  1. As long as you're not confusing "cafe' legs" with a drop in energy. The reason I hate stopping is because it takes so long to get going again.
  2. I'm also riding a new bike this year that is heavier.
  3. Wasn't the Race for Victory the last seeding race?
  4. Hopefully if the fitness level allows it, would be cool winning B and A in consecutive years. But lets be realistic...
  5. Up to A this year from B. Granted I rode a 2:30:38 last year which was about 1min slower than the winning A time.
  6. It should be able to be trued by your LBS and as long as there are no dents in the rim itself, there should be no need to replace it. But Tumbles might be onto something. Also, lube that chain of yours.
  7. First come first serve seems fair, as he would most likely approach McD's as soon as he gets two of a kind.
  8. In Braamfontein on Saturdays is the Neighbour Goods Market, when I was there a few months back there were people their selling raw chocolate. They say raw because they don't expose the ingredients to high temperatures while making it and thus "retaining" its nutrients. I'm not sure on the cacao% is but that chocolate sure was delicious! (I only had it once and my taste buds might have changed since then so don't take my word.) Found their website: http://www.fineandraw.co.za/home.html and the story: http://www.foodwithastory.co.za/View-Business/412/Fine--Raw-artisan-chocolate They have 78% and a 83% (with cacao nibs) in 54g bars as well as others. http://www.fineandraw.co.za/buy.html Should be able to purchase it around the country.
  9. Will definitely have a look.
  10. Whenever someone from my girlfriend's family comes over from Germany I get them to bring me some Lindt 99%, but when that is finished it is back to 85%.
  11. First time I heard of this.
  12. I agree, shouting "track" is just lazy. A long time ago I got myself into the habit of shouting "passing left/right", that way the person knows where you will be and can make extra space if they feel like it but the onus is on you to you to make it happen.
  13. I know beggars can't be choosers, but keep in mind that butter spreads are higher in PUFAs as the manufacturers add vegetable oil to soften it up to improve spread-ability. I'm not sure about Mnr, but I've stabilized at 61-61.5kg. I haven't done much training in the last 3 weeks, only 8 rides in total and my last ride before today was last Thursday. Anyway, I decided to join my old mtb group this morning (annual epic rider/structured power training group) and I'm sure glad that I did. Up until today I had thought that my fitness was nowhere but it seems that the last 4 days off the bike was long enough for me to replenish my glycogen stores on my TOO LOW carb diet (<50g/day.) I managed to kick their arses on a 20min TT as well as the 14 big gear 2min sprints that followed, granted that my power to weight ratio is my advantage on the sprints. This training is Quality over Quantity stuff. So I was pleasantly surprised. @HappyMartin, where do you get your carbs? Because I have stuck to LCHF eating habits, the veggies (incl. sweet potato and butternut) and 1 apple per day I eat don't provide enough carbs to replenish my glycogen stores after these HIIT rides. So what should I eat more of? edit, quoted wrong person.
  14. Out of curiosity, what are you snacking on?
  15. No worries, downloaded it all last night. Must have been my end of the month connection speeds that was causing the issues.
  16. Interesting how "old habits" die hard. I logged my food intake today, first time in about 3 or so weeks. I seem to have slipped back into a strictish LCHF regime, 10% carbs with eating more carbs than usual today. I have no idea what to add to my diet in order to up the carb ratio as I already eat a lot of veggies. Maybe I'm just overindulging on fat? As a side note, my riding has substantially improved over the last 2 weeks.
  17. I agree with you there. The one mechanic at the concept store described an S-Works as a formula one car. All the components are performance designed and they have such small tolerances as a result of them being such light weight parts. And it is for this very reason why an S-Works needs that little extra TLC compared to your average mtb in order to keep it ticking (could also be sales talk to justify all the maintenance. ) Granted that 2 months is crazy.
  18. What I understand from that is not what you are saying. I'm sure what he was implying was that when you experience that dip (inverse spike) in blood glucose, you then take a gu which lifts you up by increasing blood glucose but then once again you burn up that glucose and return to that blood glucose dip. So my understanding is that the gu wasn't at fault, it simply increased your energy in a deficit situation. So a gu taken at an instant in time where blood glucose isn't depleted will help the body try and "restore" the lost glycogen stores. (Yes I know that you can't actually restore glycogen stores while exercising as you land up burning it off as fuel)
  19. How did cheese fair on that list? As my dairy consumption is limited to that besides double thick cream and butter. I've been starting to wonder if my intolerance to milk and yoghurt is maybe whey and not the lactose.
  20. Thanks for the info re squeezing one's finger.
  21. Anybody have issues when trying to download videos off the google drive? On both Food Inc and Wheat - The unhealthy... the downloads failed after about 50Mb due to the source file not being able to be read. Any idea what's going on? I've also had similar readings although not THAT far out like yours, about 1.0 out of some tests.
  22. A DIY tool set and Blackburn rear light.
