  1. Tensionband. Will need removal in my opinion. I cannot clearly see the fracture line. Appears to be the friendlier fracture. Should not cause longterm disability.
  2. There are many different types of fractures of the 5th metatarsal. I suspect you have a base of 5 #. Two types exist. One type where the line goes into the joint between 4 and 5 can take a long time (sometimes never) to be painfree. It sounds like you had a tensionband type of fixation. These can sometimes irritate the inplantation of the Peroneus Longus tendon. If this is the case your pain will only start to resolve after removal of metal. 3 to 6 months is not long in the world of foot fractures. Ask Richie McCaw...
  3. I dont think that you tick many of the DVT risk factor boxes. If you have increasing pain or stiffness/ swelling in your calf you can have a sonar done to check. A very unlikely scenario at your tender age.... I think your main isues should be about the area of tearing. Mostly it is at the transition from muscle to tendon (where the calf/ muscle becomes prominent). If that area heals with too much scarring it will become less elastic (more rigid) and be prone to repeated tears. Thus: initially absolute rest. Sometimes with a "moonboot" or splint to keep the calf at length. Dont stretch past neutral (90deg) at the ankle. After the initial tenderness is better (10-14 days) start with gentle dorsiflexion (pulling your foot up) - NO pain. After 3 weeks start getting passive dorsiflexion. Only ROM and proprioception training. At 6 weeks start progressive strength training. Explosive sport not before 8 weeks. There are no secrets or special treatments/ meds (except anabolic steroids and Growth Hormone - illegal and dangerous)! If the tear is proven to be in pure muscle fibre (very unlikely if there was no direct trauma) - you could cut about 2 weeks off the time.
  4. You must differentiate between types of actvities - taking of for a sprint or jumping is worst for calf injuries.
  5. What grading are you using? How was the Dx made- clinical, sonar or MRI. Your age and previous injury history is also important.
  6. Small highjack: My favourite T-Shirt I own I bought from you last year. Lucky kids that will receive your gear...
  7. Still have not been accepted. Eish. Maybe you should just start a thread here?
  8. I think they want you to ride fast, come back early and be in a good mood.
  9. You guys are too strong for me but I would seriously consider doing it if they cater for plebs like me too.
  10. OK Willie: What on earth could be bothering you? Someone actually buying a roadbike to to roadracing? Somebody buying at a price that is still more expensive than in Australia (thus not cheap)? Somebody trusting his LBS? Ek dink jy kyk te veel Barry Roux.
  11. @RooiWillie:is jy 'n bietjie verveeld? Daar is nog baie ander forums - lees hulle en maak sinvolle bydraes. As jou raam beter is met 'n kraak in wonder ek wat vir jou kop sal help.
  12. Nice training weekend coming up: Rooiwal on Sat and Emperors on Sun. Anybody else?
  13. Since the Alize is the more sophisticated and much more expensive bike - I would think the sueing should go the other way. Surely the cheapie gets the benefit of confusion. Appears to be pure bloodlust.
  14. I think this is a great idea. The problem is that the nature of electronic communication is that it is immediate. I registered and now I am waiting for acceptance to the site (+/- 12h). The moment is lost quickly before ones attention shifts to the next subject.
  15. J2C 2015 100% committed. Next year will be planned around a double lap Argus, J2C and Wines to Whales. 94.7 MTB and road this year to be used for seeding for Argus. I really want to be ready to enjoy J2c. Doing Panorama this year.
  16. The higher the group the more the surging (tactical racing). Open seeded is the term used for being seeded with your "piers". Only four road closure races in the year. Great race. See you at Emperor's....
  17. I hope you guys know how much we appreciate it. It really is our only security. To you and all your mates - THANK YOU!
  18. I have dealt only once with a bike shop in CT. I was on Easter holiday and my Dropper Post started acting up. We were planning to do a big few days of riding. I could not get the wholesale workshop or any bikeshop to help me. Eventually I drove past Revelution Cycles, stopped and walked in. They have never seen me before. The owner (or his son) gave me his Reverb bleeding kit so that I could do the bleed myself. When I took it back the Monday he didnt want me to compensate him for the material used. Revolution Cycles treated me better than I could ever expect. I will not easily be convinced of the opposite.
  19. Racing snakes? Welcome back
  20. .
  21. A member of your club did a lot of work at the front of B. He is really strong into the wind. Thank him from the Jacaranda trio please.
  22. It would have been nice if you gave them first chance to respond. You could then have published their response.
  23. I must say the fake wheels scare me
  24. Did anybody else notice how similar the times are with those of the Argus?
  25. AA and his mate not. The 3rd guy was refuned. Precedent was set I think - is there enough money available though?
