  1. Thanks for that sheebeen. Will definitely give the link and info to the guys doing the tour, I'm sure they will read it all with a lot of interest
  2. Nice one Capricorn. Seeing as I have been able to go back there for the last 2 months was great to see the trail again. It is a lot slower for me though
  3. Thanks Tumbleweed. They guys are going to need all the support they can get.
  4. Messiah Of Pain - Circles
  5. The CounterBalance Project a NPO using unicycling as a medium to raise awareness in order to raise money for charity has been established. The first project will be the Freedom Revolution Tour with proceeds from the Tour going to the Bob's For Good Foundation. We're really happy to tell you that our CounterBalance website dedicated to the Freedom Revolution Tour is up and rolling. Johnny Cronje, Alan Read and Donna Kisogloo are riding 2,500km off-road from Durban to Cape Town for 46 days from November 26 and our site will tell you everything you will want to know about our epic adventure. The trip is the result of the KH Evolution of Balance Award given this year to the group. "SA-positive" blogger Fred Hatman, who is also the support driver for the ride, will be blogging about the tour and constantly updating on Facebook | The CounterBalance Project, YouTube - CounterBalanceSA and TheCBProject on Twitter Pop over to the website and interact with the group as they prepare for the mother of all unicycle rides... and please follow them on the various social media to keep updated on new blogposts, images and video. They'll be really grateful to get your support as they test themselves and their unis against the rugged terrain of South Africa... all in aid of Bob Skinstad's Bobs For Good Foundation which is committed to providing rural children with decent school shoes! They are proud to be doing their ride for such a phenomenal cause! PS: They need hefty sponsorship to make their ride happen. If you would like to donate, there is a "Donate" page on the new website where you can contribute. We'd be totally chuffed if you can help us get going! Once the tour expenses are met, all surplus money will be given to Bobs For Good to buy shoes for the kids.
  6. The Awakening - Prayer For The Song
  7. Tokai is an awesome place to ride !!!! Some Mountain Unicycles rocking it in Tokai
  8. Gossip - Heavy Cross Again not a style of music I generally listen to, but I really like the funk guitar work, and it's gets my foot tapping ... so it gets a thumbs-up from me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KLLxdcrk0-s
  9. Not bad for an Indie-Rock outfit. Reasonably mellow with some foot tapping pieces. Listened to the album about 5 times now, favourite song ... "Ready To Start". Generally not what I listen to, but one of their songs was used in a Unicycling video recently so decided to take a listen. My rating ... 5/10 (although you may want to take this with a pinch of salt ... I normally listen to Death Metal) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pp3olGyku0&ob=av2n
  10. Wall Of Sleep - Ornaments Of Heaven
  11. Horn Of The Rhino - Speaking In Tongues
  12. Zoroaster - Firewater
  13. Cage The Elephant - Drones In The Valley
  14. Accept - The Abyss These guys know how to rock ... and have been doing so for the last 30 years !!!
  15. Haezer - Sirens In The Night
  16. Not sure if I'd be able to ride my Mountain Uni on rollers .... Probably safer just to ride it on the road
  17. eish !!! looks quite gnarly with those pins/screws sticking in there. Very glad that I haven't had to go that route. Still have a little pain with certain movements and can feel I don't have a lot of strength doing some things ... but it is getting better every day with more range of motion and less pain each day. Hope to be back on the wheel soon
  18. I was told Tendon by the first Doc in emergency that looked at it. To me it looks like a shoulder separation, and reading the symptoms they are like mine. There is the option of surgery with putting in a metal plate to join the 2 bones again, however I would have limited range of motion. Was told by the Orthopedic Surgeon that it's better to leave it and let it heal that way, that is unless I require more stability for a professional reason. ie sport or work. Currently I have almost full range of motion back, so for now I'm going with the leave it option. Yup, kinda exactly what the Orthopedic Surgeon said. It's been a week so far. I wasn't given any specific time-line to let it rest/heal, other than see how it goes and how soon the pain subsides. Given that in a week I can do most of what I could before baring some motions, and lifting of a certain amount of weight ... it appears that I could be out riding again sooner than I initially thought. Although having said that I don't want to rush back into something and make the injury worse. I'll probably do some road riding for a little while before heading back out into the forest. Less chance of bailing on the road
  19. Had a bail last week, pretty much like many I've had before. In fact I've gotten very good at doing rolling bails and they can be fun B) except with this one I tried rolling against a berm as apposed to with it and ended up slamming my left shoulder straight into it. No broken bones, but managed to snap the tendon in my AC joint. So the 2 bones in the x-ray are supposed to be closer together and joined by a tendon .... sadly no more Surprisingly I have most of my range of motion back already.
  20. Korn - Oildale (Leave Me Alone)
  21. Convert to a fixie ... no need for brakes ..... better yet ... just get rid of your front wheel while you're at it
  22. Couldn't agree more. I can spend all day every day riding in Tokai for an entire year and it hasn't cost me more that R225 + diesel to get there. I get water from the tap at the main gate and I'm off. Local races are expensive and not worth the price particularly when you include the additional costs of getting to them plus the rip-off prices of food and drink at the events.
  23. My Silent Wake - Severed @steelhearted .... Symphony of Destruction ... awesome track
