  1. My favourite bed-time thread...thanks to all for their great contributions, this really makes you want to get out there and just ride ride ride...
  2. It's a pity Hell and Back is so late in the year. Would be fun to go ride and then just keep going home from there....early November too hot?
  3. Let's build it. Best would be to get a date and the rest of the details will sort themselves out.
  4. More Wood's panniers fell of three times within the first km of our trip in the Drakensberg last year. Some choice language was heard that day. The bikes get pretty heavy fully laden...for riding no problem, for hiking up die Leer perhaps not so fun
  5. Would love to be part of Dikwiel Kommando. Is this a panniers and camping or lightweight bikepacking and BnB kindof trip?
  6. Anyone looking for one of those rigid On One 29 forks....I have one for sale. It is currently connected to and will be sold with an Inbred 29 with sliding dropouts, ss specific wheelset (Sunn rims on DMR revolver hubs), fleegle bars, Shimano hydraulics and there really isn't much more to the bike than that. PM me your email address and Ill send pics and details tomorrow from the office when I'm meant to be working. Oh ya its a medium frame.
  7. PS I'm riding like a boss now! The singlespeed is probably going to have to go though...
  8. Not sure where you are based but the ortho surgeon that dealt with my trashed ankle has just done his 7th Sani in a row so must have a decent idea of the impact on riding... Perhaps its worth having a chat with him...he is based in Stellenbosch so if you are keen I can forward you his details. Having to go through two surgeries following a rather disastrous front tyre burp incident and having had to spend several months wondering whether or not I was going to be able to ride properly again I understand what a frustration and concern it can be.
  9. Cool....let me know when black 'n green is up for grabs then!
  10. Hello Hairy, fancy meeting you here. You still in for OV24?
  11. Anyone got a sizing chart for these bikes....what sort of height range would a Large cater for?
  12. Here he is a couple of months back....the scoot bike is his most loved and prized posession (after his tonka toy digger loader of course....), I sometimes cringe when i see how fast he shunts on it.
  13. Someone had one of these at SSWC and they had cable tied wooden "platforms" onto the pedal, crank and chainstay to form footrests for the kid on the back. I've found with mine that my son doesn't keep his pedals level on singletrack so if you're not careful you sometimes connect rocks / roots etc...you have to keep reminding yourself to take it easy and turn wide. I guess it's not designed for singletrack but it does the job! Alex just turned three, he is quite tall and he is able to pedal though he usually just parks off and makes you do the work. These were taken on Eselfontein farm this weekend.
  14. Very nice....I'd be tempted to pull those stickers of the fork though - stealth mode. Must be nice and light now! How's the other project coming along?
  15. Yours sounds like a Nigerian 419 scam.
  16. Nope I've known Murray for years, he's a good man to get on board. Yo Murray sharpen up on the grammar ek se!
  17. Chief reporter of the Cape Argus. Here's an opportunity to get someone on board publicising issues re bike paths, thefts, bikejacking, commuting or whatever else theHub spends their days moaning about and you respond like this? Nice.
  18. He looks like the janitor from "Scrubs"
  19. There's nothing wrong with these forks....you have a bit of to and fro flex under front wheel braking but that also helps with absorbing vibration / corrugations. The particular fork in the picture was on my On One when I got it from the UK (off ebay)....I sold it to someone who did 2 Freedom challenges on it and bought it back from him a year later and they look NONE the worse for wear.
  20. That looks exactly like the On One Carbon fork...same manufacturers no doubt.
  21. Awesome and welcome to the good times! Drive safe mate, see you for a ride sometime.
  22. ipcentrx - were you robbed or was it stolen? I ride in that area on a regular basis and would appreciate it if you could let me know if there is / was a danger hotspot to avoid. I'll send this post on to a mate that has a bikeshop there and ask them to distribute and keep a lookout. Cheers,

  24. 24 x 16!?
  25. What about driving to work, cycling home in the afternoon, cycle back in the morning, drive home in the afternoon etc....once a day is a lot easier to stomach than twice if you want it to be sustainable.
