  1. Hey Jason (bet Lance never felt like that ) In all seriousness, it sounds like you are fatigued and in need of a rest. Generally speaking, inability to get your HR to normal levels is a sign of fatigue and coupled with feeling low and sleeping poorly I would suggest that you take a few days off the bike completely and allow yourslef some time to recover as Fatty says. Overtraining is far more serious and you are not in that state but are probably "over reached" You will know when to get back to decent training because your body will respond and you will feel like riding hard again. Make sure you are eating and drinking sufficent cals as well. The sore quads are not generally a symptom but may simply reflect the hard efforts you have been putting in.BikeMax2006-09-27 03:41:55
  2. Cholesterol is to be taken very seriously - a high level needs controlling. Diet as well as genetics is a big factor. Do plenty of research and reading on the subject - the breakdown of HDL / LDL is very significant. Think yourself lucky that you tested and have time to take some positive action - many don't.
  3. Not to my knowledge - but not sure.
  4. 15 minutes before the start is a k*k rule if you are racing' date=' because you cool down waiting for the start, but at the same time you do need some sort of control. Problem is if you ?obey? the rule and stand in the start area there are always some guys who push the limit and warm up right to the last minute (and then push their way in, to the front usually), if they are late then tough! the race should start on time and the late comers start from the back or wherever. Reminds me of a incident that happened to me at XC National, Sub vets at George +/-2001.? I always arrive at or before the designated start time and usually bitch about the guys who don?t (cause by the time we start I have cooled down and they?re still lekker warmed up) ?anyway I rode up after hearing my name being called by the starter, but he did not see or hear my reply and he decided I took to long to come forward and told me to wait? the DB called up every rider and then once everyone had taken their place allowed me to enter the start ? I tried to go to my front row spot (was still open) but he would not let me and said I had to start at the back?. Needless to say I had a K*K race cause I got stuck in slower traffic. [/quote'] I think it is the only way to run things - you sign on 15 mins before and then stay close enough to the start to hear what is going on (or make sure you have a team mate doing so and a cell phone) There are many reasons why a race may start early by a few minutes or late and a rider needs to be close enough to be lept informed. If guys push their luck and are not there then, as happened on Sunday, they miss their start. What shoud not then happen is that all the riders who did start as instructed, then end up losing all points.
  5. I'll second that
  6. Not in question - the problem is that the official chose NOT to enforce the rule this week but did enforce the rule last week..
  7. He is just very disheartened - losing yellow and then working your ass off at Red Hill to win again - then to lose those points too becuase somebody did not get there in time..
  8. Those are very nice wheels - Zipp 303 rims if I recall correctly, but on AC hubs.
  9. I agree that it is a tough situation and I feel for Francois as he has the best interests of the riders at heart I believe. Hoever, if you run the races and administer the leages, and choose to take a very firm stance on the rules at the first race of the season - then I believe you have made your bed and now must lie in it. This means; 1. Making sure the rules are clear 2. Enforcing them consistently This is the responsibility of the race administration. We will be appealing the decision formally.
  10. We have been trying to sort out the Red Hill mess - as it stands it has been decalred a "no points " race due to the early start causing a few riders to start late. Guy Pike has won both races fair and sqaure; In the first he was denied his points due to the enforcement of the UCI rule re numbers (that had never been applied before) In the second he was denied his points due to the NON enforcement of the UCI rule re being present at the start 15 mins before the advertised start (that had never been applied before) The reason being given is that the number rule was in the league guidelines booklet but the start time requirements were not.... I have no problem with the fair and consistent application of the UCI rules under which we race but I do have a problem with the seemingly arbitrary enforcment of these rules. Because the race comm feels that it was unfair to start the race early and because the riders did not know they had to be there in good time - every one loses out (except the late comers of course) In the absence of a rule in the booklet that Francois provides then they must rely on the UCI rule and refer to that - the UCI rule is clear - you must be there at least 15 mins before the advertised start. We are pretty pissed off with the situation and would really like a clear set of rules to race by - not to be at the mercy of what interpretation the race comm feels like applying on the day.
