  1. Questions is though, by mounting does he mean getting the tyre onto the rim or seating it once on. Sounds like it's the former?
  2. That was in Pinetown.
  3. The only reason that I had the recovery drink was because I had a hard 5h15 165km ride and was completely poked afterwards, usually I don't bother with supplements. What do you mean by missing something? When I was testing to see if it was milk that effected me on Friday afternoon, it was the middle of the afternoon and not after any form of activity.
  4. After my ride today I had a recovery drink, the effects were even worse than with milk. If milk is the cause, then maybe it was the Whey. Any of the other ingredients questionable? (Well excluding the colourants and flavouring which could also be at fault.)
  5. I seem to be selectively lactose intolerant. Although it might be pecan nuts but my money is on milk. Two days ago I had milk after my ride and then landed up with severe stomach cramps amongst other things, an hour ago I tested my milk theory and had 2 sips. Not even 10min later I had severe stomach cramps again. (I'm not dismissing the pecans just yet because coincidentally I had pecan nuts on both occasions that I had the milk.) BUT I'm okay with greek yoghurt, cheese and double thick cream. Might be quantity though.
  6. Congrats man.
  7. Luckily they replaced my XT rear brake under warranty when they packed up, they were leaking, sticking and the pistons would not retract. edit: sp
  8. Congrats, Happy Birthday.
  9. Also on average (that stats are based on), those that consume excessive amounts of coffee are usually those with stressful lives, be it at work or at home. And in general probably don't get as much sleep as they should which also leads to them consuming more food than they should, coincidentally junk food (excluding the sugar that they may be adding to their coffee.) I'm not denying the fact that caffeine has many negative effects, and as some you have found that coffee had stalled your weight loss. All I'm saying is that there are loads to consider when you read these type of stats. As for me, I can easily go without coffee and have found myself only having maximum 2 espressos a day, one in my fat shake in the morning and one post ride provided the machine is on. Personally I don't know what people are talking about when they say coffee ups their energy as I have never experienced this, I'm one of those people that could have coffee immediately before bed without having trouble falling asleep. But as all of us know on this thread, different strokes for different folks.
  10. How cool would it be if there was a steam engine on the tracks with him emerging from the puff of steam.
  11. I'm more referring to the fact that it is unfortunate that we have that type of BS in society, the exploiting of cultural beliefs. Not the fact that it is in the picture, I agree that it makes the pic .
  12. It was is also interesting that he mentioned yesterday that wheat from way back was just as allergenic as today's dwarf wheat. - http://www.marksdailyapple.com/gluten-free-fad/ "All that hubbub about modern dwarf wheat being more allergenic than ever is also nonsense. Besides needing a stool to reach the top shelf, modern wheat is totally identical to older wheat and is no more allergenic."
  13. Yeah, if you read the article it came from a crazy man by the name of Kellogg (if you believe the story) “Dr. Kellogg was obsessed with chastity and constipation. True to principle, he never made love to his wife. To “remedy” the sin of masturbation, he advocated circumcision without anaesthetic for boys, and mutilation of the clitoris with carbolic acid for girls. He blamed constipation for “nymphomania” in women, and lust in men, because, according to Kellogg, impacted stools inside one’s rectum were stimulating the prostate gland and the female vagina into sexual proclivity.” "However, the ultimate fame and money came to Dr. Kellogg not from crusading against sex, but from ready-to-eat morning cereals after he found that baking bran into cereals proved to be incredibly profitable for Kellogg Company. From that point on, it took another sixty years or so of relentless brainwashing to turn what once used to be a dirt-cheap livestock feed into a premium health food."
  14. To put it into perspective though, Myth #1: For maximum health, obtain 30 to 40 g of fiber daily from fresh fruits and vegetables. Reality: Here is how many fresh fruits you’ll need to eat throughout the day in order to obtain those 30 to 40 grams (1-1.4 oz.) of daily fiber: http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg158/MDA2008/MDA%202012/fruit.png As you can see, that comes to five apples, three pears, and two oranges. A small apple contains 3.6 g of fiber and 15.5 g of sugars. A small pear—4.6 g and 14.5 g; and a small orange—2.3 g and 11.3 g, respectively (USDA National Nutrient Database; NDB #s: 09003; 09200; 09252 [link]). These ten small (not medium or large) fruits will provide you with 36.4 g of indigestible fiber and a whopping 143.6 g of digestible sugars, or an equivalent of that many (ten) tablespoons of plain table sugar! http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg158/MDA2008/MDA%202012/spoons.png And that‘s before accounting for all the other carbs consumed throughout the day for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and from snacks and beverages.
  15. A very emotional picture. Just unfortunate that the traffic light is covered in witch doctor advertisements and he is probably handing out flyers that advertise the same nonsense.
  16. To everyone that is sceptical about LCHF due to the low amounts of dietary fibre, here is an entry where Mark Sisson debunks the plethora of myths surrounding dietary fibre. Very informative and was quite surprised to read that dietary fibre is actually counter productive when it comes to digestion! (Well an excess anyway.) Forgot the link, http://www.marksdailyapple.com/dietary-fiber-is-bad-for-sex-thats-the-only-claim-about-it-that-isnt-a-myth/ (and pasted the wrong link at first)
  17. Also, what fats feature most in your diet?
  18. Read this book (using Kindle) https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ah9ics36ot6hki6/uXnZE83qpm It is Jimmy Moore's "Cholesterol Clarity" book and will shed a lot of light on the subject. (I still need to read it)
  19. Why was it thought to be so ambitious?
  20. That was 110V 60Hz (you can tell by the US plug.) We use 220V 50Hz.
  21. My uncle also recently built up a Sling, just white and red in colour.
  22. Similar thing with me, went out for coffee last week Thursday and while everyone had carrot cake, I ordered myself creamy chicken livers which came with 2 ciabattas. I Couldn't resist and ate one of them, about an hour later I was extremely nauseous for a few hours. For the last week I've had a slight scratch in my throat and have had congested sinuses in the mornings and evenings. Other than those symptoms I have felt fine but in this last week (post 12hr race) the legs have felt absolutely useless, not sore or anything but there is just no power whatsoever. Can't tell you how frustrating it is. I'm not sure if it is diet related or not though.
  23. The Jag looks like a modern rendition. http://topismag.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Jaguar-F-Type-S.jpg
