  1. The original Zini bikes were made in Italy, if the 1 you have is from the '70's then maybe its an "original" Italian one. Gotty Hanson got the rights to manufacture them in SA under the name Zini. He also produced Peugeot bikes is memory serves me. In the late '80's early '90's the whole local bike industry took a dive and all the guys were forced to shut shop. Very sad as its an era I grew up racing in.
  2. Dude love following your Posts/Collection..(Sell me one please) I had the bike (not a Mongoose), the kit, helmet, etc... and then my folks wouldn't let my brother and I race...
  3. May be a plan... Will see what father Christmas brings in my bonus... Lol... And if the post office has decided to go back to work...
  4. So I finally got my Colnago Master back from painting this Friday. Ready to assemble. Have some stuff coming from the UK, so hopefully this postal strike won't go on too much longer as I really need to ride this bike. I'm pretty happy with the end result.
  5. Massive respect.
  6. Im interested Lets see some pics..
  7. I love seeing all these old bikes. You have a very impressive collection, and a neat garage
  8. No lugs on an old bike like that, interesting.
  9. Could also be your seat post. I would suggest stripping the bike and rebuilding and using Copper Slip on all the bolts, screws and and mating surface. Ie: Seat post, Stem, BB, etc.. Aluminium is a bugger when it gets wet, or if 2 mating surfaces are dry. The material "frets", basically trying to bond itself together. The noise resonates through the frame and sometimes is hard to pin point the problem area. I live along the coast and all my bikes I build up using copper slip, never had an issue.
  10. Oh Dear...I think I have just had a little accident behind my desk
  11. Or you could look at these... http://www.vervecycling.com/infocrank/ They being brought into the country, not sure of the final price though.
  12. OK so decals all in place, about 3 hours worth of work all in all. Now just for the embossing on the frame to be painted white and the clear coat. I will post images once I have finished building the bike up over the next few weeks.
  13. Guy down here in Durban by the name of Michael Brits. His company is called Paz, he does mostly motorcycle custom work. This is the 3rd bike he has done for me..
  14. If I'm not mistaken the Treviso should be a Columbus SL tubed frame. I would say the 105 is not original equipment for that bike. Campag Chorus or Shimano 600 at a minimum would do it justice. Both very nice bikes.
  15. Decals will be black as per the original catalogue..
  16. OK so after 4 weeks I have my Colnago Master back from painting. I will put all the decals on this weekend and send it back for clear coat. I'm pretty happy with how it has come out. The clear coat will give the candy blue some nice depth. Next is to decide on saddle and bar tape colour. Black rolls with black tape or white rolls with white Cinelli Cork ribbon.... Give me some ideas hubbers.
  17. Any bike shop should have. I bought mine for my Hansom restoration from Cycle Centre in Westville.
  18. Looks very good. Who did the painting for you, very nice "white" detail on the embossed logo's.
  19. I bought mine from a guy in joburg, he imported them from total cycling I think he said. You will probably struggle to get here in SA, but most UK based shop should stock, like Chain Reaction, Merlin, etc.
  20. I don't know of any road groups leaving from Hillcrest, but Westville club and Bring It On leave from Kloof at 5 weekdays. Would be easy enough to ride down as both groups usually ride towards Hillcrest.
  21. Jen's hour machine?
  22. You can get "old school" diameter bar with ergo bends. I have a 3T "Morpheus" bar. 26mm diameter, fits in a normal quill stem.
  23. Nice ride. Sante always looked like it should have been a girls groupset, but under that white paint is a bulletproof groupset, pretty rare to find too. Post some pics once cleaned up.
  24. On old/classic bikes its all about keeping them as original as possible. Thats where the value lies. If at any stage you want to sell the bike you are more likely to get a good price if its in original condition. I am in the process of redoing my Colnago Master, it has to have a total repaint, but I'm keeping it the same as it was in the catalogue. The way I see it, these bikes are history, they tell a story to tell. Keeping them original does them justice and gives them a new lease on life... But that's just me.
  25. Looking good ... Like I said, labour of love and lots of patience. Glad to see you haven't plastidipped anything Tough luck with the seat post... keep looking you will get another one.
