  1. It's the only tyre I've broken a Crowbar tyre lever on. Yes. I did that.
  2. Ride Inn burger & Jonkers Weiss filled that void yesterday afternoon...
  3. that's another reason I like the potential of going electronic. No more pull ratios, no more cables. Just a simple upgrade of software and the cassette / chain. FAR more cost effective. EDIT: If only it were cheaper.
  4. Weirwolf is a lekker tyre, not sure about the nineline. All depends on the casing you got when it comes to durability.
  5. Hmmm... why didn't you come over and say howzit? And thanks. She's far more accomplished than I, is Penny.
  6. you need to. That Red trail (Bennet's Red / Red Phoenix) is riding BRILLIANTLY. If this is what it rides like after rain, winter is going to be fantastic. It's less technical than the Canaries, but DAMN fun at speed.
  7. LOL. No, it's my fitness. My 11-42 was absolutely fine up the hills. It's the git on board that needs the work!
  8. Something that's become apparent after yesterday's ride in Jonkers. I need more distance WITH hills. It was only ~25km, but the climbing killed me. My normal route around the greenbelts is about the same, but super flat. I need to change that.
  9. Jonkershoek, for a 4h20 ride and 850m climbing. Canaries, then twice up to the top for Red Phoenix. Epic morning out with Raydek. Red route is riding BEAUTIFULLY after the rain. Bring on winter!
  10. At the moment, the cage is the same length as the current xx1 & x01 & x1 & gx1 stuff, which means it goes no closer to the ground than current iterations, due to the way that the RD moves sideways, not diagonally. It stays in the same horizontal plane, with the upper jockey wheel moving in & rearward as you shift gears. X-Horizon, they call it. The only change in the RD is that hte upper jockey is slightly more offset (rearwards) so that it can clear the 50t without having to extend the b-screw too much.
  11. Cassette – $360 | €392 | £302Yes, it's expensive. But it's the same price (almost) as the current X01 / XX1 cassettes, and it's their top of the line option. It was never going to be cheap, with the amount of machining that goes into it. If you want a cheaper one, wait until the GX level one comes out, or just go for the 11speed e-13 cassette (9-44) at $309. It's clear that you're a hater, and you don't understand the reasoning behind it...
  12. both XX1 & X01 are Eagle. Eagle is their name for 12sp systems. XX1 is Gold themed, X01 is red. So it looks as if Jerome is running solid X01 Eagle.
  13. Gold one is XX1 Eagle, black is X01 Erm, no. Everything is Eagle. Definitely all Eagle. Look at the red cage inner, and the larger lower pully, as well as the new chainring. That's definitely the new one. Also, the recessed cage-lock and the hex-head clutch adjustment thing is a dead giveaway.
  14. and the chance of dropping or snapping a chain in said instance is also markedly higher...
  15. "Pro's won't use it, the 50t is just for weenies who can't climb" Say hello to Jerome Clementz, and his 38t front ring and Eagle cassette. EDIT: You can also see that he's used that 50t a fair bit. http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/2/photos/103205/s1600_EWSChile16_N3X9650.jpg?1458873380 http://p.vitalmtb.com/photos/users/2/photos/103204/s1600_EWSChile16_N3X9648.jpg?1458873379
  16. which line is this on? Don't recall that jump on Paarl...
  17. doiing Jonkers on monday, and tomorrow my wife has some shoots. So would love to, but can't...
  18. would have loved to join you guys, but I was looking after the gremlin as my wife did a stupid little jog thing...
  19. 'cos that's a road race. Road DNE MTB. In road, you may need those closely spaced ratios due to the minute changes in cadence and the need to get it just right, on flat terrain (no rocks etc) MTB - your cadence changes so damn quickly, the spacing doesn't matter as much.
  20. Why? No wires. No faff. No internal or external routing. A clean frame and bar setup. Bring it on.
