  1. i spoke to a guy at schapenberg on sunday who had a rotor crankset and he explained it to me! quite amazing!! if it can increase your pedaling power and eliminate the upstroke and put you straight into your powerstroke, then WOULD I BE AS COMPETITVE WITH PEDAL AND A ROTOR CRANK as a normal crank with clips? http://www.rotorbike...dence/index.htm http://1.1.1.1/bmi/www.rotorbike.com/tryQ/evidence/spacer.gif http://1.1.1.1/bmi/www.rotorbike.com/tryQ/evidence/spacer.gif http://1.1.1.1/bmi/www.rotorbike.com/tryQ/evidence/spacer.gif Who doesn’t want to finish a 1km sprint 1.6 seconds faster? ROTOR is excited to announce the publication of a new scientific study on its paradigm changing, performance boosting, oval chainrings. The study was published in the International Journal of Sports Science and Engineering by an independent Cal Poly University graduate, Christie O’Hara (who has since joined ROTOR’s competition & scientific staff). This “end-of-ride” 1km time trial study complements our previous research, showing that participants experienced reduced lactate and heart rate with a corresponding increase in both power (26.7w) and speed (0.7 kph). Interestingly, the clear performance boost Q-Rings give was present even before some slow to adapt participants felt fully comfortable riding them. “The 1km time trials were done after 45 minutes of intermediate to hard effort riding, thereby simulating race like conditions. By the time the 1km TT came around, participants weren’t fresh, but after riding on the Q-Ring they performed better than with a normal round chainring,” said O’Hara, adding “Even though the results were recorded with elite athletes, I think the Q-Rings’ performance benefits would be even greater for beginner and intermediate athletes.” The summarized results of this study, showing the Q-Ring’s clear benefits are: All Q-ring TT’s were faster, with an average gain of 1.6 sec and 0.7 km/h (1.8%). All Q-Ring TT’s generated more power, with average increase of 26.7 W (6.2%) Reduced oxygen consumption and heart rate in submaximal tests An immediate performance increase on switching from round rings to Q-Rings An immediate performance reduction on switching back to round chainrings It also appears that the more effort a cyclist exerts, the greater the benefit of Q’s http://1.1.1.1/bmi/www.rotorbike.com/tryQ/evidence/spacer.gif http://1.1.1.1/bmi/www.rotorbike.com/tryQ/evidence/spacer.gif
  2. http://www.bicycleretailer.com/product-tech/2012/11/26/650b-freight-train 26 being scraped completely by some brands is there a 14k 650b 140-150 travel bike out there??
  3. have you looked intop a 'rotor'crank they say it eleviates back pain and gives you a far more powerful stroke.. 6k for the top range one. im going to get one when i can!!
  4. strength in numbers? where!!?? tell me please , and whilte youre at it LIFE CYCLES --- you have to see it! by far the best flick i have ever seen!
  5. im going to ride the route tommorow to see if i can do the 100km, the first half is nice with my 3-4 times a week single track (its quite literally my backyard) and once you hit the top of montague pass it seems to be pretty straight and down. ill see if i can get a hold of them too.

    Done

XC you can go for a large, trail/AM go for a Medium. just my 1.5cents on what i feel. i am 1.84 and ride a scott spark medium and i love it, but i ride alot more trail than XC so the manueverability makes a big difference to me.
  8. http://issuu.com/41publishing/docs/enduro_issue001 pretty amazing! check it out
  9. my 1.5cents XC = cleats and farm roads with hardtails (very boring and repetitive ) 90% of mountain bikers and they all cant understand why people still use pedals AM/trail = fivetens and pedals and dual suspension (technical trails/rock gardens/unridden territory/some jumps) basically for the 10% of bikers who want to push their skill limits and see falling as a learning curb and screw every xc riding saddle up their colon, cleat wearing person who ridicules another rider for not being exactly like them. :cursing:
  10. be pedantic, homework homework homework homework. through all this you will find what you want then squeeze for a better price, but also by doing your homework you can save tons of cash. i have been to a few lbs' to find that some are 3k cheaper than others just on their displayed price... i am a bit evil but i dont believe in paying the sticker price for a bike over 13k or a car for that matter.... but maybe thats just me?
