  1. If you ride in Africa you need tubeless. And that is the whole story.
  2. Sorry to hear. Give us the whole skinner storie. It can prevent one of us also getting shafted.
  3. Sorry mate. Hope you can it sorted with a saddle or something.
  4. The only thing wrong with this picture is, I am sitting on a chair behind a computer not on my bike behind them Typical Wheel sucker Why dont you do some work in the front? Above was a recent comment from Escapee. Heh -heh!
  5. ASG is very quiet
  6. What a lekka day's riding. I tried several times to get away but on the flat roads the bunch always cuaght up. Apparently only one crash towards the back of AL. We caught the remainder of the vets 2km from the end - who all then wanted to sprint for the line despite being more than 5min down. As the major bonus for the day , I then met Escapee. What a nice guy. Now to get my knees to stop hurting for the sand of tmrw on my S/ S.
  7. sounds like a clever man with his priorities sorted.
  8. Strong neck for a cyclist. Could be Balboa's next opponent.
  9. Honest question: can a rider overule the DS? What if the team says go and you disagree? I understand Cadel has a lot of say but would his teammates sit up if the DS says Go! Go!Go! ( my version of shouting in Italian).
  10. It would be rather scarce to have a nerve issue in the perineum (not impossible though). The diagnosis that can slip through is prostatitis. Yes young men can get it too. Others: Bladder infection. Proctitis (infection in the rectal area - fungal often). My money on a prostate that is inflamed. Go see an Urologist. He will make the diagnosis.
  11. Must just be a heavy frame
  12. Nice racepack. NB. NB. to all traveling - several sections of roadworks coming from the south. Give some 20-30min to be safe. Nice racing village so leave some time for after as well. Also no pins in the pack, but if you ask they do have some. Good luck for tmrw.
  13. Great weather and no wind expected for Sat. Sunday a bit cooler at the start but that is only at 08:00. Packing up the fam this afternoon. Sat is going to be FAST!
  14. Road Saturday and MTB on the S/S Sunday. It was moer cold last year.
  15. Will you publish the answer here as well, please. I would also like to know that. Also can I run the vitualtrainer (as controller for the bike) while watching another video on the ipad?
  16. I often see a guy running barefoot when we do laps at Klapperkop. I have been told he does really long distances as well. I rode behind him for a while - his biomechanics is perfect. Also remember Zola and several runners from Ethiopia. Some people can do it. Most cannot. BTW: overpronation was/ is a very overused term in my opinion. It is a natural part of footstrike for most people. The point is that if you are an overpronator you will need a very gradual and long retraining of the Tib Post muscle to be able to run barefoot safely. If you are an true supinator and have a rigid high arch you will never really have enough shock absorption to run barefoot without destroying your Peroneus Tendons. For most people shoes are the safer option. Think of barefoot running as the full rigid, S/S, 26'er with one brake version of running. It may be purer but certainly is harder for most people and not the best option for the weekend warrior.
  17. For the record: I am not for or against "barefoot running". I just think that very few people will do it the way the proponents sugests it be done.
  18. The difficulty with science is that you must control all the variables. Often by cutting back your distance and pace and rebuilding it slowly (the process) you get better the natural way. If this happens while you are wearing brand x you will believe they cured you for life. Hard to prove though. It is imposiible to do a double blind, random, contolled study on shoes - hence not ever really scientific.
  19. Most true runners will not be satisfied with "you will never run again". Mostly it is better to keep on looking for a solution. The problem comes when they dont want a solution but rather a miracle. Cashing in on that despirate market is like getting people to sell their houses to pay for a miracle cancer cure.
  20. It is the process that the average person does not want to invest in. Witness me buying new cycletech rather than trying to ride more and more technical trials. I am a cycling sucker and I pay lots of Sucker Tax. I doubt that I can expect a refund from Rockshox soon.
  21. I agree this is not really placebo, but it is very dodgy market driven science also.
  22. I have no doubt than some people are biomechanically nearly bulletproof. In the early days Wally Hayward and his mates wore standard Bata tennis shoes. The problem is that most people that run need more than this. I think eeeek said it very well. The problem is that they marketed this product to all and sundry knowing very well what the law of averages are. For every happy customer I can show others that quickly discarded it or a few that persisted and developed Plantar Fasciitis or metatarsalgia. My beef is with the mass hysteria and the premise that they have suddenly found an answer that nobody else could (and the consumers that believe that anybody that questions the marketing is behind the times). If it works for you then you are not a sucker. It didnt work for many though.
  23. All owners should rather be made to pay extra Sucker Tax and not be given a refund.
  24. Fair enough. Meant the same thing but was not articulating clearly.
