  2. i found that the Zipp pads flake off due to the heat from braking on long downhills and cause a powder like substance to be emmitted all over your frame not so noticeable on dark frames but very noticeable on my bike and white cervelo R3's
  3. oops double posted turtlek2009-03-26 13:54:43
  4. What that you have been using them forever or that you race and train alot????? hahaha no just kidding spidey is right i have had a few people rave about the Rav X brake blocks before and so far none of them have crashed in the rain thanks to using them!!
  5. Ian i used mine for close on 1 year and a half (my shimano ones last me one summer with a lot of rain) and i do quite a bit of road training in all type of weather the best part about them is that in the rain you dont get that black rubber gunk all over your bike and rim when you brake
  6. IF you have the cash get yourself some swisstop yellow brake pads they are pricey and not readily available fromn your local lbs but awesome for all types of carbon and aluminium rims
  7. ikaros you are one hundred percent correct the type of mineral oil you would be looking at is the paraffinic oil it is pinkish in colour
  8. you get different types of mineral oil and the one used in your cars gear box is a bit thicker than the one you use in shimano and avid brakes because of the size of the working parts in each item
  9. i have mineral oil that i use when i service my customers bieks but it will be a waste for me to send it to you rather try willie englebrecht (SP??) or cycle lab for a bleed kit
  10. I have had look keo's for three years and i will not buy any other pedal if i had the choice!!!
  11. Keith i rode a scott two years ago and really cant complain it has the right geometry for racing snakes and handles well on technical downhills and has a good component spec for the price but if you looking for decent spec at a better price my choice would be merida or GT
  12. gawenator even if they do bring in new rims they wont be compatible with your wheelset because if you take a look at the link you sent look at the exploded diagrams that you can get off there it will show you how the spokes fit into the rim and into the hub on your set of wheels they show that your nipples attach on the hub and that is how your wheel is trued where as the rim that they have offeren you is trued by means of the traditional way at the rim and then threaded into the hub by means of little threads in the hub there is no physical way to make either of the wheels compatible with each other and even if there was you would have a seriuosly weak wheel set that would break more often than you would be able to ride them
  13. These rims and spokes will not work because as far as i know the spokes are attached in a different manner on both wheels the 7800 model have the nipple on the hub if i am not mistaken?? while the 7801sl have the nipple on the rim therefore making them incompatible my suggestion would be to try locate someone tha thas a cheap set of 7800's or just ask cool heat if they have any other comatible rim possibly the 6600 or 5600???
  14. Things happen for a reason and they are definitely fortunate enough to only get 15minutes but i am sure max knew the consequences of his actions so i think both time penalties were valid
  15. This comes down to what happened a few years ago when i was working at a bike shop that imported Kuota bikes A guy walked in on a saturday and said he will never buy a Trek because the bikes break!!! So we asked him why and he said that he was riding along and he hit a pothole and all of a sudden his front fork dissappeared and he ended up in hospital he then continued to say that just fun would not replace the part because it was not covered in the lifetime warrantee???? so we do the calling to confirm this and they said it would have been covered if they didnt suspect that the bike was not set up correctly and that the headset was actually tightened To make a long sotry short this guy had built the bike himself without the proper tools and he had not tightened the headset properly making the whole situation his fault I am not saying that this problem that people are having with specialized is the persons fault but you also can not say that you will never buy a bike because they all break Simple fact is that you will never get an indestructable bike and there will be bikes that are substandard according to the manufacturer and that is why you get global recalls by companies such as cervelo, trek, specialized and raleigh it doesnt mean that they are bad bikes it just means that they had a dodgy batch!!
  16. Wow thats hectic roders my max at 21 years of age is 203 measured so either your training partner is superhuman or just very special
  17. Wow people are touchy tonight hahahaha lighten up peeps!!! and ya that wheel arew officially farked i want to see the rest of that bike because there is no ways there was nothing else broken!!!
  18. also if you go to any BMW dealership ask the mfor the workshop foreman and then askj him to sell you oko because thats the sealant they use in the tires of BMW's when serviced
  19. Supermil in all three years of me using oko i use so much that it only spreads evenly over the whole tire after a few months and because of OKO's thick consistancy and weight people tend to shy away from it so for the first few rides if using the right amount it will feel like the wheel has a hop but after that it should be good to go
  20. WW hahahaha i dont know but you should feel the difference because when OKO spins in the wheel it feels like you have a really bad hop but when stans is in there it is a little bit better
  21. super mil go through to frits pienaar they should have oko and liquid latex i am not too sure about
  22. wannberacer i found that they were cr@p in singletrack with a whole load of trees they didnt get light enough quick enough so ended up taking them off and getting mud in the eye my girfriend loves them so she uses the photocromatic lenses for driving
  23. A brand new set of easton EA90sl will be ten times better just because you wont have issues with spokes and nipples binding and they are easy to replace if you break one
  24. ? 2 yrs ago...crisis thats forever what happened between thenand now?? are your rudy projects the photochromic lenses or normal?? i have the normal lenses and the photocromatic i prefer the normal racing red lenses though
