  1. Oh Dear...I think I have just had a little accident behind my desk
  2. Or you could look at these... http://www.vervecycling.com/infocrank/ They being brought into the country, not sure of the final price though.
  3. OK so decals all in place, about 3 hours worth of work all in all. Now just for the embossing on the frame to be painted white and the clear coat. I will post images once I have finished building the bike up over the next few weeks.
  4. Guy down here in Durban by the name of Michael Brits. His company is called Paz, he does mostly motorcycle custom work. This is the 3rd bike he has done for me..
  5. If I'm not mistaken the Treviso should be a Columbus SL tubed frame. I would say the 105 is not original equipment for that bike. Campag Chorus or Shimano 600 at a minimum would do it justice. Both very nice bikes.
  6. Decals will be black as per the original catalogue..
  7. OK so after 4 weeks I have my Colnago Master back from painting. I will put all the decals on this weekend and send it back for clear coat. I'm pretty happy with how it has come out. The clear coat will give the candy blue some nice depth. Next is to decide on saddle and bar tape colour. Black rolls with black tape or white rolls with white Cinelli Cork ribbon.... Give me some ideas hubbers.
  8. Any bike shop should have. I bought mine for my Hansom restoration from Cycle Centre in Westville.
  9. Looks very good. Who did the painting for you, very nice "white" detail on the embossed logo's.
  10. I bought mine from a guy in joburg, he imported them from total cycling I think he said. You will probably struggle to get here in SA, but most UK based shop should stock, like Chain Reaction, Merlin, etc.
  11. I don't know of any road groups leaving from Hillcrest, but Westville club and Bring It On leave from Kloof at 5 weekdays. Would be easy enough to ride down as both groups usually ride towards Hillcrest.
  12. Jen's hour machine?
  13. You can get "old school" diameter bar with ergo bends. I have a 3T "Morpheus" bar. 26mm diameter, fits in a normal quill stem.
  14. Nice ride. Sante always looked like it should have been a girls groupset, but under that white paint is a bulletproof groupset, pretty rare to find too. Post some pics once cleaned up.
  15. On old/classic bikes its all about keeping them as original as possible. Thats where the value lies. If at any stage you want to sell the bike you are more likely to get a good price if its in original condition. I am in the process of redoing my Colnago Master, it has to have a total repaint, but I'm keeping it the same as it was in the catalogue. The way I see it, these bikes are history, they tell a story to tell. Keeping them original does them justice and gives them a new lease on life... But that's just me.
  16. Looking good ... Like I said, labour of love and lots of patience. Glad to see you haven't plastidipped anything Tough luck with the seat post... keep looking you will get another one.
  17. Aluminium foil and water works a treat. There is a whole chemical explanation for how it works. Google it to understand. But it does work really well.
  18. Some pictures of the affected areas would help. Difficult to give advice otherwise.
  19. Point taken
  20. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/142471-safety-of-cyclists-in-jeopardy-in-sa/page__hl__safety Just read this article the other day and one could preserve it as a bit of a marketing ploy. Could be intentional or not, but it created the perception. The hub is a crazy place as I have learned over the few years I have been part of it. I guess we can agree that we don't always agree with each other, and that's not always a bad thing.
  21. Maybe his approach wasn't the best, I will give you that. But a lot of people seem to be targeting his product and that's not necessarily fair. Take him up on his marketing strategy by all means. Just seems a lot of guys are knocking the product when it should be the way he went about it. I see a lot of people "marketing" here on the hub. Kinda feel this guy had a "RAW" deal
  22. Amazing at how this poor guy is getting nailed from all directions when all he is doing is selling a natural product that works. Yet we are happy to buy into the "Sport Nutrition" Industry hype, why don't we give them half the hassles this poor dude is getting. His product is natural and good for you, unlike most of the other stuff that's sold at a lot more. I say good luck and I hope you succeed.
  23. Agreed, I have bought some stuff from him. A lot of what he has is NOS or VGC.
  24. Think you referring to Glen. He doesn't really restore bikes, he finds really good condition bikes and builds them up. I have PM'd you his Cell no.
  25. Just finished this on Monday night, took about 2 hrs. I use the water paper to get all the scratches out, the Brasso is slightly abrasive, almost like rubbing compound a panel shop would use. This takes out the very fine scratches left over. And lastly Autosol to give it a high shine. To avoid oxidization make sure the frame stays dry, sweat is no. 1 cause. So clean the parts with a moist cloth after every ride. The correct way would be to Naturally Anodize the parts, but this is not practical for the frame you have.
