  1. Also just messaged her on facebook... hope there's a response
  2. I've just PM'd the guys wife... hope it is his, so they can get the bike back. And trace the fecker who sold it!
  3. Okay - if you have the orange 5, then the bigger travel one will fit that mould quite well - you can decide which you like better over time, and then banzai the parts around a bit... Or - have an eeni meanie type affair thing. IMHO the 100mm machine would be just that too much of a compromise and would cross over into the Scale territory more than the 120/140mm machine would stray into the Orange's territory...
  4. Pm crow. He's like the officially unofficial ibis rep dude.
  5. They're taking the piss. If it were bent you could just bend it back into place. But even then - is it shifting badly?
  6. Then - a niner is not for you. Or, at least, not the majority of niners. Very few will have that chuckability you're looking for. If I were you I'd look for a sixer of around 140-150mm travel. Maybe a Trance with a 140mm fork on the front - those bikes (in that combo) are a MEAN machine. Then again, a niner trance may just be the bike for you if you're dead set on going niner. Just don't go niner for the sake of it. When you hit the drops and jumps, a wheel is a wheel and 140mm is 140mm.
  7. Mavic Cross-trails are great wheels. Strong-ish, and not too light. But worth it for am / heavy XC riding. As for the hubs, I'm not sure - I think some of the mavixperts can help you there!
  8. Of those 2, the escarpe for sure. A 12mm rear axle, 120mm frame and 140mm fork and the slackened go would make it a trail munching monster of a bike. The sector up front is generally one of the more under rated forks on the market - it's essentially a revelation in drag. If you're looking for a bike to have fun on and still take the hits, that's the one of the 2 to go for without a doubt. Great parts spec for the price as well. Considering what you're going to use it for you'd be mad to go for the 100mm machine
  9. they often have the obscure ones. They're my destination of choice for the CR 2032 and 2025... Either them, or a photography shop.
  10. Hope does them, as do DT (I think) and AC. I THINK Superstar are working on one (heard it somewhere, can't remember where) and Mavic will have one pretty soon as well. CK, maybe - I dunno. But you're right - you need an adapter in order to make the X01 cassette fit.
  11. There have been reports of the General Lee adapter being weak and fragile. In other words, you'd probably be changing it out for a new cassette in the next 6 months anyway. Me - if I had the available cash I'd go for the X01 over the adapter conversion, purely due to the better quality of the X01 cassette over the general lee & XTR. Also try to see if the local guys / other online stores (wiggle, bike-discount.de, probikeshop.com, jensonusa.com, evobikes.co.za, buycycle.co.za & then Merlin) have them for less....
  12. Give it some caulk... everything works better with a bit of caulk in it!
  13. Sheesh, Marietjie - not cool! Glad to hear your hubby;s okay - even though he got hit in the arm... Hang the bastards.
  14. HAHAHA! So true! btw - C is clear. Alles. CE is Clear Entry...
  15. (crow whips out his trusty HP10b2... "WHAT DO ALL THESE BUTTONS MEEEEEEAN!!!")
  16. It's for his after hours activities, where he tries to offload free sweets to the unsuspecting school goers.
  17. Exactly! Far more important to bear in mind is the head angle and top tube and chainstay arrangement. Not to mention the wheelbase!
  18. I'd say the equivalency ratio is around 10% for 650 and 20% for 29. So the 650 would be like a 140/145mm and the 29 would be like a 155mm 26r
