True - and it has pretty small boilers - 300ml for the brew and 400ml for steam - clearly not designed for catering, but should be fine for home use - provided you don't like BIG milk drinks.... The upside is that it is pretty small - I quite like small machines intellectually....
  15. http://capecoffeebeans.co.za/products/expobar-office-leva-eb-61-dual-boiler-pid-espresso-machine http://onlinecoffeeshop.co.za/shop/espresso-coffee-machines/crem-expobar-office-lever-brewtus-p-i-d-dual-boiler-domestic-espresso-coffee-machine/ I would also suggest a call to koldserve..... edit - and he will have to decide on a rotary pump with a direct connection or a water tank with vibration pump If he can plumb in - the rotary is very nice to have it's quieter.... And then there is this one - don't know a thing about it unfortunately - but the price is good. http://onlinecoffeeshop.co.za/shop/espresso-coffee-machines/lelit-diana-dual-boiler-dual-pump-pid-1-group-domestic-espresso-coffee-machine/
  16. Are you going to pay in the cash difference?
  17. Expobar perhaps - they have a db locally for about his price bracket - I see Isomac have also released a dual boiler single group machine that should be roughly in his price bracket. BUT DONT FORGET THE GRINDER....... a db without a quality grinder is a waste - My current favorite is this one... https://www.kafatek.com/index.php/monolith/
  18. Placed your order yet?
  19. LOL... wonder where he might put it..... of course - crushes on Greg are reserved for Hayley-Ann.... I never understand why people can't call and talk to other people these days.... solves a LOT of issues very simply.... if you have a problem, pick up the phone and ask for the boss.... works most of the time....
  20. Can I suggest picking up the phone and calling them.....
