  1. 3h17 is a great run, Well Done Super annoying when the Organisers cant use a simple GPS device to get the race distance correct. 800m is a massive difference, almost a whole Pinetown detour... haha Deloitte was also about 250-300m long, no major train smash but surely its not that hard to get it right.
  2. Sunrise is exactly that... a Monster... I'm doing Deloitte next weekend for my Dose of Pretoria Hills. ODD is a nice race but if you not staying in Hartees you need to be on Saartjies Nek by4am or you wont make the start.. last year I left the west of JHB at 3.45am and didn't make the start... ran through the Start banner at 6.10 after parking and running 3kms to the start line. Not fun, Doing Two Oceans as my Extra Ultra this time round.
  3. Good Call in my Opinion I have run all my Comrades in them as I have had quite a few Calf Issues Compression Socks definitely hold it all together and stop the Cramping etc Not sure ill use them this year cos most of my niggles are behind me... touch wood.... But they definitely do help
  4. Sounds Like an ITB Issue to me http://sbrsport.me/2012/09/26/what-is-itb/ Read that Blog, and give Mike @ SBR a call in the bottom right hand corner. I had the same problem after Comrades this year, and Mike got me sorted and back on the roads within a few weeks
  5. 2 weeks and No movement on this Forum Everyone still ticking along in Feb until the real training starts on 1 March? Good to see Stretch is back into the full swing of things Anyone else doing Deloitte next Sunday?
  6. Haha, all the boys in the bunch we run with are sub3 marathoners, so the pace of a 3h20 is pretty chilled,,, However a Marathon distance is always far... after 30kms everything seems to ache no matter what pace you run at.... No such thing as an "Easy" Marathon or Ultra
  7. Sorry to hear you haven't been well, if there is any Upside at least its in January and not March/April. JC was great, new course is super fast and well organised as always. We must have seen your mate, we ran a chilled 3h18.36 in a RAC bus, picking up plenty of guys in the last 5kms and running them through to their B seeding's...
  8. Yep, ill be doing the Marathon, but just as a Long training run and not a race Luckily I have already qualified last Year so don't have to stress anymore about seeding's. Good Luck
  9. If you are a Member of a Club chat to the secretary, they will put you on a list for when people bail I know RAC help many many people each year
  10. Not at all, if ya really keen on doing it train like you have an entry When the Substitution window opens hundreds of people realise they bit off more than they can chew or get sick/injured etc and sub out. Think the Sub period opens mid April. Check the website I only decided to run Comrades after Oceans last year and got a sub.
  11. If you open to suggestions go see Mike at SBR Sport in Sunninghill He is a Kinesiologist http://www.sbrsport.co.za/ He does a Runners Leg assessment where he will Put you on treadmill and video you and tell you where all the problems lie and what shoes you should be in.. check out his Facebook page for references on the assessment. He will however probably tell you to ditch the Orthotics 90% of the pains we get are referred Pains from completely different places. ie I'm having major Achilles and calf issues which is coming from the stiffness in my Back and Glutes.. He also does Myofascial Release and Needles where necessary..
  12. This is the Link I have http://www.collegiansharriers.co.za/arthur.htm Seems to be organised by Collegian harriers and Hillcrest Villagers From info above, probably the same Long Run Below was the Info for the 2015 one, this year obviously goes the other way for the Down http://www.collegiansharriers.co.za/RouteTesterGN.pdf I do however find that Point Interesting. To estimate your Comrades finishing time take your recent 42.2km time and multiply by 2.42. In that Case I should be aiming for 6h41 haha
  13. I stalked you , 4h31/4h27 (comrades 2015 live tracker still available) Great Running, so sub 8.30 or 8 this time round...?
  14. Haha, that would be Brave Probably closer to the other way round... Half way 3h40ish and hopefully still run negative splits...
  15. Wow negative split on the Up is superb I hit Drummond in 3h50 and took 4h13 for the 2nd half to run 8h03
  16. Sub3.30 is a great run Batching at Comrades is irrelevant... Front of C or Back of B very similar If anything the C batch will help to go off conservatively, just don't lose too much time to cross the line.. I have a A seeding but I will either start at B or at the very back of A.
  17. Sounds Good, 300-320 in Jan is Solid, last year I only did 240kms myself in January and just under 1300km to Comrades... So I'm also stretching the limit a bit this year trying to find 33mins Good Luck for hillcrest, what kind of time are you looking for?
  18. Yeah should finish Jan with around 400, few more than planned but so far so Good. You also building up nicely Probably looking to max out with 2 or 3 weeks in April at around 125-130s JW is a mate of mine, we do a our Long Sunday runs together He's just finishing a 16 weeks block to go Sub3 @ Sasolburg... That's why I traded out to do JC and then pace him through halfway at Sasolburg in 87ish..
  19. Info on the Route Tester seems hard to come by at the Moment apart from its starting in PMB on the 17th April and heading to Hillcrest Harriers clubhouse on the Comrades Route If you get any more substantial info around times, etc etc please let me know,. We are gonna hire a Little Bus and come down from JHB with 12-15 of us so far...
  20. Yep all Looks correct Thanks for updating the List Good Luck with everyone's Qualifiers...
  21. Yeah anything under 7h29:59 I will take with a Smile
  22. Glad to see Most of you are still on track for the BigC as we enter marathon Season.. My Plans have changed a bit from that Excel Spreadsheet Looking for just 3 Marathons and 2 Ultras .... all slow and steady Qualifying was done in November so just a Build up and focus for 1 day only.. New plan... with hopefully a goal of 1850-2000kms from 1 Jan to Race day Sunday 31-Jan Johnson Crane 42 Saturday 06-Feb Sasolburg 21 Sunday 07-Feb Striders 32 Saturday 13-Feb Bronkhorstspruit 32 Sunday 28-Feb Deloitte - PTA 42 Sunday 06-Mar Vaal 21 Saturday 26-Mar Oceans 56 Sunday 17-Apr Route Tester 56 Sunday 24-Apr Slowmag 42 Sunday 01-May Colgate 32 Sunday 29-May Comrades 90
