  1. Sadly, I think her crown has been swiped by the Eliminator and the Assegai.
  2. yeah, that's it. There's a pronounced gap between mid and side knobs that results in that vagueness you're experiencing. Not as bad as the old Butcher, but still there.
  3. TBH I think that most of it is chance and circumstance. 1 inch to the left or the right and you get a gash. But on your line, the sharpness is avoided. But, I prefer not to take that chance and spec tough casings on my bike 'cos (as per last year's Hoogies enduro) I haaaate punctures.
  4. We're not particularly talented and don't choose the best lines, or hulk smash instead of float like a butterfly
  5. That's what I look for in a Tyre. ????????
  6. I'm pretty sure we said Mary Mary eliminator Mary assguy beware the DHF deathgap but get it if you must
  7. And he not so secretly craves the Wildtrak / Raptor kit, which is the bakkie equivalent of a badged leather jacket and tassles on the end of the bars
  8. Repeat after me... LISTEN TO TEA!!!
  9. Faster than I am now? Suppose can't get much slower....
  10. The Rekon seems to be a good middle-of-the-road tyre. It has decent side knobs, and a low centre tread design for reduced rolling resistance. Touted as an "aggresive xc tyre" Almost like a DHR2 lite.
  11. Yeah, I'd say so.
  12. Cuan rates it over teh Mary, and that's high praise. TBH I don't think you can go wrong with either. If matchy matchy is your thing then get an asseguy Exo Plus for the front. Otherwise - whichever is cheaper.
  13. hahahaha bro, if I could afford a new bike, I probably would go niner.
  14. No. The weight diff is there, obvs, but TBH I'd far rather have a proper casing and if it's eventually gonna move to the back (as my front tyres generally do) then why the hell not. If you're running 650 though, good luck getting a Blk dmnd elim locally. we (the TEA party) have been collectively trying for about a year to get some in. Standard response is "yes, we have black diamond butchers for sale" Er, no. We want eliminators. "Yes, we have them in blk dmnd" in 650? "no, 29" What about 650? "we have them in grid, or butcher in blk dmnd" when will you get blk dmnd 650 Elims? "We have butchers in blk dmnd" This with Spaz SA.
  15. HAHAHAHAHA yeah!! Very true
  16. Then you may as well slap the assguy back on. Waiting patiently for the Dissector, I am. Another 6 months or so, with the way things are.
  17. Ja, I like it too. I prefer the Slaughter 2.6 tbh as it feels slightly better in straight-line braking and corner grip, but it fails in 2 areas: Mud (wet is fine) and dust. The middle knobs just can't cope with that.
  18. I'd go Elim again, honestly. It's like an Asseguy Lite. All the grip, none of the chunk. And yes, I know what you mean re rolling. Just not a priority for me on the front. BUT. I have to wonder how the slightly taller knobs on the asseguy would have worked in the loose dust that you had on the weekend.
  19. Perfect combo, except the back may have been a bit wanting on the weekend...
  20. Tim, serious q now. STARTING to think? Surely not.... That's pretty much the basis for why wider rims are betterer (to a point, in teh testing I've read that the advantage ends at 35mm for modern 60-63mm wide tyres, and the sweet spot is 30-35mm) The theory (scientific, not "normal") has been around for aeons. The lower pressure is an advantage, yes, but not as much as the better support as a result of the larger "base" width (less pinching) and it's only 1 to 2 psi difference that you're able to run. But again, that's purely down to the extra volume which comes from the larger base width. oh and re the bold bit - yeah, the extra support of the wider helps that to an extent, but if you still have weak sidewalls the squirm is gonna remain at lower pressures. I HATE squirm.
  21. Slightly smaller "death gap" so I'm not surprised, tbh.
