  1. And luggage going missing is a worldwide issue, definitely not exclusively a problem in SA
  2. Afaik they do not accept full responsibility for your possessions, check the t&cs on the ticket regarding luggage
  3. I looked into a tracking device for bikes, biggest issue is battery life, the idea is sound and would create a way to track at least a few of the parts if they strip it, a better option would be if the component manufacturers create a tracker crankset with a small dynamo and a rechargeable battery in that.
  4. Not really, even if you do not protect from theft, the possibility of damage in transit is possible(anywhere you travel), even in a bikebox
  5. Who doesn't insure a 100 grand bike when it is going internationally anyway...
  6. Pinelands, Cape Town....long way from the East Rand good sir
  7. Mailed, many thanks Tractor
  8. Yeah sadly no red. They were one of the few that had anything at all that i coyld find
  9. Ok, maybe i should have specified....at a reasonable rate and not overseas... R131 per meter is ridiculous
  10. Anyone know where i can get, noone seems to carry stock, plenty of gear outer available
  11. Looks like that is JUST the pack itself, no bladder, bladder for the 2L is an extra R220
  12. I have to agree with the comments above regarding mud on the mouth piece of a bottle, and some of the mud is not just mud....so rather the backpack which keeps the mouthpiece out of the main flow of mud....
  13. Solomons have specials on Camelbaks at the moment
  14. I got a 1.5l from a fellow hubber(new from a shop) and am very happy with it, wish it had a pocket so that i could put my tools/spares in it, but will get a bigger one later. The 1.5l is more than enough for any event providing you are happy to stop at water points to refill....
  15. Speed and Cadence sensor for a phone makes no sense, why worry about the speed when GPS is far more accurate anyway and no need for a magnet on the wheel..... R950 for cadence/speed R1500 for HRM and 4000 for phone.... Seriously, buy a cheap phone for emergency R250 and Garmin bundle for rest, R3500.... Still comes in R250 under the iphone alone(and you don't have to have an iphone in your life either)
  16. Honda Civic....can fit two bikes inside with wheels on, or Two on the roof, one inside(front wheel off with one side seat down, and still enough space for all passengers,,,,without moving the front seat to accomodate a tiny person i love my car....so adaptable...
  17. With my Samsung S4 i can use the ANT+ cadence and hrm, but i would not do that on a regular basis, have an old Nokia as my riding phone and a dedicated Garmin....much better option, no worrying about someone snatching the phone at a robot, or worrying about breaking my expensive phone should i fall
  18. since when did garmin not allow you to follow previous routes?
  19. ....ERM.....4k for phone, 1.5k for bluetooth HRM, not sure if you can get a bluetooth Cadence sensor...but i would estimate another 1.5k....so you spending 7k for a device that is big and nulky, that you need a bar mount that will look like the boot spoiler from a Le Mans car.... Garmin 500 kits all in for R3500....better deal in my idea, and you still have battery life on your phone....
  20. Looking for the person that purchased the second Scott Contessa from TVRIGGS over the weekend, we have been supplied the incorrect front wheels on the bikes, if you could contact me directly to allow us to get together to switch them so we both have a matched pair of wheels The young man in question has misplaced your details Regards
  21. Will probably be easier to buy a second hand cassette than find the individual cog
  22. I have a 500(upgraded from the 305 due to battery issue) and also have the 705,would not consider any other deice as a substitute
  23. Sounds more like a spyware/virus infection to me, check the addons in your browser
  24. Believe me when i say, just get on the bike and ride, you will enjoy it, just remember to stay within your own limits, distance is not really the factor to consider, more your own fitness level
  25. From my understanding, you need to leave the chain in the motor oil for a longer period of time for it to work properly as it will(and i use this term loosely) "bond" or soak ibto the chain material better that way
