  1. "tight around the chest and loose and baggy in the crotch area." easy on those steroids guy.......
  2. ahhh the hub, I make a tongue in cheek comment about CRC and the conversation goes from anti smoking to actual bad experiences of interweb cycling gear buying, and rants about postal inefficiency. This thread has nothing to do with facts. Can you all please bugger off from my thread, only superficial/sarcastic/tongue in cheek or funny comments allowed. Also feel free to post completely irrelevant pictures of half naked females, or a rabbit with a biscuits on his head....

  10. Andy said on twitter today that AC apologised to him, why would you apologise if you didnt think you did anything wrong?
  11. Yesterday when Robert Gesink went to the front of the peloton, Phil said something along the lines of "and I cant quite make out who that is" And Paul chirped "I'm guessing it's Robert" I hosed myself, Phil didnt bat a eyelid and just kept talking
  12. This whole incident completely distracted everyone form the most important event so far in the tour that happened yesterday. Did you guys notice the hot chick (with the nice babylons) that hands out the white jersey is back??
  13. Those Look frames with the City Golf paint job are nogal hot
  14. Sjoe, why is this is so difficult to understand? I'm sure organising a race takes a sh!tload of time and effort, if the organisers makes a few bob from doing it, fair juice to them. "for the benefit of the sport" was mentioned in the summary thread. What? you serious? I build and sell billboards for a living, not "for the benefit of companies that want to advertise" but to make myself money. None of my clients demand to see my overheads, or wants to know what I'm going to do with the money before buying ad space from me. I give them a price and they pay it or they dont, simple as that. Its up to me to find the price balance between making money and losing customers If you dont like what a race costs then dont ride it, getting on your bike and riding on public land is (mostly) free. Riding on someone's private property will cost you a few bucks. Thats how it works. Personally I dont give a hoot where the race money goes, as long as its organised properly, I'm happy. And if its not, I'll probably not be back.
  15. Weight training is beneficial for your health and weight loss, the more muscle mass you carry, the higher your resting metabolism is. So your body will burn more fat while resting if you carry a bit more muscle weight. As a male your testosterone levels also benefit from having more muscle mass. Obviously as a cyclist you want to have a balance and not carry too much muscle. But unless you're a competitive cyclist I wouldn't worry too much about that. Remember losing weight is 30% training and 70% diet, 3 times a week will be fine, try and do something that trains your whole body in one go. Check out http://www.capecrossfit.com/ its the best form of weight training that I've come across.
  16. Crossfit is allot of weight baring exercises but my knees seem to be fine with it, havent had any problems since I started. In fact, my knees feel much better since I've started doing crossfit. It's old school training, pull ups, push ups, squats, dead lifts, tire flips, sprints ect. Checkout http://www.crossfit.com/, I train with the Fight Fit militia http://mmajhb-co-za.win25.wadns.net/
  17. I'm with you, my problems started with rugby, after that 11 years of racing off road bikes and 4 years of skydiving took its toll. Now I'm sitting with 2 buggered knees and messed up shoulders. Had 3 ops on my right knee and one op on my right shoulder to fix a recurring dislocation (have dislocated it again after the op ). Last year at the Roof I tore the ACL in my left knee, havent fixed that yet but will probably go for that op in sept. Cycling has help keep me fit as its kind on my joints. Started doing crossfit a few months ago which has helped allot with strengthening my legs and shoulders. For some reason I was blessed with strong bones but weak ligaments, havent broken any bones yet and I should have a few times.
  18. PO-TAA-TOE.........PO-TA-TOE......
  19. price isnt your only way to improve sales, I have allot of sales guys come through here thinking sales is just about waiting for the customer to call you. Those guys do not last very long. Same thing with cycle shops, the ones that just open up and wait for their customers are the ones that struggle. The ones that advertise aggressively and go and fetch their customers do well. Cycle Lab (bad example I know, given the topic of this thread) has been very successful with this, as has Solomons and CWC. I'm from gauteng, but when I go to the cape and need something for my bike I'll go to CWC, because I know the brand(and I know I wont be shafted). People that start out cycling go to Cycle Lab (yes yes, I know), because they know the brand. So marketing is just as important as pricing
  20. Thanks johan, your 15 years as a journalist helps puts my point into words allot more eloquently than i could. Your LBS might not be as guilty as some of the other parties on the list, but they are all being painted with the same brush. A blanket boycott off all the shops on the list will do more harm than good. Like I said, there's people working in those shops that earn their livelihood from it. Someone likened it to the BP oil spill and boycotting BP service stations because of it. Good point, we're all angry at BP, but boycotting their service stations will harm people that had nothing to do with the spill in the first place. Thats why we have to trust the authorities to punish the individuals involved, and not those that has been dragged into this unknowingly naively.
  21. erm no, I'm just saying that you should consider your actions before you take them. Boycotting a shop affects more people than just its owner
  22. Just before we all go boycotting the shops on the list, just remember that these shops supports people with families that earn their livelyhood from those busineses. Yes the business owners made a mistake, but now they are paying the price. See if your LBS has learnt their lesson, if they havent, find a new one. Thats your choice
  23. Yeesh guys come on, at least government acted and they were caught and (will be) punished. Not much more that can be done from government side. Free choice is in your hands. You dont have to support the guys that's guilty, shop at CRC like the rest of us...
