  1. That's a great picture. What's also amazing about those gearboxes and engines for that matter, is the scale, those gears are tiny and perfect. Barry Sheene rode a one off 250 with 17 gears if my (often faulty) memory serves me correctly when he was an up and coming racer just before the regulations came in which limited bikes to six gears. It also had to be launched at 18000 rpm. However reliability was somewhat of an issue...ahem...cough...
  2. I put this up on the big screen in a training room at work, lights off, my body was moving involuntarily. Excellent stuff!
  3. I'll see your seven speed four stroke and raise you a 1967 RS68 Suzuki 12 speed two stroke (there was a 14 speed 50cc triple too). Here's the 50cc triple (RP68).
  4. http://www.supersport.com/aa.aspx?t=sport&v=Motorsport&view=full Search for TT.
  5. If you haven't binned DSTV, it's all on Supersport as well. Referenced from the South Africa link on the page you linked to; just search the schedules for TT. Repeated ad nauseam of course...
  6. Sorry to hear man. Heal up soon. Good luck with the recovery.
  7. That's a serious amount of surgery dude... Is it so you can start QOMing (cross threading there: my apologies )
  8. Big tarmac resurfacing machinery with very poor lighting and only one lane.
  9. I used to have an office and storage unit off the service road. So it was the easiest route, also, very early morning the service road is fine. Later in the morning and for the rest of the day, it's as you say, no place for a cyclist. I don't believe there's been any issues on that section of the cycle way. If I ride any later than 0600 which is not often, I'll use the complete cycle path starting at PE.
  10. This morning I had to take my car into work. At about 0555 there was a guy on an MTB taking the Lower Church Street off exit (Southbound) with no lights and no reflective clothing that I could see. Possible lamp/battery failures, who knows. At that time there's a lot of high speed lane swapping as the traffic is still moving smoothly. As the previous few posts have been (once again) talking about safety on the cycle lane, I thought I'd mention the above as I was wondering about the odds of being flattened by a car or attacked on the cycle path at around the same hour of the day i.e. sometime before 0600. I'd take the cycle path any day, which I do most days anytime between 0500 and 0600 and between 1500 and 1600. I'm not a believer in any type of fate so I'll say it: "I've never had a problem". But I'm sorry for those who have had traumatic experiences. There's been plenty of dodgy looking characters sharing the pathway but I've been lucky enough to not have been troubled. As a caveat, I join the path at Paarden Eiland Road after riding along Service Road and on the way home leave the path at the same point but join Marine Drive at Neptune Street instead of riding along Service Road. However my main point is what the hell are you doing riding with no lights on a busy intersection before sunrise? You should regularly check your lights with a glance and if you can't see your rear light flash reflecting against your tyre/frame it's either failed or not bright enough. Oh and those who ride against the traffic southbound on Marine Drive (apart from being Darwin Award candidates) I'll bet you had a shock this morning. Apologies if that's a little ranty, but I was seriously worried for the guy's safety this morning.
  11. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b00kj9xh The magnificent Northwest 200: watch all four episodes if you can. Proper racing on public roads. IOM seems rather corporate after Nar'ern Eye'land. And yes that last sentence contained traces of irony.
  12. I don't know why this exists but somehow I'm pleased it does. http://onetinyhand.com/
  13. My sister who's quite a bit older than me had a compilation album with this on and another which had Tokoloshe Man on it. I loved both tracks and when I first heard the Mondays' version I was amazed. Their (The Happy Mondays) knowledge of dance and stoner music history was encyclopaedic. So I shouldn't have been that surprised especially as John Kongos was one of the earliest artists to use tape loops and samples.
  14. Rain was pretty constant this morning. Certainly not light. I developed a cold, started Friday afternoon so no riding for me this morning. I do enjoy the rain so a I'm little upset at whatever germ laden bastard gave me this virus.

Marquez took it well. But as far as Jorge is concerned: "Nada más que una victoria es una derrota." He's said that before. Y sí, hablo español.
  16. Made me sad again. But I then listened to Alabama Song and it cheered me up. Much better than the Doors.
  17. I didn't realise other people knew about this....

Binder, Lowes and Rossi: a lovely weekend, made my "Lying on the couch 'cause I've got a stinking cold." Much more agreeable. I went off Rossi a bit after the "Incident". But I cannot help but enjoy his magnificent enthusiasm. So I think I'm back on message. Fantastico!
  19. Desert Wolf Ground Control Pangolin Station. One of my favourite animals, saw one many years ago in the Kruger Park (Pangolin, not Desert Wolf, but they're pretty neat too). My office has now been renamed. And yes I'm a fool...
  20. I find mine dries quickly at work although it is a climate controlled environment. As long as you hang it in an area which has plenty of air circulation it seems to dry pretty quickly. We also have a gym and heated locker rooms so that helps. Sorry, boasting a bit there
  21. I Thank you! Is it cheating if I only rode one way today? I'll be getting a lift home due to an appointment with large amounts of beer. It feels like cheating...
  22. Dirt biking first, you learn control and how to fall off/not fall off at slow enough speeds and (usually) soft(ish) ground so you don't hurt yourself too much. Then, once the skills have been learnt, possibly graduate to the track then road. I've been riding since the age of four, 48 years later I'm still alive, had a few accidents but the dirt learning saved my life or prevented my entry to a life threatening situation, more than once. An RS125 would be very high maintenance but gorgeous and he'd be the envy of his mates. But I completely understand your reticence. And I'm sure there are plenty more who'd agree with you.
  23. Nice number plate positioning on the One Rand... The IT is a beaut. What year is the CR, 1981/2?
