  1. the southern side of Cape Town has been badly affected by the recent fires. most if not all the mtb riding areas are closed indefinetly. your better option and variety meeting your needs , i would say the stellenbosch area.
  2. thanks for the advice guys. i opted not to take the 24 - 105 L based on 90% of the research saying its not ideal for the 70D with its cropped sensor. the full potential is obtained on the full frame camera. the search thus continues
  3. hubbers advice needed; i have the following : Canon 70D 18 -55 STM lens 70 - 300 L lens 100mm 2.8 L Macro lens i am interested in getting a walk around lens for everyday type of shooting . i got offered a good 24 -105 F4 L series lens for R6250 any advice good or bad is needed on this lens, bear in mind the lenses i already have. or what do you suggest thanks
  4. never owned anything but shimano!!!!! = see the light brother - you living in the dark ages

  6. Wow. Thats some cool pics. One day when i am big
  7. not a photographer at all never mind a newbie. so i splashed on the 70d & 18 -55 STM. my wife is set on the 70 -300 L zoom - was at Orms and compared this to the Sigma 18 -300 - Canon just better from an operation point, i think. want to invest in quality items that need not be replaced for any silly reason. any thoughts / advice.
  8. Some ouks here need to go play some netball. This is the first time in more than 20yrs the race is going to be shortened. If its your first time, well tough, that part is your fault, you missed out of many years of good organisation . Like having some twat ride your derailler off, things happen. Get over it. Support the race, support the people battling to save lives and property. Support the City of Cape Town for standing together. Most of all enjoy the ride after watching the Stormers thrash the Sharks
  9. some white socks will also be great. they tend to be very scarce lately.

  11. the age old classic saying needs to be practiced more and not just preached ...ie DONT judge a book by it's cover.
  12. look again - it has two securing points. one right below the saddle as well. you will be standing all the way.
  13. the Stihl is worth much more

  15. are you guys stocking 43.5 or any half size Sidi or is this still on special order with months of waiting
  16. you did nothing wrong. 1.he was / is a prick for his attitude 2. he must look ahead and plan his path 3.finally he needs his brakes checked.
  17. the groupset will not fail you, the frame - well ..?
  18. walked into the V&A Nespresso on the weekend and opted for my usual dose of s good cuppa. was told that its more a coffee tasting bar now than a coffee bar for their customers. no more free coffee as before when did this policy change
  19. go the Chorus route.- might be a touch heavier but worth the upgrade better lever/ grip is the main difference. 10sp is being replaced by 11sp in all the brands on the market - soon 10sp parts are going to become scarce and expensive. the first chorus was / is still alum. front and rear deraillers - this was changed to all carbon with steel bolts instead of ti. the gearing of the 11 gear opens up a range of gearing options - depending on your riding style and needs. it could be of benefit if chosen correctly.
  20. Sram is good for MTB . Shimano is good for fishing
  21. it would just be wrong to put anything but Campagnolo on the Oltre. here is mine.
  22. a brake system is a closed loop system. contamination is going to be caused by one of two things , either a leaking seal ( which should be causing a loss of fluid ) , or being contaminated by the atmosphere via the continuous heating and cooling down of the brake fluid. so if the seals are leaking replace them. ( possible brand fault ) it should not be necessary to be bleeding brakes every now and then, even if you riding everyday. this being said, if bleeding is done properly the lever feel should remain fairly constant until the boiling point of the fluid is reached and exceeded causing a soft lever and thus a loss of stopping power. ( that's the users fault not the the make of brakes ) NB:this is my 2c worth based on my experience with my bike and also in the motor / engineering industry. at the end of the day mine is and has been working just fine for the last 3years. maybe others are not that lucky
  23. just dont use the brakes
  24. been on XX for 3years, not a single problem. have not replaced pads or bleed the system in 3years as yet. i have a few mates rolling on XX and they were on Shimano. could it not be rider use perphaps.
