  1. I'm going by the WINDY stats, which are a lot higher than that. Still going, don't worry...
  2. heat is staying rount 18 / 19 all day, which is lekker. It's the wind that I'm not particularly happy about. Starts picking up tonight and hits 35kt by midnight tonight, only dipping back down on Sunday morning.
  3. I'm busy looking at the forecast, and the wind is gusting to 36 knots tomorrow. Temp is perfect, but I know that those hills really get blasted with the wind. Honestly in 2 minds about it. I'm still going, but the full pull may be a tad ambitious given the conditions.
  4. my uncle owned an engineering shop, so used him for the re-bore and head hone for the mini. Never again, 'cos his idea of mates rates was 20% over and 3 weeks longer. The mirror and sandpaper! Man, I'd forgotten about that! EDIT: My old man was part of a crew that used to street race in the 50's, 60's and 70's. LOTS of old school racing & engine tweaking knowledge that went down with him. Wish we'd done more of it together. Building an AC was his dream...
  5. nah, there'll always be a space for "normal" bikes. There's still somewhat of a rush when you clear something that's been bugging you for ages, under your own steam. I reckon that the average "quiver" of bikes will have a short travel 100-140mm "normal" machine and then a gravity centric e-bike.
  6. HAHAHAHAHA!!! Reminds me of me and my mini, and another mate and I with his motos. Rebuilding them every term, rebuilt my mini twice and just tried to get everything as good as possible. BTW wannabe... smaller back sprocket makes better top end speed... bigger rear sprocket makes better acceleration.
  7. Yeah, and there's nothing wrong with that at all. I have the same opinion as you on the roadie ebike, for my personal use. Nee dankie.
  8. One of the guys I ride with has it. MACHINE. Then you get Mark Hopkins' one that has a 49 on the front in place of the Boxxer. OMF it's gorgeous.
  9. Jeez dude, roadies are just SO much more efficient. Coming back from Tokai yesterday, Cuan and I hitting it reasonably hard on the tar section back to Trail and Tar, roadie comes whizzing past us just soft pedalling. We both just laughed. But ja. I see a niche for those. The not so fit guys wanting to do a euro tour, and cover more distance. For those steep cols that I know Duane has done, but a bit more and not being as trashed afterwards... I wouldn't ever buy a roadie e bike, but I'd buy a Kenevo (new gen) tomorrow. If I could.
  10. Read the article, BaGearA... The tool itself is built by you, using stiff 6061-T6 aluminium arms that bolt together using different width bolts, depending on the amount of tools you want to carry. The 2, 3 or 4 width bolts allow 4, 6 or 8 toolbits to be used from the total of 9 provided. All parts are CNC machined for accuracy of precision and fit. The toolbits and bolts are all heat treated stainless steel, while the machined washers are non heat treated stainless steel. All parts are highly corrosion resistant and ready to spend time in that sweaty pocket, wet bag or ocean air for many years, without becoming tarnished and rough to use. Built to last!
  11. Fiddle with it, touch it, feel it, and you'll understand why. It's a beautiful piece of kit.
  12. Sadly that would have happened if he were on a normal bike, too. That sort of attitude is typical of your more "A-Type" personalities. Or, in another language, fuggin cuuuunts.
  13. I wanna get there round 07h30 or so, to ride from 8. I'll be the dude in the pedo van.
  14. you may not be a hater, you just don't like it. That's fine. But don't "rip it to pieces" if you just don't like it. THAT is a hater, and that's what I was alluding to. Fuckem. Who cares if some people wanna do an homage to the bikes of old with a few styling tweaks and a retro paint job? It's not as if it's the BMW mini that was a complete and utter abortion (despite being a GREAT car all by itself) when compared to the original.
  15. just do it, man. The 350 crowd is likely very traditional and staid in their views. I think the bikes look good, and the paint job & style does remind me of the tree fiddies of old. Which is the point. Haters be haters, man.
  16. Yuuuuuuuup.
  17. HFS that's horrible.
  18. It's firmly in the latter camp. Sensationalism at its peak, with hardly any scientific fact behind the claims it's purporting. But hey, it's getting more people to reduce meat consumption so it *must* be good, eh?
  19. Cancer Could have been a whole host of issues, though. Hydration, sleep, lack of overall nutrients, etc etc.
  20. If all goes to plan, yes. Get there early, start slow.
  21. Except that that heirarchy doesn't mean that GX is te equiv of Deore. It just means that SRAM GX is 4th on SRAM's heirarchy, and Deore holds that spot on Shimano's. Nothing more. This has been discussed ad infinitum, and the "levels" are not directly comparable.
  22. So... an ex hubber just posted this to his FB feed. And yes, he did meet ONE of the owners of the co...
  23. Because of who it was aimed at. Not tears, but anger and disbelief as well as a very nice window into his MO.
  24. Ah yes, that's a known fault. Loctite, new jockey wheel and enough torqqque on the bolt and you're good to go.
