  1. Blegh. Linkage arm looks like an afterthought. And the chainstays are just TOO different for my taste
  2. Yeah, Devon or Marco will (should) be able to help you out. Lekker guys...
  3. yeah. It's the one bike I'd consider selling my kid (ney) for...
  4. Switched from 9sp XT to 9sp X0 about a year back, going from trigger to grippies. Apart from the initial setup of the fd & rd, I haven't had to touch the settings. Mind you, I haven't ridden much, but what I do ride is a fair bit more gnarly than your average XC ride.
  5. AFAIK signal hill below the road is fine. As long as it's on the Jeeptrack / fire roads, you're fine. Problem is, as ever, illegal builds...
  6. SO wish I was there this past weekend. Unfortunately not only was I sick, but so was my wife and son. So it would have been a REALLY bad move for me.
  7. Hey bro! Well, here's a bit of info for you... In terms of where to be based, there are a number of options. If you're thinking of broadening your riding areas, I'd suggest getting a place in the Northern Suburbs, like Durbanville and surrounding areas. That way you're within 30 minutes of Tokai, Stellies, Somerset West and various other places. Plus the rentals are a bit cheaper out that end, and you have some fantastic places as B&B's out there. Don't know many of them, but I know they're there. As for riding spots: Tokai (basically all of Tokai, although the trails are limited there at the moment) as well as some trails in Silvermine area and Table Mountain (more XC style here) Jonkers - truly amazing, or so I'm told. Contermanskloof - lots of XC, but also a DH line for the more adventurous (rideable on trail bikes) G Spot (stellies) - very nice. Oak Valley - pristine, but a bit further out so you may want to do a day trip there Delvera wine farm - some Very nice trails, but with hellish climbs as well. Bring your lungs. There are other places which I haven't mentioned, but as I said above - best place to base yourself if you're going to roam around will be in the N Subs and particularly Durbanville. Easy access to both sides, and easy access to CT proper and everything else. S Subs accommodation is pretty pricey, and then you'd be 45 - 60 mins outside everything else apart from Tokai / Silvermine. S / West is good, but then the same applies as in S Subs - you have to travel further to get to places other than S West. Either way, good luck dude.
  8. Dude. You look as if you could close your eyes and crash right there... Totally satisfied, thoroughly spent and 100% happy.
  9. Alone, mostly. Mostly offroad in Tokai and on road on the way to Tokai. That and around the peninsula.
  10. Nice one, HM! Glad you had a good time! I presume the "rest" of the holiday was as rewarding?
  11. FARK. Steaks. He has more talent in his little toe than I have in my entire frikkin body. And I'm like twice his size.
  12. Red Bull contest. The cojones on these okes are just frankly in a different league altogether.
  13. And ignore the problem altogether? No thanks boet. I don't fancy being the proverbial ostrich.
  14. Also the most practical. Best use of space, most comfortable etc.
  15. HAHA! Yeah, I get what you mean. But still. Let them drive their own car.
  16. AH - I'm talking of removing the bigger ring on the CHAINRING. Up front. And then changing the sprockets to something liek 28/36 or something.
  17. 10sp cassettes have the same size biggie - a 36t. The XX1 (11 speed) which is a 1x11 has the big ass 42 tooth sprocket on there.
  18. To this option - look around on gumtree or go to the scrappers and buy a 2nd hand towbar, install it yourself. It's really not that difficult, and can be done for VERY cheap. Yes, the bike racks are helluva expensive, but then you can hire trailers etc and go on that way. Whatever you do, don't let the okes sit in the back.
  19. Yeah, and in the first 10 minutes of the race. Very sad indeed. As for the race - what a race! Audi owned it from beginning to end, but that Toyota Hybrid, coming out the corners!!! Yoh yoh yoh! And next weekend is a wonderful one. Quali for F1, followed by Moto Gippie...
  20. Can do it step by step, and there's no need to do anything but remove your big ring and adjust the limit screws so that your 3x9 shifter doesn't shift beyond the 2nd ring (or, there may be a switch on the XTR shifter to change to 2x?) Then all you'll have to do is change the cassette, chain and RD, together with the shifter, and you have a 2x10 setup
