  1. It's actually the same as in the clothing industry, all the R&D is done by the big branded companies. These designs are then sent to the manufacturers in China because it is a lot cheaper to produce there. These blank frames are then just painted and branded and sold onto us at a premium. "Hand built in Germany" should actually be "Built in China, packaged in Germany and assembled by your local bikeshop"
  2. I have to same problem with my Ghost, it has Magura MT2 brakes, I tried anything short of replacing the pads and rotor but it still persists.
  3. When are you guys plannng another outing, as I would seriously like to come and join you guys but I always seem to have other things that ruin it for me.
  4. I own a Axis A60 and it is a great bike. Had no issues at all. Just put on better tires.
  5. Some walking. My feeling is that the Blue Route should be mark as Mountain Bike optional, I spend more time pushing my bike then riding it.
  6. They still make bikes with longer travel. Look at the Cagua, Northshore or Downhill bikes, all of them have more then 160mm of travel. Unluckily it seems only the Cagua is coming to SA.
  7. This is an interesting device and works with endomondo, meaning it can keep track of your workout on your phone.
  8. Tried the new Green route. The climbs are killers but the downhills are fast and fun. I don't have the skill or the balls to try the blue yet, maybe I could join some of you experienced guys to see how it should be done.
  9. Some more pics. For all the details go and take a look at http://www.ghost-bikes.com Can wait.
  10. Well, I have a Ghost MTB and I am in the market for a roadie and this is the baby I want.
  11. Axis AR30 Full 105 groupset RRP - R9200 And Cajee's have a lot of stock and are giving good deals on it.
  12. The AMR Lector (carbon) will apparently weight less then 11kg.
  13. I have a almost new Axis A60 I would like to get rid off. I bought it in March and bought a Dual Suspension Ghost in April.
  14. I am no pro but I had a look at the Axis A10 29er, I actually am thinking of getting one. Their RRP is R12k but the one bikeshop that I went to could give it to me for R10k.
  15. Everybody seems to forget that normal old 'mieliepap' is probably one of the best foods to eat for sustained energy. And if you don't believe that asked the other millions of hard working South Africans that eat it. Yes I know what some of you will say, they don't train so intensely as some of us do. But at the same time when was the last time that one had to get up at 4 in the morning to get work, then spend the day doing real physical, hard work and then only get back to your home at 7 or 8, and then to do that everyday.
  16. I replaced my Schwable Racing Ralph's wit a set of Vredestein Extreme Black Panther's and I must say that I am very happy. They have grip where the Schwable's starting slipping. They also clear mud well. I am no expert but I like them.
  17. I have bought it yet, I am still trying to talk myself out of it
  18. I actually want to make her a offer to buy the place. The owners are useless, and they don't even know there target market. They had a art show going on over the weekend, I really don't feel like buying art after I just did 40km at Rietvlei. I would've rather had 32GI or PVM doing sampling or had Anatomic have a expo there of their clothes. Their biggest market is the mountain bikers that flock there every weekend, but what do they do for us.
  19. Although the service at Lady Marmelade, the coffee shop at Rietvlei Farms, has always been slightly bad. They have really taken it to a new level today. While I go for a ride, my girlfriend and my son goes and plays and feed the animals at the farm, when he get tried they normally go to the coffee shop. She always complains that the service is slow and the food is, another topic. But today when I joined them they had been waiting 20 minutes with no help. I then waited another 10 minutes. She begged me not to make a scene, so we just left. Has anybody else have any bad or less bad stories about Lady Marmelade.
  20. Cajees have good prices on complete bikes, and they can find anything. They are just extremely expensive when it comes to components and extras, and never take your bike there to be serviced.
  21. Ghost wll launch a 29er full suspension range in 2013. Can't wait to get my hands on a new AMR 29er.
  22. Garmin also has better after sales service.
  23. First 40km ever, did a 2:41 which I am not happy with. But I must say a broken front derailer made it a bit more difficult.
  24. Only been on a bike for 5 month or so, and I tried Thaba Blue route to see how it is, and halfway up Wendell's Way I got confused. Was I mountain biking or hiking. I hated it but it is my target is to get to the top without having to carry my bike. Thaba +1
