City has been clearing up along the road down from the Nek to Hout Bay with fire department doing some maintenance to hydrants....one of these was on the bike path at the main left corner halfway down the route, it was a manhole very close to the road and I believe the lid was destroyed by trucks riding to close to the edge on the corner, leaving a gaping hole which was camouflaged by grass..... a death trap if you didn't know it was there! Anyway, they have replaced and painted the lid!!! Great work!!! BTW came across Toby the trail fairy doing some drainage repairs the trail...great work Toby, thanks for your efforts!

Yip, past the entrance boom, turn first left in about 50m, start climbing the jeep track, trail starts on left about 200m up the jeep track...all well sign posted...

But seriously, there's only one real route to the top...the Irish climb....there are jeep tracks of course but you only got 1 day there right? BTW you will impress us all if you manage more than 2 full DH runs on a conventional DH bike!!!

Pro tip: even if there is space, detach rear derailleur at hanger and tape up between chain stays...easy enough to re-assemble and saves lotsa heartache and $$'s
