  1. Moo2u you could also try getting two new pairs of gloves and alternating them as they might help relieve pressure on your hands in different areas and will prevent pain alternating your hands could mean moving them slightly off thier normal position and then back after a few minutes works for me at high speeds because i dont always have time to move my hands drastically also try flexing your fingers into a ball and then extending your hand as much as possible a few times durin a ride maybe just before taking a sip from your bottle or just as you reach the top of a hill gives that extra range of motion to your hands when on the bike so you dont become lazy with stretching your fingers
  2. It would have nothing to do with the fact that anybody who rides campy will have hand issues dude as the attachment point of the shifter is off the bars and more than likely the pain is caused by the handlebars being the problem and the shifters being the solution!!!!
  3. It can be due to a range of things the worst one being Carpal tunnel syndrome but lets start with the easiest ones first... YOur gloves do they have a pad on them that is one piece or is it a pair of gloves that has two distinct pieces of padding one under your little finger and towards the bottom of your hand and one under your fingers?? secondly are your shifters and bars level with each other when you look at them from the side (in other words is there a flat interface where they connect to the bars??) thirdly where is the place on your bars where you hold onto them the most??
  4. Ohhhh, but she is so very fast No boris its all the training you do to get up the hills with that tank dont worry i know how hard it is i ride an 11kg HT
  5. They called Op site and they work well with or without the brown stuff basically all that is required when you replace them is for you to dry them and remove dead skin so that it is not going to cause infection while under the plaster and they must not be cut under any circumstance!!!
  6. They are called op sites and they range in size from 5cm long and wide to about a metre hahaha and they are cheap as well
  7. No' date=' no, no! Not methylate!Do not let those wounds dry! Keep them moist with a mixture of Betadine and Vaseline paste (mix the two) and keep them dressed for 7-10 days. Change the dressing daily. I guarantee you that in two weeks you will only see minor remnants of this crash! [/quote'] sean i was always told to use mertyloate maybe for my next crash i will try your method
  8. I can agree with pickles being pissed off because once again it is a familiar name in cycling that was involved being acsis and by no means am i condoning this guys actions that caused the crash but the thing that most people forget about elite and other age groups racing is the speed and effort that goes into it..... WOw i cant remember how many times i have been switched, cut off, and basically just pushed to the curb NOT only by development riders but by guys in actual pro teams... BUT i can agree the riders being brought through the ranks in the acsis squad are always an issue!!! funny enough it happened to me and three other riders on sunday at the ride for sight by a certain podium finisher on the day being one of the jae brothers ok so we didnt fall but we anticipated what was going to happen and that made us all better off for it NOT saying that this is the case but sometimes pickles it just so happens that there is a lapse of concentration from the rider that went down maybe due to fatigue, speed or a distraction I am really sorry that your son is hurt and i hope the wounds heal quickly but remember that it is racing and you get crashes at all levels of the sport not due to development only it is one of the risks that one takes as soon as he steps over that cross bar P.S. use a bit of merthyalate on the wounds if you can find some it will help out tremendously
  9. I'll admit to that in that case... glad to see you admitting your problems buddy!!!!!
  10. Now that should NEVER happen that sounds like there was an over zealous rider who was trying to shift from his/her grannyring up to the big blade to try get down the hill quicker
  11. A twisted chain all comes down to bad shifting and over eagerness most commonly happening with newbie cyclists and tandems although a certain "very experienced" ex pro does this on a regular basis It cant be blamed on the equipment but more so on the rider and or weather conditions, For example at sabie X a lot of mud can cause major havoc on your derailer and shifting is not precise so if you had changed gears on your rear sprocket to an easier gear and without realising that your RD had not moved yet shifted up into the big ring at the front the effect of your chain moving too fast in opposite directions could cause the chain to twist another reason why it would twist is that the derailer is not set up properly and the limit screw is not in enough causing the derailer to over pull the cable and the chain getting stuck in between the derailer and the chainringturtlek2009-02-20 07:01:34

  20. Nuwbie while i was in cape town last year after the argus i was intrigued at the prospect of riding boyes drive and then riding along the coastal road and comparing the times fair enough not an exact measure of how much longer it should take but i think it was pretty decent seeing as i am not a climber in the end it came back with my garmin reading that i had only done the boyes drive route 4minutes slower than the coastal road also take into account i had flu so could be quicker if i was well, there was also a horrendous south easter and i was fresh and had not just gone all the way from the start so taking into account all of those by my calculations boyes drive will be the difference of a sub 3 to some but a difference of leading group and chasing group to guys like me all in all taking into account fitness levels that first little kick up onto boyes drive will have a few slower riders walking and helping them to lose more time all together My humble opinion add 5 minutes to your time from last year and you should be safe to say that would be your time unless you are fitter and stronger you should have a very similar time to last yearturtlek2009-02-19 11:33:45
  21. Give it a bash dude i am sure if you make enough garmin might buy the patent from you but it would be pretty expensive but i dont think it is as expensive as buying a new garmin everytime a taxi decides to jump on top of one!!
