  1. I present to you: The Snozzcumber Momsen STR frame, Fox 34 fork, Lyne 780 bars and 50mm stem and the rest some old XT kit and ZTR wheelset and some ancient tyres pirated off my Niner MCR ... I think these wheels are still from my On One Inbred SS from many moons ago and this is the 4th bike they're on with no hassles whatsoever so they've done well. The frame arrived with a weird mat finish which had a strange feel to it and I wasn't sure I liked so I used some rubbing compound and polish and gave it a bit of a gloss look .. it was an improvement in my opinion. I still need to change tyres and I'm sure the itch after that will extend to the groupset and brakes ... maybe a dropper. Not sure if I'll go all out on this one as it's meant to be a second bike to muck about with but you know how it goes .... Tyre clearance at the back is pretty tight but I'm sure it'll fit a modest 2.3, the fork is unbelievable and has a relatively short axle to crown height for the travel so does not seem to throw the geometry out ... had a decent time coming down Helderberg Trails this evening so all in all I am very happy!
  2. First post in quite some time but what the hell ... I'll bite. I still need to decide on tires and most of the kit on it is ancient as I stripped my beloved Niner MCR but I guess it's just a matter of time before the upgrades begin. The Donor Bike: The itch that became a swipe:
  3. Great ride & great report Dane! Makes one want to tackle the old OV24 again.
  4. Everyone still happy with these Lyne posts in terms of reliability and wear? Been through a couple of Giant posts and have started viewing them as consumable items.
  5. I can't "like" this post enough!
  6. Aaahhhh ok makes sense now, must say I really like the HDR green! Ya you never need an excuse to tinker....many a happy hour spent in the garage randomly swapping out bike parts or fixing things that were never broken in the first place.
  7. I've looked at getting one of those covers and to be honest the FD mount does not bother me at all. I would however love to see a pic of that green 110 of yours...I really like that colour! Was that a custom job?
  8. Loved my 110....fantastic bikes. I hate to tell you this though....that Project is not complete until you've blacked out those cranks...
  9. I have to agree with this. I had a warrantee issue with a product, called Pierre at Hullabaloo, sent him a mail with a picture on Monday and received a replacement via Courier earlier today no questions asked. What a pleasure....thanks Pierre!
  10. <<<SOLD>>> I am selling the FOX Talas off my Pascoe if anyone is looking for a fork for their build. Will knock R1000 of my asking price and take 6K from anyone buying a Pascoe frame off Bibi. https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/127660-fox-36-talas-140-180-rc2/
  11. Not sure who did the original build but I bought her off a dude in Franschoek...I think he bought the frame from Outdoor Escape to replace an IBIS he had cracked "just riding along..." Anyway gents it's off to bed for me, up at 4AM to catch the first flight to Jozi to go earn some bike tokens. Looking forward to Friday...will post pics.
  12. Yup it's Bibi's fault he gave me a spin on his in the Jonkers parking lot, the itch kicked in and it was downhill from there. I was just lucky the timing worked out with selling my 110. The bike is waiting for me in Stellenbosch and I'm gonna be stuck in Joburg for the next three days....feel like a kid counting the sleeps till Christmas!
  13. That there MRP 160 on Bibi's Pascoe is still the smoothest fork I have ever had the pleasure of trying. WANT WANT WANT!
  14. Holdfast makes them, contact the reps off the website or ask one of the dealers to order for you.
  15. If it was an emergency or what qualifies as a PMB condition your medical aid has to cover the full amount by law. If it's an elective surgery IE you had the chance to "shop around" they're unlikely to cover more than prescribed rates. Fedhealth wanted to pay around 30 of the 130k bill when I destroyed my ankle but I got the whole amount paid out in the end. Talk to the surgeon re how to go about it.
  16. Ditto for my 150mm Heckler vs Pyga 110
  17. I had a similar hub on my On One, it was a hack to try and get replacement screw on cogs in any size larger than 18 and with the torque you put through that cog on a SS you end up winding them on so tight it was near impossible to get them off again. On the flatlands you should be OK but in the Cape it didn't work for me.
  18. Any of you guru's stock or know where to get matchmakers for running the new XT brakes with SRAM X9 shifters? I see "http://problemsolversbike.com/" has some but would like to get some locally if possible.
  19. You know who to contact when that fork needs a new home! Bike looks great Ryan...almost ready to break my Niner out of hibernation and get cracking on a bit of a make-over
  20. The Heckler in Gulf Racing strip...
  21. Mr and Mrs Cruz
  22. Once word gets out that one or two have been made an example of the rest will quickly sharpen up.
  23. These bikes are so much more than light. They could be, be that's not what you get them for.
