  1. Speedi, I was in Bunbury this time last year - awesome spot. I didn't want to leave and could easily live there. If I could find a decent job there I'd be back in a flash. Found a pretty good bike shop there too, but can't remember it's name.
  2. I presume this is for a tubeless tyre, and if so, just pour your slime into the tyre before completely getting the bead onto the rim.
  3. Safe bet for Sani would be Kenda Karma's, 1.9 rear, 2.1 front. If I have any doubt, this what I'll ride.
  4. Glad to hear that I've apparently been doing it right!
  5. Thanks MuXmAn, will definitely give it a try.
  6. Agreed Happy Martin. I forgot to mention that the quad stretch provides relief when I do feel a niggle. I still can feel a bit of a niggle when out of the saddle, but if I do a quick quad stretch once seated again, the relief is there.
  7. Good to hear Gravity. After being off my bike for 10 days and my new setup - saddle slightly further back, nose up a tad and about 5mm higher, my knee is feeling much better on the bike, and fine afterwards as well. I'm still icing regularly, more as a precaution. I went to a chiropractor yesterday, and that seems to have eased things too, although she did say I will not see real results until after 3 treatments, which will be by mid next week. I did ask if the sensitive areas she found in my back (knee related areas) were tender because of my knee, or my knee was playing up because of my back, but she could not say. I guess only time will tell. So we'll see, but so far so good, and training goes on.
  8. Gravity, I haven't taken any supplements, but have made use of the xmas / new year season, and have been off my bike for 10 days! I've also re-looked at my set-up, and will back on the bike tomorrow morning for a light ride / test. Hopefully good news from there!
  9. Thanks Konaman, will get the setup done and then stretch.... and strectch!
  10. Thanks Kieran. How do the Specialized guys feel about setting up guys on bikes other than Specs? I ride a Merida, but with Spec shoes!
  11. Ronelle: The pain is below the patella where the tendon lies. I say its a dull pain because i cannot pinpoint it exactly. There is no sharp pain at any specific point. Another thing i'd like to know is what are the long term affects of carrying on training and icing for relief? I'm in a competitive (for vets!) pairing for both sani and joberg, and am reluctant to lose the base i've got.
  12. Thanks all. I come from a triathlon background and eventually stopped running because of knee pain. And Slipstream Sean, I also played a lot of squash which hurt my knees like hell eventually. Micky P, I have had my knee strapped with that same tape, but found that although there was initially slight relief, it didn't last. I'm bad at stretching, and will have to work on that. Gravity: what is the commercial name of the supplement you are taking? Is it called "Arthro Guard & Devils Claw" I'm ready to try anything. Thanks again.
  13. Thanks Kieran, will do that.
  14. If thats so, i hope he can give me some advice!
  15. The doc says I've got patella tendonitis. Dull pain in my left knee. I've had a cortizone jab, but that doesn't last too long. I'm training for the sani and joberg2c, so can't afford time off the bike. Any ideas on the cause, and remedy for this. Is bike setup a possible cause? I've ridden for many years, and have never had bike setup issues before. The only thing that relieves it seems to be an ice pack. Anti-inflams don't appear to make any difference at all.
  16. Thanks Chris, got my Crossmax SLR's last week and they're awesome!
  17. Thanks splat. Doesn't sound too promising.......
  18. Anyone got experience or an opinion of the Jones XR Team Issue tyres in mud? http://media.bontrager.com/images/products/square/white/100/08bo402793.jpg My only concern is the height of the knobs, which are quite low. They are very spaced out, so mud-shedding should be no problem.
  19. Well Done CWC!! I look forward to my Crossmax SLR's arriving!
  20. Thanks Konaman.
  21. Konaman, is the steerer worth it? Does it work on Real Life Video?
  22. I had a GT Marathon 1. It gave a great ride and I think the I-drive system is very good, but, 1. I do feel there are just too many links down in the dirt. 2. The "Dog-bone" strap is a weak point, and I would advise you to carry a spare. 3. Bottle cages are an issue. I upgraded to a carbon Merida 96.
  23. I've got an I-magic and a 705 but didn't know I could do this. Please let me know how.
  24. When I had my GT I always carried a spare. Did have to use it once (in a year) so it may be classed as a consumable. I know of guys who've broken them 3 or 4 times.
  25. Sorry to hijack, but is there anyone in Durban who does this?
