  9. What an AWESOME day, i hate the heat, so appreciated the cooler weather....got a bit much with the wind as well. Had an enjoyable ride with the mrs, she started struggling with the hills VERY early on, i don't think anything can prepare you for this ride the first time.... All in all a good day and we finished in 4:34ish from N group....thanks to the Durban community for the organisation, please try and secure Coca Cola for the finish....
  10. Hi bobbie Many thanks for organising the sandwiches and cup cakes at the finish, it was nice to regain some energy. It was an amazing turn out of cows, we sadly missed the charity start, but this enabled us to see the quantity of cows that had dropped back to ride with friends/family in other groups. To follow on from bobbie's request, we are still in the process of fundraising to help CHOC, and i have started a seperate thread for fundraising towards the 94.7 https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/132089-choc-at-947/ Thanks again for everything. Mark and Meryl
  11. Hi all, Following on from bobbie's request for help with fund raising for the Amashova, the CHOC Cows had an AMAZING turnout at the Amashova, and it was great to see everyone enjoying being cows.... We are still busy with fundraising for CHOC by riding the 94.7, we are trying to break teh record for the highest fund raising target yet to allow CHOC to carry on the amazing work they do for the children who have been affected by Cancer... If anyone is able to donate, it is greatly appreciated, our givengain link is : grumpyandgiggles.givengain.org I will also be auctioning off a Single Speed Alu frame road bike once i have had it painted(taking it in today) Thanks to all in advance Mark and Meryl

  13. I will be riding in cow kit with my mrs(also in cow kit) hoping to get reseeded at regustration to ride with the rest of the herd... Otherwise i will have to drop back and start at 8...
  14. Gotta bump this for the evening tech experts to add their two cents
  15. Lol, you both beat me to it having a tough time myself
  16. Simple solution : spin wheel slowly with valve removed to get old nipple out... Will drop out easily. To insert new spoke, use a single strand of an old brake cable, push trough the nipple hole, slide to the valve hole, slide the new nipple over the cable, tie a loose knot and pull the nipple into place. Once in place, pull the knot through the nipple and hold in place with a pair of pliers and tighten onto the spoke.... Job done... Takes less than 30 seconds per nipple
  17. While there isn't a planned herd, am sure there will be many cows riding in kit.
  18. or helmets off.....
  19. This actually works out exactly, as i finished with a friend that started in IL(i was in HL) and we have been credited with the same finish time when we crossed the line together
  20. I noticed the 6 min difference...a bit annoying
  21. Just a note to the organisers :- 1. After offering shirts to pre-entries and asking the size, you did not have the decency to have a Large for me...i now have an XXL that i have NO use for...and for my Mrs we were told by a lady shouting across the tent that she could not have one for the 54km...after asking for a size on the entry...DISGUSTING 2. General starting was well organised. 3. Water points were well stocked and had nice ice cold drinks....WELL DONE.... 4. I found the finish well organised, with drinks being readily available and medals tables being visible... 5. For next year, please turn of the wind machine....it nearly killed me
  22. Holy hell.... Anyone enjoy that relentless wind... Was going well til about 70km...
  23. How will I be timed? You will need to purchase a RaceTec timing chip, if you don’t already have one. You may purchase the timing chip in the entry system, but if you would like to use it for other events, preceding the Cycle Challenge, you may arrange with RaceTec to have the timing chip ready for you at that particular event. You may contact RaceTec at 0861 846 464 or email queries@racetec.co.za NO CHIP = NO OFFICIAL RESULT = NO OFFICIAL CERTIFICATE = NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT THAT YOU HAVE DONE THE RACE. The above was taken from the current FAQ on http://www.cyclechallenge.co.za/Home/FAQCycleChallenge
  24. Last week i went there with an issue with my Garmin Edge 305...had two occassion where after charging it would not switch on....swapped it for an Edge 500...for a fee of course Best product services i have ever received...
