  1. The results will be send to SA Seeding to form part of the SA Seeding and Kia Ranking system De Wildt nestles at the foot of the magnificent Magaliesburg Mountains and the route will take you through beautiful landscape scenery that will offer you a generous mix of single track, Jeep track, riverbeds and technical rocky mountain climbs.
  2. I just spoke to Anton - one of the organisers. He is very enthusiastic about this race. It forms part of a series. They have built some pallet bridges due to rivercrossings that became deeper due to the recent rains - they must be very commited. A fair number of entries (about 170 online and numerous enquiries - more than 200 expected). According to him: some sandy patches, rivercrossing, "shade riding" and widely varying scenery - including game. It is in aid of the last remaining "plaasskool" in the old Transvaal. It certainly sounds worth a bash. I will try to convince the boss that a late change of plan is in order.
  3. Relax Mate. Target date in the US is July 2014 according to Pinkbike.
  4. entries extended to 26/03 @23:00
  5. @stringbean - how about a Comrades with only 50 runners? You are really missing the point. I presume you are young and still believe nothing can go wrong. Enjoy it while it lasts!
  6. 75% of non-finishers were from overseas. SA withdrawels mostly only one of a team. Maybe the overseas guys and gals are still underestimating this event?
  7. @Bman: Sure I have an opnion about those scratches - but I reckon Ronsha has done enough to take the matter up in private with him. This is really feeling like a bit of a mob thing now...
  8. I am sure several people are in the same boat. Glad I decided not to spend on flights etc. Maybe next year?
  9. Santa paint job coming up... AWESOME BogusOne! I am excited all over again.
  10. To Shaun: You made it hard for us but all is well now- welcome and good luck with future dealings. You earned your cred in a very robust manner.
  11. Feelgood wins!!!!! Goodonya both.
  12. I too will be watching. Good vs Evil....
  13. I prefer to believe this will turn out OK. Doesn't add up for a fraud to even try to convince us after the money has been transferred already. I have chosen to be naive before and have sent money to Hubbers without checking anything. Always worked out. Most people are actually good. Don't spoil a weekend believing in the opposite.
  14. This could turn out to make the seller very legit on the hub. We are a strange bunch...

    Argus 2014

If the first 5 groups get 3 min it will only add 10 min to the overall time. Those are the groups that are likely to chase down gaps.
  17. I think the people should add the shape of their head when they answer. I have a very round head. I think the Giro works better for oval head and it feels like Spez is better on a round head. Where does your brand fit in?
  18. My comment at the time of that release was that one should not burn bridges. It may be that "...the much slower pace..." part comes back to him. I really would like them to do well though.
  19. Let me guess - you are this aggresive when you drive your car too...
  20. I will not get into a mudslinging contest around this argument. I will make a statement and if anyone agrees it is fine if not also. Life is not black and white. Case 1 (real life - 2014). Guy in car crash. After years of struggling his whole foot is made stiff with rods screws etc. to control pain and to make it possible to continue his work. Guy was a 3:10 Argus rider before. Operation is successful and the guy starts cycling. His mood and quality of life improves. A week before the Argus he slips and hurts tendons around his fused ankle. Cortisone injections alleviate the pain. Worker class man - no time/ money resources to apply for a TUE. Guy finishes in 6h. Very happy and doesnt feel "disabled" anymore. Yeah he is a doper and the sport really doesnt need him - ban him! Case 2: (2014) : A member of a small club that lives for cycling (arranging small races, running small starter groups - all for free) goes to Cape Town a week early for his annual holiday and Argus. Gets flu. No GP locally. Pharmacist treats him. He does a 3:40 which is his worst time ever. Comes back and finds out he used banned substances. He obviously is bad for cycling and benefitted greatly from doping. Spend money to catch him and ban him. Cheater. Case 3: A man thinks his car is being stolen. He shoots and kills his own daughter. The court considers all facts and does not put him in jail for life. Everybody agrees that this is fair. Life is not black and white.
  21. As with the outcry with the Burry tragedy - unless the driver gets nailed, it will make no impact. We should rather put pressure/ pay to have his (hopefully) severe punishment published in the popular press. It will take fear for punishment rather than respect to change the behaviour of drivers. Hang in there fellow cyclists.
  22. I am missing something - please give a hint: what incident?
  23. yeah I was crapping myself last night - BP and output better now but on quite a bit of Inotropes. He had a sore ankle and shot loaded up big time on Voltaren. Eish
