And he said to Rossi "Your ambition outweighed your talent". Very cool.
  2. People at work think I've hurt myself. Those really made me laugh!
  3. That's a lot of stuff! Well done! And yes it was very cold this morning: 4°C at Flamingo Vlei at 0540. If anyone finds a nose on the cycle path from Blouberg to CT it's mine.

Sad but true. So close in 2006. Miller may have been metaphorically on fire this past weekend but Colin was once literally on fire riding the RS Cube. http://www.crash.net/motogp/news/72795/1/edwards-i-was-engulfed-in-flames.html His response typically Texan: "Today I discovered it's bad to be on the wrong side of a barbecue".

That was amazing! Drama and emotion: Jack Miller fantastico! I did like the commentator's remark "It's Miller Time". I expect he's had that one tucked away for a while.
  6. Not necessarily (ref. my partner who's a psychologist). We don't know enough about the Rabbit and the behaviour seems more spontaneous than planned. In her opinion it errs on the side of the sociopath or could even be PTSD caused by previous encounters with foxes. I think she may have been extracting the urine.. How the hell she got that from a cartoon I'll never know.
  7. If a tree falls in a forest etc. That is pretty funny. I like the "Dramatic Re-enactment".
  8. YOU CAN'T SAY IT!!! Bad things happen...
  9. Glad you took it in the spirit it was intended Humour is often lost on some. And yes, I am not a runner but appreciate those who are, generally with some gentle ribbing. Just be thankful I didn't use the J word...

  11. That's probably because: 1. You're running 2. You're not riding a bike. The few times a runner will be greeted by a cyclist are if it's before 0600 and very cold or wet or both (shared discomfort), or if a runner is in so much obvious pain that it looks almost worth it again, shared discomfort. Most of the communication between a commuting cyclist and a runner will be loud as a runner normally has a headset in and is all over the pathway. Not always...
  12. To anyone who knows about, used etc etc. I lived in the US for a while and always needed weird cables or a universal PSU and I know it's over a year old but still:
  13. Sorry to hear man. Heal up soon. Good luck with the recovery.
  14. That's a serious amount of surgery dude... Is it so you can start QOMing (cross threading there: my apologies )
  15. Big tarmac resurfacing machinery with very poor lighting and only one lane.
  16. I used to have an office and storage unit off the service road. So it was the easiest route, also, very early morning the service road is fine. Later in the morning and for the rest of the day, it's as you say, no place for a cyclist. I don't believe there's been any issues on that section of the cycle way. If I ride any later than 0600 which is not often, I'll use the complete cycle path starting at PE.
  17. This morning I had to take my car into work. At about 0555 there was a guy on an MTB taking the Lower Church Street off exit (Southbound) with no lights and no reflective clothing that I could see. Possible lamp/battery failures, who knows. At that time there's a lot of high speed lane swapping as the traffic is still moving smoothly. As the previous few posts have been (once again) talking about safety on the cycle lane, I thought I'd mention the above as I was wondering about the odds of being flattened by a car or attacked on the cycle path at around the same hour of the day i.e. sometime before 0600. I'd take the cycle path any day, which I do most days anytime between 0500 and 0600 and between 1500 and 1600. I'm not a believer in any type of fate so I'll say it: "I've never had a problem". But I'm sorry for those who have had traumatic experiences. There's been plenty of dodgy looking characters sharing the pathway but I've been lucky enough to not have been troubled. As a caveat, I join the path at Paarden Eiland Road after riding along Service Road and on the way home leave the path at the same point but join Marine Drive at Neptune Street instead of riding along Service Road. However my main point is what the hell are you doing riding with no lights on a busy intersection before sunrise? You should regularly check your lights with a glance and if you can't see your rear light flash reflecting against your tyre/frame it's either failed or not bright enough. Oh and those who ride against the traffic southbound on Marine Drive (apart from being Darwin Award candidates) I'll bet you had a shock this morning. Apologies if that's a little ranty, but I was seriously worried for the guy's safety this morning.
  18. I don't know why this exists but somehow I'm pleased it does. http://onetinyhand.com/
  19. My sister who's quite a bit older than me had a compilation album with this on and another which had Tokoloshe Man on it. I loved both tracks and when I first heard the Mondays' version I was amazed. Their (The Happy Mondays) knowledge of dance and stoner music history was encyclopaedic. So I shouldn't have been that surprised especially as John Kongos was one of the earliest artists to use tape loops and samples.
  20. Rain was pretty constant this morning. Certainly not light. I developed a cold, started Friday afternoon so no riding for me this morning. I do enjoy the rain so a I'm little upset at whatever germ laden bastard gave me this virus.

Marquez took it well. But as far as Jorge is concerned: "Nada más que una victoria es una derrota." He's said that before. Y sí, hablo español.
  22. Made me sad again. But I then listened to Alabama Song and it cheered me up. Much better than the Doors.
  23. I didn't realise other people knew about this....

Binder, Lowes and Rossi: a lovely weekend, made my "Lying on the couch 'cause I've got a stinking cold." Much more agreeable. I went off Rossi a bit after the "Incident". But I cannot help but enjoy his magnificent enthusiasm. So I think I'm back on message. Fantastico!
