Just remember guys motorists don't see a roadie. a mtber or a commuter or a singlespeed hipster or a n old school roadie or a downhiller or whatever they see a guy on a bike, he is a cyclist so thanks to this we will all be lumped with a nutcase element with a mob mentality regardless whether you ride a frikkin DH bike or a tri bike...regardless of all the lunatics in their cars that are happy to shoot each other at the slightest provocation. The problem is that people in this country are behaving like they are permanently on a knife edge or something ..I spend a lot of time on the road in my car and really the level of aggression out there on our roads is insane. I do worry that one day I might stall my car by mistake or something and end up with a bullet in my head for it ...seriously people need to relax a bit its getting a bit scary. Next time you are riding on your bike or driving your car and someone does something a little silly ..think about it ..is it really worth getting in a knot about ....... sometimes you have to just let it go ... because of this event I am going to be nervous on my way to tokai ...

OK so if I was wrong about all this dung being flung being the agenda of a certain group of Dhillers why was that posted on Tokai DH FB??? Even though they have just stated that one of them doesn't even have a DH bike? Help this is all most confusing cos as it seems to me now they are stirring purely for the hell of it ...maybe they are botanicals in disguise and are trying to sow discord amongst us?????

This is the conclusion I keep coming to. These other folks seem to me want to cover the mountain in extreme downhill trails with insane jumps etc etc which face it 90% of tokai users myself included are incapable of riding or just really not interested in spending lots of time in hospital burning up our medical aid....Really I cant fault what Deon and co have achieved there despite the botanicals ..despite idiots crashing through illegal trails and nearly flattening one of SA's most notorious fynbos nuts...despite having to contend with Sanparks etc etc etc but then what do I know, I'm to scared to even go over the bridge at Faery garden....

JCBs????? and Sanparks anyone who thinks trailbuilders will be allowed to use JCB's up there is on some very interesting drugs and must share now.....

.......and then a previously extinct flower popped up in the middle of Boomslang and Mr Rebelo and a hundred botanicals arrived and that was how mountain biking ended at tokai...guys we are guests on the mountain and we must never forget that. We need to behave as we would if we were visiting someone important... those botanicals are as passionate about their plants as we are about biking and some of them have a lot of clout. I know this is slightly off topic but just felt what with everyone jumping up and down about world class trails etc we need to remind ourselves that we are lucky to have any trails at all ..also a huge number of riders myself included are just happy to have a place to to enjoy getting a bit of exercise in the peace of the mountain away from the roads and and those dreadful smoke spewing, cyclist killing contraptions called cars, I tell you not a single ride goes by without me being really grateful for that professionally built trails or not. Finally can anyone come to the AGM? or do you have to be a member of a club?

is there a list of people eligable for nomination somewhere?

It was difficult to see exactly what it was as the roads were quite busy I can't even remember what colour it was but it was on Monday that I saw it unfortunately I was past so quickly it was only a bit later that I "thought hang on wtf was that?????" he was headed in fish hoek direction. I a bit nervous confronting arbitrary people who may be riding a stolen bike ..if you're wrong it can cause some embarrassment never mind all the racial type crap that goes with it.. hope your pal finds his Makulu that is one seriously nice bike ... he must be a tad upset... The problem is that you see this kind of thing all the time you start getting to know about bike's most normal (aka non bike lovers) don't know a Bianchi from a huffy and they also don't know when a chap in overalls is riding a R40 grand bike unfortunately those of us the bike lovers can't just run around hauling people off bikes cos you think they are stolen even if it is blatantly obvious ..very often the cops don't have a clue either....

Yes like the gardener sort chap riding a very nice DH bike along main rd by lakeside ...he was struggling a bit in the wind with that DH type gearing....

With great sadness I have decided to bail out of doing my first Argus. My wife has just had a baby and I have just had a little op and just don't seem to be recovering as fast as I would have liked and this after not riding for nearly a month as well. The other thing is with this whole Argus thing hanging over me I have found that I haven't been enjoying my riding as much as I normally do, it has required spending time on the road which I absolutely hate . funnily enough I have done 2 rides since I resigned myself to not doing the argus and the old enjoyment has come back ..guess I'm not cut out for it....ok so nuff excuses and feeling sorry for myself .. how do I go about flogging the entry and are there any rules as to how much I can ask for the ticket?
