  1. Just thought of something else... Normal circular saw but with a home-made table. Plenty instructables around detailing the making of, and it's how it was done for a long time.... Also a lot cheaper... Edit: Nah, not gonna do that. Far better to just save up and get a proper one.
  2. BAHAHAHAHAHA! Actually, I take that back. It's much like a nervous laugh. It's funny, but only 'cos it's true!
  3. Now THAT is a workbench... Oh, what I'd give to have his shop!
  4. True... but yeah. Makita. Should be accurate out the box.
  5. This looks good... just pricing. Mehness https://www.metabo.com/com/en/tools/semi-stationary-tools/table-circular-saws/ts-216-600667000-table-saw.html
  6. yeah, but according to reviews on the web, it's prone to inaccuracies and the guide rails have far too much tolerance in them. If I pay R 10k for a table saw, I want that thing to be accurate... Unless it's been attended to, that is.
  7. This one? http://www.makita.co.za/css/images/MLT100-Slider.jpg
  8. VERY good idea. Thanks pants. Can put that under the car-port. But also pretty $$ to set up... Meh.
  9. The grains aren't in opposing directions ie they don't curve up then down up then down - same direction next to each other, which means it'll be prone to bowing. Learnt that the hard way
  10. Okay boys, so - table saw or circular saw. I DESPISE my current table saw (Ryobi POS) so am looking to replace it with something else. Problem being - table saws are expensive. I have my sliding mitre saw, so crosscuts aren't a problem unless the material is more than 300mm wide. And I don't mind working on trestles or a workbench, or with guide rails. I know that the table saw is more easy to use cos you can just set the fence and rip away, but TBH I don't see myself spending 8k - 10k on a single item just yet. Far rather spend that on 3 items. Thoughts?
  11. So you have a double garage in which to play. Bastard. VERY good mate of mine has a triple garage that's 2 deep for 2 of the bays. I hate him even more. Pity he's in Durbs, otherwise I'd be using it as a tool storage space and give him usage rights.
  12. ooh! ooh! ooh!!!!! https://www.facebook.com/110047409065721/photos/a.165900230147105.39972.110047409065721/1142043985866053/?type=3
  13. yeah, I've used the Makita before. Bloody awesome tool, that. Just R 3,500 all in. Suppose the quality is worth it though.
  14. Still a darn good price. It's going for R 14,800 on tools4wood which generally has good pricing.
  15. Power Tool Man, Ndabeni. Near Ellies on Avonduur Road. EDIT: When I bought my mitre saw, they said they also did that for a large range of tools. Think they do it in house.
  16. PREACHER! Forgot about that. Will start watching,.
  17. Wow, that's a good price. VERY good. And yeah, thought as much. Will see what I can get when I'm able to get them (ie when I have the cash) Top of the list is a Makita, but DeWalt or Bosch will do just as well.
  18. Hmmm... No, didn't upgrade. And you're right. 8 1/2" saw... My mistake.
