    Thing is you need a plunge saw to make it work properly. Plunging a straight up circular saw isn't really a lekker thing to do! Unless you're just doing it for end to end cuts..

    Just thinking now - which version of the XT crank did you buy? The one with the 50.4mm chainline or the one with the 53.4mm chainline for BOOST?

    Then I'd advise that you use the spacers that you've put on the crank arm so that the chainline is improved.

    Are there not spacers on the crank spindle? If there are, then put the drive side ones on the non drive side. The chain line with the 5mm spacers on the chainring is far better.
