  1. Somehow I don't think so.
  2. Under "Actions" there is a crop function available for this very reason.
  3. That would look strange, peddling backwards to go forwards.
  4. It wouldn't at all because the chain will run at different speeds over each cog and in opposite directions BUT if the bigger cog spun freely it would work.
  5. No flaxseed, just coconut oil, butter, double thick cream, a little coffee and milk. Oh, and two egg yolks.
  6. Reintroduced milk to my diet today, albeit only 100ml. Changed over from BP coffee to fat shake. Best part is that my postprandial BG was 4.4.
  7. But I had it with oopsie bread and then I also had some oopsie bread with double thick cream. So I had variety, couldn't have been too much.
  8. Apparently a cheese fondue isn't all too keto-friendly. Only measured trace this morning while I was above ++ before dinner last night, oops.
  9. I was reading an article the other day of the archaeology of milk. Long story short it said that those with the ability to digest lactose came from an ancestral line originating in certain European parts. http://www.nature.com/news/archaeology-the-milk-revolution-1.13471 "Young children almost universally produce lactase and can digest the lactose in their mother's milk. But as they mature, most switch off the lactase gene. Only 35% of the human population can digest lactose beyond the age of about seven or eight (ref. 2). “If you're lactose intolerant and you drink half a pint of milk, you're going to be really ill. Explosive diarrhoea — dysentery essentially,” says Oliver Craig, an archaeologist at the University of York, UK. “I'm not saying it's lethal, but it's quite unpleasant.”"
  10. Regarding the sore muscles, I took 2 days off the bike after the big weekend. So as far as I'm concerned, I had allowed for ample recovery. At the start of last year (haven't tested it since then), my LT was at 158bpm. But prior to that my training was daily 40min intervals constantly above threshold, as an outcome I've got a lot of explosive power in the legs because of that. After I went to the HPC for the whole LT fitness test and body analysis I completely changed the way I training because I was told that I'd been overtraining. Since then I started doing longer training rides of 1.5-2hrs 4 times during the week (although I've been slacking lately) at a lower intensity but with structured intervals included. For the six months prior to this years Epic (I didn't ride) I trained 5-6 times a week with guys that were aiming for a top 50, they were on a training plan from Hunter Allen, the godfather of power training. So while doing that my training weeks were between 12 and 15 hours of quality training and it has at this stage where I had dropped to 58kg. It was intervals/hill repeats day in and day out BUT because of how it was structured you had enough recovery time before the next day. Point being, I haven't gone for an LT or VO2Max test since changing the way I trained and I have no idea how the numbers have changed. So where I'm riding relative to VO2Max is unknown. (I don't think I'm doing as much training as you think I am. Oh the fat adaptation, I'm probably not all the way there. On two occasions this week I attempted to skip lunch but by the time it is 2/3 o'clock I'm so damn hungry that I can't eat straight. BUT that could just be because my breakfast isn't large enough to sustain me when factoring in training and recovery. Breakfasts are in the region of 1100kCal. I'm still not sure what to supplement with during a ride, do I take a banana or apple or nuts etc. This coming week I'll experiment on the bike a bit, not much though because my test week starts next Sat. But will be able to see how it affects the readings on the ketostix. (In the video I posted, at some point he shows how during exercise at 60% VO2Max: his BG went up and ketones went down but after exercising the ketones went up while the BG dropped.) So I'll check the ketones about 1-2hrs post exercise. Hours and mileage for this year.
  11. The barrel always give them away.
  12. @Topwine, at the moment I feel the same as you did. When I leave the house for a ride my legs feel heavy and sore, it takes about 30-45min before they get going and then I still can't really push hard. And as expected, I cant maintain sprint efforts for very long before practically grinding to a halt. Most of today I've been wondering/contemplating if I should maybe not revert to paleo.
  13. He's not the only one! http://www.marksdailyapple.com/why-eat-insects/ Hopefully I'll be able to start getting in the habit again of going to bed at 9:30.
  14. Could be that in combination with a lack of sleep.
  15. Okay, more mid back. More or less where my rib cage ends.
  16. Now that I think about it, only 60g a day. Admittedly water has been on the low side for the past couple of days. As of this week I've started upping my salt but I haven't had much Magnesium for the last week because I ran out of but started again with it yesterday.
  17. Lately I've noticed that my kidneys are somewhat sore (slight pain in my lower back.) By chance Mark Sisson posted a link on twitter yesterday which included a small piece regarding Kale and Oxalates which had a link to a blog entry he did in Dec, I thing the 17th. It covered week long fasting, ways to prevent soreness after strength workouts, denaturing protein as well as high oxalate levels in certain foods. In the link it said that high levels of oxalate in the blood can cause pain and kidney stones to form. So it said that to avoid this one should just eat more cooked veg than raw (everybody absorbs different amounts.) Since he referred to Kale in his original link, do you think that I might be experiencing this pain from the amount of raw spinach, well actually Swiss chard that I eat?
  18. Are you saying that people making their own biltong caused prices sky-rocket?
  19. I've been having it since he posted it about a week ago, daily. Since I have a 2 egg omelette every day, what I do now is throw one egg yolk into my 40/40g BP coffee and blend it. The egg white goes into my omelette "batter" making it a 2.5 egg omelette. Honestly, you don't taste the yolk at all in the coffee. That being said, I have no issue swallowing a raw egg yolk either. And yes, the family does look at me funny while I make it.
  20. There is hope! The bottom corner was deep purple while the rest was between ++ and +++. Close enough.
  21. htone, how on earth did you manage to test deep purple day in and day out. I've been hovering at ++ pretty consistently except directly after my hard-ish ride this afternoon where I tested + which my assumption is that my body burned enough ketones during exercise to lower the "concentration." Point being, I eat 20-25g carbs daily but never test deep purple. Maybe it will come with time?
  22. Not necessarily, between my father and I we have 2 Hero1's (although one has stopped working recently) and 2 White Edition Hero3's. My use is cycling while his is flying. Anyway, the Hero1's video quality is marginally better than the white edition Hero3 (both on 720p wide angle.) That obviously doesn't apply to the Silver and Black edition though. And I agree, GoPro's success came from their proactive marketing and PR. EDIT: Granted, the Hero3's Wi-fi phone app's capabilities far exceeds the features of other products. I take it you were referring to this?
  23. I'm making dinner tonight, pork belly seasoned with salt, pepper and coriander on a bed of red onions. Still not sure what other veggies go well will it.
