  1. Y2K in Colesburg in August, awesome 3 day event with beautiful scenery through the karoo.
  2. There are a couple of good deals on here. Scrolling through I quickly found this one that might work for you. All depends on how much travel you want and what terrain you will be riding most. https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/611127/merida-96600
  3. General rule of thumb. If someone sends you a pic of 'their' ID to gain trust, walk away. 100% scammer tendency
  4. Garmin Forerunner 35 is a very good and cheap option.
  5. I dont think it will be sold here, I may be wrong but SA rarely gets the rowdy hardtails.
  6. I am 1.94 and 132kg, a good hardtail is a very good starter bike and is more than capable to handle everything you throw at it. If you are looking for a dual suspension I suggest getting one with a better rear shock as the entry level shocks cannot handle us heavy guys(my opinion).
  7. You would be able to get an older 29er hardtail for that price. Maybe have a look at Avalanche, they have an entry level 29er with a 1x10 (I think) for around R8k
  8. I have a foamo in my rear wheel. Worth it if you absolutely have to have protection for your rim but a proper cushcore or vittoria air liner would do better. My brother in law changed tyres and removed his foamo and in his attempt to bunnyhop onto a curb destroyed his rear tyre. I dont know what would have happened if the foamo was present but I assume it would have helped.
  9. Is the chain not too long? Maybe the deraileur is maxing out before tensioning the chain
  10. I also could not get it off with a pressure washer.
  11. My old tyres did the same thing. I thought I was using cheap sealant but have seen this build up on other tyres that were using different sealant. I even tried cleaning it out but I could not get anything off.
  12. You can look at the Norco Fluid 3 aswell. I think it retails for around R33k.
  13. Fark me, hopefully the damage to the car was not caused by a bunch of bicycles and riders! Condolences to their families
  14. My Trek Roscoe frame cracked and I had no issues getting a warranty on the frame. The point is that all frames CAN crack no matter what brand or price. Trek will always have my support
  15. I saw one 650bx3.0 but it was not on special. It was R1150
  16. This is the one in Bloemfontein, but I assume that all Spez dealers should be running this special
  17. Hello guys, thought I would share that my local Spez dealer has a special on 27.5+/650b tyres. Riding a plus tyre I know it is difficult and expensive to find some decent tyres. I bought two Specialized slaughter 27.5x2.8 for R300 each. They are E-bike ready and apparently has a harder casing. According to the owner Specialized has more stock available. Just thought I would share this awsome deal.
  18. It works like a bomb. Had stubborn stickers on a old car I purchased and could not get the glue residue off. Tried everything from petrol to thinners, turpentine, parrafin and eventually decided to just wash the car with blixem to get all the chemicals off and saw the glue disolving. Awesome product
  19. I had a 800XL and lost it on a camping trip. Was an awsome little light. Used it as a secondary on my helmet. I hope you get your light fixed/swapped out
  20. I dont know your level of fitness but I suggest you start slow and keep a decent pace. Lots of people blast off at the start of the race and gets overtaken later looking exhausted
  21. Not much to ride there. They have the short loop at the start which is fun but only about 4km long. The longer routes are always closed. The one time we could ride on the longer route, the grass was so overgrown and the routes that we took (might have gotten lost, because of the long grass) didnt really go anywhere.
  22. Not alot of trails around here. On Brandkop is a few flowy trails which is quite fun. Inside Woodlands Hills estate there are alot of trails and singletrack routes which is IMO the best place to ride in Bloem. Some people like to ride at Sewe damme but it is very rocky and you cannot get alot of speed. That area is more suited for trail running than cycling. Happy valley has a short but fun route aswell. The bottom part is easy and flowy but the top part is a bit rough.
  23. +1 on the Garmin forerunner 35. I use one and it shows all the data you could need. 2nd hand market is flooded with them. Around R1000-R1500 depending on age
  24. If you are willing to wait a while then get the new Trek Roscoe. 65° head angle, 140mm travel en thru axle frame. Will be an epic bike in my opinion
  25. This feels like deja vu
