  1. At 800g for a tire, I'd hardly call it heavy. My existing tyres weigh that much, and my previous ones weighed 300g more than that. Each. Rims - not that much heavier.
  2. you can't. Plus tyres on a 27.5 would be just too big to fit into a 275 frame, as the circumference & diameter of the 2.8 / 3.0 tyre is just that much bigger than the 2.35 / 2.5 options. Generally speaking, a 29 frame MAY be able to take 27.5+, and a 27.5 frame MAY be able to take a 26+ but then it's all about clearance, which "normal" frames may not have. a 27.5+ frame will accept 29er "normal" rims and tyres without a hitch. Closest you can get to the + size on an existing "non-plus" frame is by buying a set of wide rims (40mm or so) and fitting a 2.35 / 2.5 high volume tyre. This way, the outer circumference of the tyre remains the same as it would be on a "normal" wheel, but you gain the advantage of higher volume, better sidewall support and consequently a capacity for running either lower pressures or lighter tyres. Still ridiculous levels of grip, but not quote the same as the plus (or so I'd imagine)
  3. Getting better all the time. Wide wheels are now fairly well available, although a bit pricey compared to the narrower rims, in some cases. Wide tyres are going to be increasing more and more.
  4. An excellent indication as to the importance of actually HAVING a slush fund like they do... Suddenly the investment strategy doesn't seem "foolhardy", eh...
  5. Indeed. Most off-putting feature on this bike. 4 cables is plenty, and I even get pedantic about that. Can't wait for the lockouts to be servo-controlled or at least magnetically charged so they can be fed with wire / bloutand. Couple that with an electronic / bloutand controlled drivetrain. Shooowee. I'd pay for that.
  6. I must ride one. Seriously though. Am I imagining things, or is the price VERY reasonable given the current USD exchange rate? Still looking for mini-fat rims that don't break the bank.
  7. Was hoping that, myself. Till I realised that I don't *really* need it, and I wanted it NOW.
  8. May be a reaction with something in the powder or softener? Under sweating conditions, it attacks...
  9. Have you washed the strap yet? They recommend 7 uses between washes..
  10. "They don't know what's coming" is kinda right for the plot, and us fans...
  11. you get points for the largest points-generating activity for the day. So if you do a workout at the gym: Clock in: 100 points (next year) 20-59 minute vigorous workout (quite easy to hit 70% of HRR on weights and functional training etc) = up to 300 points You'll get the 300 points. Watch will record your workout as "gym" as long as you select that as your activity when you load up Strava. Done. As a tip - if you're close to the 60 minute mark. Push just a little bit more, or do a fast walk on the treadmill to keep your HR up for another 10 mins or so. Will put you up to the next bracket, and give you more points. Which, incidentally, is the behaviour that they're trying to promote.
  12. During the time that I've been injured (cracked ribs etc) I've been walking. Only really started last week, once I came off the ridiculous levels of painkillers I was on, but it's going well. Walking fast enough to get my HR above 160BPM in most cases, so at least I'm working at it still. Tested the run on the walk home last night (went out for dinner and decided to walk the 5k home) and it's still not lekker. Impact still hurts like a mofo. Can't wait to get back into it, but I fear I'm going to have to start from the beginning again.
  13. no, much easier. At the moment the max you get from ANY workout that iisn't a recognised event or a parkrun is 200 points. From next year, a 20 - 59 min vigorous workout (avg 70% of HRR for 70% of the time afaik) gets you up to 300 points. A 60 minute plus workout gets you 600. Read Gerald's post above.
  14. That is beautiful... I can imagine you getting several offers for that baby..
  15. that shouldn't be happening... Should only get the 500 as it's the higher of the 2, and it's on the same day... Strange
  16. Is this how it feels to be on LCHF!? Okay, only a week and a bit in, but I've been limiting carbs to between 20 and 30g each day and super sizing the fat and protein, and today even though myfitnesspal is bitching at me cos I "haven't eaten enough" I am absolutely satisfied. Brekkie was 2 eggs, avo, bacon, sautéed mushrooms. Lunch was 2 salami sticks and dinner 200g steak and some creamed spinach. Just had a 45min fast-ish walk with the pup (ribs still won't let me run) and yet I'm completely satiated...
  17. Hey Gerald, where did you get this from? Looking for it online and it cannot be found. Also looks to be a bit short on data..
  18. I think people are forgetting the primary purpose of this watch. It's a smart watch with fitness capabilities. Not a fitness watch with smart capabilities
