  1. Agreed - we trook a chilled ride back along Sea Point on the Promenade and what a beautiful day, heading down to the beach soon .
  2. Amashova is hugely underrated in my opinion, amazing route and lekke vibe!
  3. I tend to agree with you, and I think it is really high time that the organisers rethink their general contingency plans. Wind you cannot control but the authorities have known about the protests for some time and it CANNOT be allowed that a world class event be held hostage by protest action of any kind. I'm really worried that the Argus (ok, ok the CTCT) is going to lose much of its appeal and magic in coming years. Or maybe its just the dissapointment speaking...
  4. For those left in the cold not to worry. Come February the classifieds will be flooded with unwanted entries and chances are you might pick up a race number at half price from desperate sellers. Mine is paid, booked, confirmed and now to decide if I should embark on that overdue epic road trip down south or take the green aerie... .
  5. Also in and really excited (there really is just something about this race). Admin any chance that we could merge this thread with the official event thread?
  6. Look, be it as it may but the organisers had to do something to manage the immense interest in (and emotion around) the CCCT. I have though a lot about this and I’m also not one to complain without at least proposing some kind of alternative. How about about: You have 5 separate entry allocation protocols that go into a pre-registration pool and a registration pool: PRE-REGISTRATION POOL: 1. CCCT Veterans If you are completing 10+ CCCT’s you are secured an entry – a la Sani2C where you “keep” that entry and only forfeit it by not participating. Forfeited entries are made available into the registration pool or to other “new” veterans. 2. PPA A number of PPA entries are made available, awarded on a first come forst serve basis. Forfeited entries are made available into the registration pool or to other PPA members. 3. Charities A number of entries are reserved for charity entries. Any unused entries are made available into the registration pool. 3. International Entries A number of entries are reserved for international participants, allocate entries according to the current ballot system. Any unused entries are made available into the registration pool. REGISTRATION POOL: 1. Racing Categories A number of entries are awarded to entrants in each racing category based on seeding index…e.g. if your index is below 12 and you are participating in VA you have an entry. 2. Open Categories Here perhaps 2 options: 1 - allocate entries to all open categories according to the current ballot system. 2 – allocate entries to the more “serious” open categories (let’s say A – G) according to seeding index (i.e the better your seeding, the better your chance of securing an entry), for the rest use the current ballot system. ANY REDUNDANT ENTRY CAN BE SOLD BACK INTO THE POOL UNTIL A WEEK OR TWO PRIOR TO THE RACE. May sound complicated to actually implement but think about it…any ideas?
  7. As someone already noted above I wouldn’t worry too much; come February and the classifieds will be flooded with redundant entries. I have a buddy who've competed 5 times and never entered during the September entry frenzy...
  8. My dad always says it takes a great man to admit his mistakes so yap, I should have taken the time to read on...On my part, I'm terribly dissapointed about Sunday's race but, having spent thousands on my fouvourite annual thing EVER, I will remain positive and enjoy every moment of this (still) extraordinary experience. Deal on the drink, but first round's on me .
  9. Very nice, yes. Shows a lot of character. (And no, I'm not gonna sift through all of the 51 pages to try and find the much expected justification...).
  10. Call me a gatkruiper or whatever but - I think The Hub is probably one of few online forums where moderators constantly get attacked and insulted by community members who think they own the place...this sense of entitlement should be the first thing to go. This said, I think there should be one non-negotiable all encompassing rule: The moderators shall be treated with the neccesary respect and their word and discretion is law...if you don't like it, leave; and if you don't agree, keep it to yourself.
  11. Thanks Matt. Perhaps a bit overdue but great news nonetheless. I agree with your general sentiment. I was away from this forum for about 6 weeks over December / January and I was friggin appalled to see what was going on around here when I logged in yesterday. I have been part of the community for many years and The Hub has seen its ups and downs, but never before have the bickering, sneering and attacks been so relentless and malicious. I think the time for niceties is over...We can wait no longer to try and salvage what is left of the integrity and credibility of The Hub forums.
  12. - double post -
  13. Thanks man!
  14. A bit of leg-loosening after the 94.7 weekend, with some serious climbs in the Waterberg on Sunday. The hills were alive with the sound of burning legs... At least there were adequate support from the Hubbers of tomorrow...
  15. Absolutely. If you have every cent...that is.
  16. My first ever Kollekat sighting. Initially thought I would have to settle for a pair of paws hanging from a tree... That's until the female and her almost grown cub moved and treated us to a little skirmish in a tree next to the bakkie - the result of which is the second photograph of a very guilty-looking young guy and a somewhat irritated mother...
  17. In Beeld today. http://www.beeld.com...kkie-hulle-tref So sad and unneccesary. RIP fellow cyclists .

    D2D 2014

Agreed. The race was a dissapointment...seems like they tried to invest the bare minimum while charging the maximum...

    D2D 2014

This got me thinking - why not establish a Hub network whereby any Hubber close to number pickup volunteer to collect race numbers for Hubbers who live far away from these venues. Then one can have a lekker Hub gazebo at each race where Hubbers can meet, pick-up numbers beforehand and share a cold one afterwards. O ja, starting in AL - gonna be faaaaaaast.
  21. Well, clearly not much...if one observes rule #88
  22. Yup - that. There's virtually nothing you won't find on YouTube...take the advice you get from whichever source and check on the Toob - with the added advantage that there are usually demo's as well.
