  1. I sit here with lekka sore legs thinking that this was a strong field. My partner and I placed between 10% and 15% in many races over many years (Road and MTB). Here we came in 50% for age and overall. Lots of skinny, tough climbers around.
  2. I really hope it turns out to be heatstroke or something. These guys and girls were standing on some corners where we came through at high speed for 4 days. I was thinking that the odds were not great. If anybody knows anything- Please give feedback
  3. Jip, but all second hand so please treat info with caution. Heard bike was a write-off.
  4. Man I need miles! A race of truth for sure. Such a fantastic setup. Great organisation. Bike Marshalls made sure I will be back. I heard Jaco was hit by a car on the way back to Nelspruit after the race - apparently OK. Never felt unsafe during the entire race. Will be back!
  5. The official riders dinner was very nice (I normally hate these things). Much later start tmrw. I will have to choose between the Panorama and J2C next year.
  6. Day 3 : What an epic day on the bike! I actually had more trouble on the downhills than the climbs today - they are long and very quick. I just could not trust my co- riders. We did the time trial route today - flippen hell I always thought a time trail will be reasonably flat!!!
  7. I am quite nervous about today. Some BIG climbs waiting. Good Luck to all
  8. I fell into that trap perfectly.
  9. We had a good day (time) but I really suffered. It was just a bit quick for comfort. I did not see or hear of any crashes. The Bike Marshalls were fantastic! I need a quick turnaround or tmrw is going to hurt. Great organisation.
  10. Jip, there were a few bumps today! A crash in the first 10km amongst the front runners. Lots and lots of flat tyres. My own Di 2 had a cable shake loose resulting in a 8min hunt for the problem. Never really found it but it started to work later on after burning my quads on my S/S up a few hills. What a great ride. It is a very different route to the old stage 1 and I thought it was quite tough. Tmrw doesnt look like much of a recovery day to me!
  11. He cant remember M'Lady
  12. Greipel vs Forstermann. "Thigh-off"
  13. 34 inch thighs. Was also in 2012 MTB Olympic team.1.74m 90kg.
  14. Ok so I am starting to think about it a bit more. Perspective: Day 1 is shorter than the Argus but has about double the climbing at an altitude of 1000m to start with. Will be interesting.
  15. I rode some hills in Belfast at 2900m the other day- jeez did I feel it! I think EPO must be easier.
  16. Is that for real? Wouldn't like to argue about a line with him!
  17. What is the weather like - how cold is the am?
  18. Sure. We all have a moral compass. I hope his was telling him that he is overstepping.
  19. #legend - yes #fallguy - definitely #superhuman - no: implies that he had feelings or humanity towards those that crossed his path. He repeatedly destroyed several people that told the truth (as confirmed by him). The biggest frauds are still at large (UCI management).
  20. Thx mate. It actually important to know.
  21. I see the TT is really two halves - downhill to the turnaround and uphill back. 36k TT for an ou ballie means I will have to pace really well. Looks like Sunday will be cooler. I got in a 12h week so feeling a bit better. Getting excited!
  22. Wonder if this Oscar can scream like a pussy?
  23. That is exactly the point! He was one of the guys that really pushed it to the next level. And then he told the riders that spoke up or got caught that they are "toxic" and cannot come back to his team (Astana).
  24. I believe you should first look at rotating weight - sometimes our beginner shoes are very heavy. Smaller Camelback?
