  1. I'm glad that WOFT has saved the thread from the direction it was heading. Imhotep ... dude ... there have been a few unicyclists on TheHub for a while now. We've been courteous to the bikers on the forum as it is predominantly a bike cycling forum. It's a bit offsides to post inflammatory comments given how fringe unicycling is. We've also made a huge effort to be friendly and open when riding on the trails in an effort get people to dispel the circus stigma and see unicycling for what it is. Tumbleweed... great to the the youngsters riding a uni. Perhaps you should give it a go as well
  2. http://www.imdb.com/video/wab/vi1348704793/ "A documentary film that details the sport of extreme unicycling and addresses factors that make this unique sport so enjoyable and socially misunderstood." A very good documentary film which I enjoyed watching. Gives some insight into extreme unicycling and typical cliches associated with unicycling.
  3. Exactly Less maintenance.... just keep riding
  4. Never wash my uni. No need to really. It's a Mountain Uni ... it's supposed to be dirty.
  5. The folks at Inner City Bikes have come up with a unique design of mixing a fixie with a unicycle ... http://gizmodo.com/#!5753173/inner-city-bike-mates-simplicity-with-a-unicycle-and-a-fixie The video is quite interesting. Not sure if it will be taken up by many but at least it's interesting.
  6. lol ... that was quite funny ... sorry to say... but had a good chuckle at that
  7. I get annoyed with people who are blatantly staring at me who I greet, and just carry on staring not saying a word. Yes I know I only have 1 wheel..... but if you're going to stare at least say "Hi". Then again the staring is probably better than the so very highly *original* phrase, "Hey, you've lost a wheel" .. or "Hey, where is your other wheel"... seriously dude.... is that the *best* you can come up with ??
  8. Granny Gear ... hhhppppfff ... who needs it
  9. You guys carry on about the 29'er .... A buddy of mine has ridden the single tracks in Tokai on a 36'er ... single wheel nogal ...
  10. The heated debate between the 26 vs 29'ers is quite entertaining. Still unsure why anyone would really *care* about what someone else rides around on ? but hey, you're the one losing some sleep about it. I don't care or mind that you ride a bike ... all I know is I'm having way more fun
  11. A suggestion perhaps ? You may want to have some sort of web page up when you publish your URL for your web site, even if it says under construction, or Launching 1 Feb, etc... The URL currently just has a parked domain notice from IS.
  12. True ... I was quite shocked when I went for a ride on Tuesday. Suddenly I was riding in some other place, or at least that's what it looked like. Didn't recognise some of the jeep track. But the wind was pumping and even in the exposed areas I didn't feel it. Not sure how long it will stay that way with all the tree felling they are doing. I can understand why they are doing it, but I still don't want them to do it. Riding some single track through the forest it awesome
  13. Head into Tokai Forest.... The trees shelter you from the wind and makes for a very pleasant ride
  14. An entertaining read of their journey so far ... http://www.counterbalance.co.za/?p=1217
  15. You can also follow them on Twitter, http://twitter.com/TheCBProject They're going strong, even after running ... ummm riding into some dodgy weather
  16. :-)
  17. Thanks for the replies guys. To answer the "Why?" question ..... well .... just because I want to pimp my ride essentially. It's purely aesthetic It's not about the finish lasting long, it's just about doing it I suppose.
  18. Amazing skills !!! Love his riding....
  19. bump .... Anyone ?
  20. I'm looking for some anodized spokes. Where is the best place to get them (Cape Town preferably, but happy to pay for shipping from the rest of the country), and can they do customised lengths ? I need them to be 260mm. Cheers
  21. John has done a write-up about his ride in the Amashova ....
  22. That was cool, really enjoyed watching. Some mad sh*t goes down in Vegas....
  23. Cool video. I've only ever ridden in the Majik Forest twice... both on the same day. Surprised at how much of the trail I remember. Need to make a plan to go back there..... it just doesn't have the excitement of Tokai's ST though.
  24. .... and she was wearing full protection kit What the hell would she do if she had a proper bail...
  25. Darren Berrecloth riding with a GoPro cam.... insane stuff if you ask me !!!! Don't know how you guys do it
