  1. In his current form, I guess he can win ? world champion medal in his age group. He is as good as our current pro riders.
  3. Ja nee wat, Oom Chris weet wat hy doen. :-)
  4. ""the dude was on the wrong side of the road..." Connie, I do not agree, you can only overtake on the right hand side of the road. Yes, he was in the on-coming lane, we all go there when we overtook. The difference is, he pass while he did not have a good view of whats coming from the front. He made a terrible mistake, Looking at the picture were the bakkie stand, it was not at a solid white line. You can only overtook on the right accordingly to our law. (unless its a dualway)
  5. I read in the burger there is still 2 in hospital. One, a docter with a broken ankle and "blad been""
  6. supercycling last night said 4, but it was only 3
  7. Luke, this guy openly said that he overtook the lorrie, he did not denied it, he also say that he did not see the oncoming cyclist. So, yes, maybe because of the light he could see the horizen and did not see a on coming vehicle, si he take the change. He never saw the cyclist (that was much closer) We are not defending him, you cannot punish him because we "want to make example"". its a case on its own and you have to look at it in that way. Ok, last question.... Did the Lorrie Driver stop? And what is in his statement. This will be crutial to the investigation.
  8. Good stuff Groot Lem Now my question, Will all cyclist who wears this black arm band also sign a code of conduct that they will obey the traffic rules at all times when out on the road. Surely, we as cyclist cannot have it only our way, and when tragic strike, we are first to share our feelings towards motoris. When will we, the cyclist, start to show that we will change our behaviour on the public roads. or do we wait for motorist to wear arm bands first?
  9. Guys, it was a accident, do you really think he went out to ride into a group of cyclist? Come on, he made a mistake by overtaking a lorrie in a dangerious situation. He did not plan to ride into a group of cyclist. He stays in that area since birth, he is not a flight risk Lets leave this, this topic is really not helping anyone
  10. I read the article in Die Son yesterday ""Drywer praat oor ongeluk" There is even a photo in, the omie was on his way to work and he say it openly that this will haunt him till he die. After reading it, I really felt sorry for him as well. Yes, he made a mistake, but looking at his picture, I cannot help to feel sad for him. So last night, I not only prayed for the families, I also prayed for him and his family. He do not look like a criminal or bad person, it was just a old omie, who made a terrible mistake.
Was dit moedswillig, Was dit bloot nalatigheis, was dit net 'n ongeluk?
  13. go to Forums > Search and put Argus in your search critearia (only for the last month) you'll get a couple of discussions https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=78488popeye2010-03-04 01:43:21
  14. Niklas, you asked how was last Sundays Boys drive (G Group) compared to the E Argus group? Similar if you asked me. Guys will just finish a very fast Blue Route effort, they know they cannot go to fast as Smitswinkel and the first Chapmans peak will take it toll and the worker till here will be in trouble. Suikerbossie dont play a role, everyman for himself up there. Remember, The argus groups are 500+, dont go out and be a Rambo, (unless you wanne work), go with the group over Smits and keep in the group at least till you get to the first Toll gates at Chappies, Som,e guys goes super fast downhill, nothing you can do if they ride away on the downhill, if you over cook there, you walk home or get a lift in the ambulance. Your main aim should be to be in the bunch untill Chapmans peak top. By than, the first 20 F Group guys will come from behind and drag you home.
  15. I agree, Boys drive is not that difficult. What makes it difficult is the hills before. If you drop off the bunch on the UCT Hills and the big hill at Wynberg, than you have to go full flight down Blue Route. Its actually that Blue Route effort that determine your climb up Boys Drive.
  16. I looked at the Fox CD I got with my shock, but could only see you get it in 6 lengts
  17. Dave, I dunno what you asked Do you want to know the length (centre tot centre) (eye to eye)of the RP2 or RP3 fox?
  18. I had a Zini in those years. Blue and white one
  19. I will do te following: 1) Go to a bike shop that stock Silverback and make sure about your bike size, price etc. 2) If you like what you see, get hold of the guy and go ahead
  20. just make sure the same groupset (as in bicycling) is on this bike. Bicycling price's is for stock standard.
  21. Hi You get tubes with slime in it. Asked the shop if that is what they put in. If you get new slicks on, I dont think you should worry about punctures. The roadies before you should clean up all the little things lying around in the road. Make sure you pump them to the max (as indicate on the sidewall), your MTB will handle like a roadbike, light and as if you are on road tires. If the sludge is in the tube, yes, be carefull when deflating, it will spill from the valve.Onve it spill out, just pump it again to put air back through the valve. Dont worry, you will work it out once you get your hands on it. popeye2010-02-23 01:38:39
  22. on the note of affimative shopping, this weekend is that southern ride on sunday, be very carefull when leaving your bike outside the toilets The locals pitch in cycling gear, looks like they are part of the event, and while you go into the toilets, they get on your bike and just blend nicely into the crowd till they are gone.
  23. I got that as training wheels, solid and best value for money
  24. nope, UST. When you are on day 6, almost mentally stuffed , you dont want to sit fixing punctures. Go UST and have piece of mind. Not me or you will really feel the weight difference. Oh, come back and tell us. Passed Monday I post that I got it at R320 (excl vat) per UST from Chris Jr. So beat that price if you can. check this: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=76814&KW=320 .popeye2010-02-19 07:06:07
