  1. Yes it is. I will post a few more close ups just now. He does an insane job, the best I've seen in a long time.
  2. Took this old damaged Delange 653 and gave it a new life. So more Neo Retro than full retro, but still an amazing bike to ride.
  3. Don't do it. I ride a motorcycle in from Hillcrest to New Germany daily, I come down Field's Hill but go up Wyebank, Field's Hill going up is a disaster. 15 years ago it was fine, but its too busy and as said above, very narrow shoulder.
  4. Personally I think you are wasting your time beyond 2000 grit. The key is not getting to the 2000 grit too quickly. You have to take your time to eliminate scratches from the previous grit before moving on. Doing this by hand is the only way really, using a machine to sand you run the risk of potentially changing the shape of corner rads on the crank. I would prefer using a bench mounted polishing wheel, wool or material/cloth to buff to a shine. I never go beyond 2000 grit, after that I use Brasso and then good quality metal polish/cream, something like Autosol
  5. Yes I have them at home, will start building the Delange this weekend. Will post images once done.
  6. You will struggle to convince me on that one. Tried my very best to make it work and hated every minute of it. Each to their own, for me my bike is perfect now, I have everything I need to do any kind of riding.
  7. I have the Aluminium version of this bike, very happy with it. Although it took me a while to get used to the slacker head geometry mainly noticeable on steep climbs, I had to play with the stem length and adjust my riding style a little, but now its fine. Came off a Merida 29er hardtail which had a proper "race" geometry (for its day that is). I also swapped out the 1x12 Sram and replaced with 2x11 Shimano SLX, just suits my riding better. Take not that if you ever wanted to do this on the bike you cant, it doesn't have a front Derailleur mount at all (some info in case).
  8. Hes amazing. No the Candy blue Pinarello and the copper/silver DeLange
  9. I was in the same boat when I upgraded and had old wheels with older hubs. I machines 1.7mm off the back of the cassette body allowing the cassette to seat closer to the spokes. Fortunately I work in a machine shop so have access to a lathe. Its better than messing a good hub and freebody up. Downside is every new cassette you get you going to have to do the same thing too.
  10. Looks good. Saw it in the shop the other day while discussing my two bike being done for me.
  11. Giba is very close (Access down the hill next to the Toyota dealership), but for some good miles I would use Summerveld and Shongweni suger cane. Make sure you have the correct year/day pass before entering Shongweni. Also best not to ride alone alone the lower sections near the farmers market, have had hassles there before with the locals.
  12. 2x10 everyday. I've just replaced my Sram NX 1x12 for Shimano SLX 2x11 and its the best thing I've done. Would have bought 2x10 again, but 2x11 from CWC was R500 more so decided to go that route. Better ratio choices and I never have to worry about what front ring to use for different rides/races.
  13. Couldn't agree more. 1x totally overrated IMO.
  14. It will be for sale next week. 1x12 NX with boost crank 175 with a 30 Tooth sprocket
  15. 2x11 11/42 Cassette. I am riding a 2019 Anthem that has 1x12 on and have just bought a full new SLX 2x11 groupset. Night and day for me in terms of ratio options. I tried 1x10 about 2 years ago and hated it, even with 1x12 I just cant get used to it... For me the extra moving part is nothing to worry about. Rather ride what you happy with.
  16. What he said. I live along the coast and dont put a screw in without copper compound.
  17. What ever you do make sure you copper slip/compound the new cleat screws before installing. You wont have this hassle again. You can thank me late
  18. If its 60cm C to C and 58 top tube length then I am Very interested.
  19. Absolutely perfect bud. Well done. I love it. You need a pair of TIME Titan Mag pedals for that.
  20. Is there a matching frame on the way too?
  21. Try Donovan van Gelder out. http://cybercoach.co.za/
  22. New Giant Trance is due out/ or is already out. Edit: Just seen price and over budget, sorry.
  23. Dont worry about the age of a Cannondale, that aluminium frame will outlast most modern aluminium frames. I ride a CAD 3 with a 1" Aheadset and a carbon fork, still as solid as the day it was bought. I am 1.86m tall with a 910mm inseam and ride a 60cm 'dale. The OP is 1.83 tall, just check your inseam you might be ok. My brother in law is the same height as I am but has short arms and legs and is happy on a 56-58cm 'dale.
