  1. Looks amazing, who did that paint for you?
  2. Spent Saturday stripping down, cleaning, polishing and rebuilding the Moser. Its has a Columbus SLX tubeset and is a Team issue frame, so top of the range in its day. I decided to keep the Shimano 600 Tricolour on it for now. The bike was bought new as a frame set only and the owner had the bike shop build it with 600. So I decided to keep it as originally purchased. A few small chips on the paint, but otherwise in superb condition, even the chrome is amazing considering its age and living along the Durban coastline.
  3. English could never explain it like that... Love Afrikaans
  4. Stillson wrench is the correct name Not like I'm nitpicking or anything...
  5. Slide hammer will take it out. I got an old Campag aero seat post out of a 20 old year old Tommasini a while ago. Have done it many times, always works. When you put it back, use copper slip it will save you this hassle down the line. Alu on Alu is a terrible combination, specially along the coastline. Copper slip on everything.
  6. A nice new house maybe... Oops, did I say that out loud
  7. The Superb Pro groupset that is for sale would work nicely on this frame too. I know its not Campag, but its was such a brilliant groupset in its day. Just another option if you like.
  8. Got this over the weekend, agreed on a price with the seller last night (who happens to be a guy I know very well). It was his fathers bike and he bought it new and spec'd it with Shimano 600 7 Speed. I have a Campag C-Record groupset with Delta's that i think may look very nice on this frame. Frame is in amazing condition, 2 or 3 paint chips and the chrome is in outstanding condition. Pictures not the greatest, will post once I have stripped and cleaned it all up.
  9. Cheapest would be to let some air out of the tyre so that it can "nest" in the wheel holder. Only down side is you have to inflate your wheels every time you take the bike off the rack.
  10. Take the liners out. The overlap of the liner causes a pinch flat on the tube, specially at high pressures on road tyres. Rather run slim in your tubes if you are really worried about flats.
  11. Just a question, do you run tyre liners in them at all? If so, there is your problem. GatorSkins are almost bullet proof. I have used as training tyres for many, many years and have maybe had 2 or 3 flats on them. I do however run Vittoria tyres on my race wheels. Love them.
  12. I say keep it original. Take a look at this site, they have spares/Original Decals if you need. Also some interesting reading and history. http://vintagecannondale.com/
  13. RIP, thinking of his family and friends at this time.
  14. I bought 2 disk brake rotors off CRC the Monday before Christmas, paid for DHL because even with DHL the 2 were R300 cheaper than I could get locally. They arrived at work the Friday before Christmas (so 4 days from order) and I didn't get charged vat or customes. I always go the DHL route, still works out cheaper generally.
  15. I've just had Arch EX Mk3's built onto XT high flange hubs that I got for a steal from CRC (R700.00 for both to be exact). Total wheel build was 5k. Super happy with the Arch EX rims. And yes, I know the XT hubs are'nt Hope's, but I'm a bit old school and like to be able to service and adjust my hubs and I am not worried about weight too much. Its a combo that works for me.
  16. As far as I know the 8 speed freewheel body will only take an 8 speed cassette. If memory serves me correct, the 8 speed has a different lock ring as well and they not easy to get. I'm sure the Campag boys will have more info.
  17. I actually have a full lug and tube set to build a frame, the lug set is Cinelli the same as in the images above. The one difference is the seat clamp lug, it looks like any normal seat lug. A real vintage Cinelli has its own style lug (image below) This is what to look for if you buying a vintage, steel Cinelli.
  18. I partly agree with you here, but what if it was a child, could/would they be expected to take the same reasonable measure to avoid what happened to this guy? Im just playing devils advocate here, and fully understand that this particular case has its own merit.
  19. That sounds like BS. Surely they have an obligation to keep their equipment safe for the general public, Ie: danger of injury or death caused by low hanging cables. I'm no lawyer or insurance broker, but they must have public liability cover for this kind of thing.
  20. That would be good marketing for sure. The first versions like the ones I have had the issue with the velcro. I also have re-glued mine a few time... just saying
  21. These work very well. I bought a set ages ago from CWC and use them on my Thule hanging rack for my kids bikes. Much better than a pool noodle and they dont get lost in transit somewhere along the freeway. I find most racks bikes sit very close, this way I know non of the bikes will rub against each other. Im very happy with how they work, just my 2 cents.
  22. She turned out nice Steve. You use vinyl decals or water transfer and where did you get them from?
  23. I had Rowland Visser do a fit for me on my MTB, very thorough and never felt he was rushing the session. He knows his stuff, done a few Epics, 7 or so IronMan events around the world, and run I don't know how many Comrades Marathons. I would recommend him if you live close by. Deno in Ballito is also very good, he has just won World Champs 35-39 age group in Perth a few weeks back, so another guy who knows what he is talking about. Anyone can be "trained" to use equipment, but understanding the mechanics of the body and transferring that onto the bike is where the difference comes in. That's just how I see it anyway.
  24. Or alternatively you could use something like this and keep the frame untouched.
