  1. Unlikely. That's below cost.
  2. That sounds good. Thanks!
  3. Thanks tombeej, don't think I'll have time to drive up the coast. I have a Garmin Edge 800 on my bike.
  4. Thanks Dsan. I thought the M4 was off-limits to cyclists, or is ok up to La Lucia? Is that M41 okay to ride on a early morning ride? Not too busy? Is there a safe way to ride up the north coast past Umhlanga or is that busier? Sorry about all the questions! Thanks.
  5. I'm going to be in Durban for 4 days (Sun - Wed) next week and need to keep my training going. Will be staying in Cowie rd. Can anyone help me with road training routes? Would like to put in approx 2-3 hr rides, going in early morning. Thanks in advance.
  6. I've been training and racing on Rocket Ron UST's for about 4 months without a problem. Really like the way they handle too. A few guys I know running tubeless on the Tubeless Ready Rons have had a few puncture issues.

    rocket ron

The Tubeless Ready Rocket Rons seem to do this, while the UST ones are fine. Anyone know the difference between "Tubeless Ready" and "UST"?
  8. Yes, my XT ones were resin. They are just in need of replacement.
  9. I'll know what they're like soon enough. Just got a set of resin ones to replace my XT pads.
  10. I tried fiiting a Conti Speedking non-ust tyre on a Mavic Crossmax SLR. Even with a compressor I battled to seat it on the rim, and then the side-walls had the tiniest perforations. To my dismay the Joe's sealant I used made no impression on these little holes, in spite of lying the wheel on it side, spinning it etc. Overnight the wheel was flat.
  11. I toiled to find a decent lube until I tried the Motorex aerosol lubes. I think its the best I've found.
  12. I had a Kenda Karma do exactly the same thing, but put it down to a side wall impact (visible marks). Maybe it was also a delamination from the joes sealant, or a combination of that and the impact.
  13. Thanks Brighter Lights and Johan. Presumably bike shops will carry the correct oil?
  14. I see on the Rock Shox website that there's only a manual for 2006 model.
  15. Thanks, hopefully JB will see this thread.
  16. I've got a Rockshox Sid Race fork, set at 80mm, and would possibly like to change it to 100mm. Is it something only a bike shop can do, or can it be attempted by myself? When I got the bike, I was given what looked to be 2 spacers apparently for this adjustment.
  17. The solution is: wide enough for comfort / control & narrow enough to get through the trees!
  18. I was interested to see at the joBerg2c that Andrew Maclean was using a 500, and shan still had a 705 (tied fast with cable ties around the whole unit to stop it falling off!) Chatting to him, Andrew reckons the 500 is the way to go. I have a 705 and am very happy with it. The 500 is just so much smaller (lighter) which is a good thing.
  19. I had similar great service from Merida. Had a crack in the chainstay of my carbon 96, took it back to the shop I got it from (Leigh's Cycle Centre at the Pavilion) and had it replaced within the week. It's little wonder that there are so many Merida's around on the trails (and roads) now. Top service, top product!
  20. Back to the problem. I had a loan 96 rear shock on my bike while my DT Swiss unit was being worked on. Comparing the branded "96" shock from the 2010 bike to my DT Swiss on my 2009 bike is chalk and cheese imho, with the DT unit being far superior. I found the 96 unit would stroke once, then stiffen up completely. Adjusting the lock out made no difference. Only way to "release" it was to fiddle with the damping setting. Fortunately, I have my DT shock back now so don't have a problem. I will be interested to see if someone has a solution to this though. Good luck!
  21. With winter fast approaching, indoor training is an unfortunate reality for a lot of us. Boredom or rather monotony is the enemy, even with intervals! I've noticed the ad that pops up advertising Graeme Cronje's Indoor Cycle program / workouts. Has anyone tried these? Are they a worthwhile investment? Look forward to the response. cheers
  22. The beauty is that we don't even have to leave anyone here to turn the lights off. They'll just go out on their own!
  23. That sounds like it. Big showroom with plenty of stock too.
