  1. Nope. Just one crash as far as Deon is aware and he would know being the Tokai AMA rep. Maybe crossed wires with all the different friends etc.
  2. Good man. Regardless, we all have him in our thoughts, and if religious our prayers.
  3. If you're praying for him, rather pray in Allah's name... Just a thought.
  4. Plus. Your prognosis has a lot to do with how you decide to structure your recovery and how tenacious you are. You may just have the surgery and regain no movement cos you sat on your lazy ads all day instead of doing sports specific stretches etc.
  5. Jees Sam, way to piss people off. Your answers should be given by someone well versed in the sporting side of surgery and biokinetics. Just because an orthopod who is well versed in the act if doing the surgery and giving general answers it doesn't mean they'll have knowledge in the implications related to sport. Consult someone on the sports science institute. Don't open a thread like this badging orthopods as useless and incompetent. That's just uncalled for v

  7. Dude. Seriously. Import them. Faaaaaar cheaper, even with the ZAR at it's current fail-like state.
  8. I have that problem as well. Not as much, but I only remember a few (maybe 30) numbers. I could remember more if I pushed myself, but as you say - why, when there's the backup on gmail, outlook, phone, facebook and other places?
  9. AWESOME. Spinal cord is the big one.
  10. Rofl. Look, some can certainly be included like massive tables and berms etc. but we have limited space and such awesome natural features it would be criminal not to use them...
  11. Fun, but too manicured considering the terrain we have.
  12. Afaik that would just be a helmet. Not even a full face. In that case, big tick as he had a ff on as well as pressure suit etc
  13. Clarity on this issue. MTB is not a hazardous pursuit, neither is road cycling although there have been rumblings over the last few years regarding a potential shift in how insurers assess risk and there could be a loading imposed in the future if there is enough reason for it. Having said that the incidence is far less than death or disability as a result of car accidents so I don't see it happening anytime soon. Ito group risk cover, the cover provided by your company. No exclusions or loadings apply, unless you go over what's called a "free cover limit" in which case you will be underwritten normally in line with personal insurance policies. Group risk members are underwritten by the group, which is why loadings and exclusions do not (generally) come into play. Some personal and group policies still have generic neck &back and psychological exclusions though, so there's that portion to worry about if its not part of the "new breed" cover. Whatever the case may be, the chances of them repudiating a claim based on this incident are very low, as the pursuit is not "hazardous" per se. But there may be a neck and back exclusion on icb (income protection) and lump sum disability benefits, if structured in the "old" way.
  14. Exactly that, grumps. Endo, turned into rolling stoppie and over the bars into a rock head first. Side on impact.
  15. Sometimes those neck protectors are more of a hindrance than a help though. If you don't have the righ thelmet & brace combo, it restricts movement quite heavily and can actually make you MORE prone to crashing due to your balance etc being affected. Not to say that they aren't all bad, but it's not a case of "have to wear" when in DH...
  16. Shaite. Damn dude, not cool. Hope he has a good support structure in place, and his work had group risk benefits...
  17. Then you'll be fine, 'cos you also have a thumb...
  18. AWESOME work! Q time - who did you order through? Cutter Electronics, or some other place? That housing looks wicked.
  19. That's the plan... EDIT: And that's what we hope to do. The trails getting attention in the future are the XC / All Mountain trails. No big ass death jumps, and no death-drops, but features that will challenge all, and can be ridden at any speed and still be technical enough for the experienced guys.
