  1. TBH it's still very achievable. In my case - even if I were at the 1200 points per week requirement (which I'm not) 2 90 min rides per week @ 80% HR = 80% x (220-33) = 150bpm average. On my current loop, I'm averaging 166bpm. 600 points per... Easy. With base training though, as in the other thread, it becomes more difficult. You need to go for 90 minutes plus before it starts getting okay.
  2. You sure of your max at 189? Sure it's not higher than that? If not - then yeah. That highlights a real flaw in it. Cos you're definitely exercising... Let's see how quickly they adapt to a lower points allocation, and if they revert to a lower ma / vigorous setting.
  3. Same science teacher walked around the lab, turning on all the gas lines that were there for the bunsen burners, as he was talking to us. Just very surreptitiously. Went to the door, opened it and walked out, closing it behind him. Said - BTW - this is semi poisonous, so I want you to see what happens if you're a dipshit and think you're clever by turning one of these on one day... Let's see who drops first...
  4. Let's put this into perspective. The new points system combined with the watch was always going to change once the real data started coming in. Their metrics have already increased HUGELY wrt how active people are once utilising the system and watch, and in order to keep it relevant, they need to adjust to ensure that people remain incentivised to do MORE. More activity = less health risk = lower cost = better premiums etc etc. Given that they're not increasing the soft cap of 1,200 points per week, the metrics wrt activities and the points they qualify for was always going to change. I think they also had a look at just how many people were doing 2h plus activities just once, meeting the target, and then relaxing - that doesn't fit in with their idea of "increased activity". Now, instead of doing just one thing per week for 1,500 or 3,000 points, you need to do 2 of the same quality. A small change. A carrot, if you will...
  5. okay, let's do the math here. The HR data that they use is your AGE RATED HR. IE: If you're 40, your MAX HR is listed at 220-40 = 180. In order to get to Vigorous, you'll now need to maintain an average of 144 bpm. Not that difficult, and I'd even go so far as to say that that is far lower than your *actual* 75% level...
  6. We took (led by our science teacher) a black bag filled with hydrogen and placed it under a raised stormwater drain inlet while the rest of the school was in assembly. He took a hockey stick and taped a match to the end of it... KABOOOOOOOOOM! Stormwater drain cover goes up, and up, and up. Several seconds later, a scream of CHIIIIPS!!!! as it started coming down. He left the school at the end of that year...
  7. Agreed. As for the linkage. As the wheel moves up, the links both rotate counter clockwise. Bottom link obv not as much as upper link Lower link = down, upper link across. Wheel up. Pedalling forces try to rotate the rear wheel downwards thanks to the placement of the bottom link being above the line of the chainring, so it's more efficient when pedalling
  8. yeah, it's a no brainer if the premiums are that much cheaper.
  9. I'm a bit stumped at this one, as there's no reason whatsoever for not being able to continue life or disability or severe illness cover if you're living abroad. You still have local assets and potential dependants, and I've got a few clients who are living in the UK and other areas without ANY problems at all... It is a bit more difficult with income protection, but insofar as lump sum benefits go - shouldn't be a problem at all. Only thing that changes is your occupational details and earnings. You can still have a forwardable address with a relative.
  10. They exist. My neighbour has one that he doesn't care about. Moerse groot ding. Fruits extensively every year.
  11. That Blues / Highlanders game was just a class act.
  12. Nope, not an issue at all. Loads of shocks oriented "upside down" If you think about it its pretty much the same as your fork... that is "upside down" and I don't see any problems there. If there are, I suggest you call Fox and get them to redesign their X2
  13. *and you find a property that's significantly undervalued compared to the rental income it can command, so that the effect of related expenses does not erode your "income" and actually makes it a viable investment...
  14. Hey man, it's for Disco Life policyholders who don't want the full benefit of Vitality. Essentially, a watered down Vitality Integration benefit, with access to the watch. You don't want it.
  15. Fark. With me in it it'd be at 1000bhp/tonne. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurk
  16. Woah.... That engine note! You can hear the crazy!
