  1. jeez I have no idea what its called, just happen to find them. I think it is in value centre or something like that, it is a clothing factory shop near or opposite the K59 mall there.
  2. I got a pair of Dekine ventilator full finger at a shop out in boksburg for 60 bucks, they have bins with plenty for sale, just a hassle to find a size as they mix all women's, kiddies etc in the bins. had some issues with stitching failing in some areas but for the price you cant complain, get a few to swop around look and feel for the price of one pair elsewhere.
  3. as the title says, what can be done to make this bike lighter? Bike is a Giant Trance x4 model http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bikes/model/trance.x4/7321/44098/#specifications My GF has been riding this bike now for almost a year and she is really enjoying it, only problem now is that the weight of the bike is becoming an issue so I am now looking at what can be done to drop some weight off the bike. I am currently looking at the following for now: - wheel change from the standard SXC-2 to Easton EA90XC - found these going for R2500 - groupset change from old deore to new 2 x 10 SLX (crank, bb, cassette, derailer, shifters and chain) - still looking for a set availble - handle bar and stem maybe - still looking - new tyres (UST tubeless will be a good start) - still looking Any other suggestions or ideas would be greatly appreciated?
  4. you can also opt for the silver anodising route, or even a colour anodised frame. the pics are of my old HT stripped own and silver anodised. easy to clean and wears very well.
  5. Changed back to the original evolution layout with colour and changed up the clear down tube protective to a full colour to match the rest.
  6. Well gents check the images, this is what I have lying around. I also have the stock evolution decal artwork and stock wheel artwork so if you wanna keep it stock with just different colours that can be done as well.
  7. No worries, I can do that as well.
  8. I got plenty spare fox shock decals that I was playing around with the colours etc (they based on the heritage decal layout), the rim decals are similar to the originals just made bigger, changed the colour up and made the text slighty bolder etc. If you want let me know as they just gonna sit there or be binned, I will post a pic up tomorrow of what I have. If you want custom I can do that as well just let me know.
  9. Too much time on my hands at the office lately, decided to beautify black betty.
  10. Got my gf a pair of ion from cycle lab fourways and a pair dekline from swindle with extra inners(the deklines are the preferred pair now and swindle turn around time was awesome, 2 days order to door)
  11. Anyone know if the reign 2 wheels would be a suitable upgrade for the trance instead of going the more expensive flow route? If yes, anyone selling some?
  12. Dude were you at red barn this arvie?
  13. Well this was a great event, my day ended in disaster, got a entire 100m odd on sp1 under my belt before knocking a hole in my rear tire on the first rock garden, then when trying to re-inflate the flat the valve broke, managed to fit a new tube and continue a further 100m and boom, tube burst. Guess today was just not meant to be. Must say though yesterday was a blast, rode sp1, 3 and 4 with Matt from Cotic and his crew, genuine guys and a hoot the entire time. Lets hope next time goes better, either that or going old school perma-tubes.
  14. Hey dude, nice meeting you on Saturday.
  15. Went out there this morning to check out the sp1-sp3 trails. Nicely done, was loads of fun and met some friendly guys on the trail as well. Looking forward to the enduro on the 8th.
  16. Sounds like Wyatt has given you some solid advise there. I have both flats (saints) and cleats (shimano PD-M424 with Shimano MT-44 shoes) and 99% of the time ride with cleats. I Have found the flats to be great when riding new places or when I am not sure of what terrain I am going to be riding but for my normal riding, VG, red barn, HK, taba, spruit etc I find cleats to still work great. yes flats do help improve skill levels with the way you ride the bike but if you used to cleats then stick with them.
  17. Met Dominic this morning while he was building some new trails with some of his crew. Bud you doing a great job at the barn, awesome trails and just getting better and better. Will be there again tomorrow to try out the new table top bridge jump with the new line. Maybe next time we meet you will have your bike with you and we grab a beer after. Cheers, Marius (the guy with the yellow baggies on the trance)
  18. Hey Bennie, the case is called a lovemei case. Got it online for R450 incl del. It is for a samsung galaxy s4. Very protective but very weighty.
  19. New pair of saints courtesy of CWC seeing as my old pair are now on the gf's bike. New protective phone case as well to try out.
  20. Took the gf out for her first ride at BRB this morning. She absolutely loved the st and easy riding of the place and gave me a new appreciation of how cool it really is to ride there. I was able to branch off on a couple of the routes to hit the usual jumps etc that feature along the way, it is getting so much better to ride there. Big up to all the guys putting in the effort to make things a lot more exciting. The jumps are much better than they used to be, even with the log tops. I checked plenty soil lying around so looks like much more to be expected. Just one question though, could the two drop offs be cleaned up a little, maybe with a little more flow leading up to them, think its called broken rib, just odd to have to do a loop just to do them. And if the 3 guys riding this morning on their AM machines are on thehub, nice job riding those spots, santacruz and commencal bikes, dont see many guys riding those areas as well.
  21. Considering that bikes now cost a small fortune, surpasing most small car prices, it is no wonder that theft and highjacking is becoming a regular occurrence in our 3rd world poverty enriched country. I have insured my bikes but i think most do this now, it doesnt resolve the problems, just helps us financially when replacing them, surely more companies like Tracker can get on board with small light weight tracking units, what about bike manufacturers using datadot tech on parts etc. Something like this www.integratedtrackers.com are there more products out there that are locally available and supported?