  11. the thing i see alot is that us here in SA seem to go nuts with over doint the components on our bikes! in europe the majority of riders take SLX and XT where here its all carbon XTR which has to be replaced far quicker and is not even close when it comes to longevity! i ride SLX and i wont ever go higher as a AM rider. its just not necessary .... better front shock would be nice though.....
  12. i think the problem with scott is that they didnt have any stock at that time, i tried to get a spark 60 and my LBS told me that they have no stock on the 60,40 and the 20. and that was about the july mark. so maybe it wasnt really a service issue but rather a stock issue,. and on the plus side your friend has a 2010 and he is probably now getting a 2013 frame ... hope he gets the twinloc aswell because then its a BIG score for him!! plus the adjustable travel!!
  13. hey mayhem, hey mayhem, what is the outer diameter measurment with your minions on? stupid question but are those the 2.7 or 2.5's? and how do you find it riding with DH tires? will they work well as all mountain tires? thanks for the help
  14. http://www.columbias...&product_id=313 I just went for the lightrain jacket and got it on SALE R270 from Columbia sport , was R550. and its breathable and give very nice rain and cold cover. i dont think you can get a completely waterproof option that is breathable!!
  15. hi guys, i have been wondering about a 650b conversion. right now as far as i know there is only one fox front that can facilitate the conversion. -- do you guys think more manufacturers will come onboard? (ebay usa has manitou and fusion that are apparently 650b) the rims are still rediculously expensive - - any idea of incoming 650b tires and rims? just a thought on the overall conversion price including front shock, just incase anyone else is wondering about it....
  16. sounds to me you have the same problem most of us have!!! our wives are 'quality time' women, read http://www.5lovelanguages.com/learn-the-languages/the-five-love-languages/ if your wives is always either sad or angry that you are leaving her to train then she is most probably of the 'quality time' love language. unfortunately the only way to make her feel that this is a good thing is to spoil her with a special outing or something that she likes to do with you..... with some consitency she might even start to encourage you to go and train!!! good luck!
  17. http://genius.scott-sports.com/ there is an entire section on the wheel size comparisons from accelaration to momentum. the 650b seems to be better thatn the 29 with trail riding and has better acceleration and casn have up to 200mm travel as apossed to less than 130mm on the 29. " TRAVEL RANGE There are currently more and longer suspension travel options available for 26" and 27.5" wheels than for 29" wheels. 29ers are still limited to designs that offer less than 130mm of travel in order to keep the cockpit height at the right geometry "
  18. for what you are doing i think (personally) you could easily get a away with the 29 team and that might be overkill for jeep track and the twinloc would be perfect for your road riding stints... check out for the 2013 range which should have landed at your LBS and if you are looking at a 2012 i would negotiate a waay better price as it is now ''old stock''
  19. well... the new scott Genius comes in 27.5 or 29. i think all you should do is get a 26 dual and just make sure the front is 650b compatible so if you really feel like it later you can convert to what i believe will be the argument deflater!! http://www.dirtragmag.com/userfiles/scottgenius-1.jpg
  20. Hi Brett, I'm interested in your deal, could you throw in free delivery? also could you please ask the scott/probike rep how will the warranty work (5year frame est, is it from date of client purchase or from date of merchant perchase?) and if i have problems with the m210 rear shoc will they replace it? hope to hear back from you soon. thanks for all your help up to now.
  21. hi The_break , thanks for the reply, had a look on cwc and damn i could spend a lifetime on that site! but no scott bikes though. thanks for the site.
  22. i think 650b should be a good one for trail/mountain! will we be getting the 650 genius range?
