  1. I'm assuming you had the op as well. I actually did that this morning ...it looks hilarious but it definitely seems to help. I do think I will need to get a new saddle though ..mine is ancient and I don't think it has ever been quite right for me, it just never bothered me to the extent it does now ....
  2. So here I am on the other side of a robotic radical prostatectomy. This particular nightmare started last year when I was diagnosed with Gleason 7 prostate cancer. The op seems to have fixed the cancer issue for which I am eternally grateful. My prayers go out to those who are not so lucky. First test was clear. Hopefully it stays that way. Unfortunately the op has left my body somewhat different everyone who has this op has a different experience. My post op experience wasn't great and it is only now after 3 and a half months that I am starting to feel like a human being again. The pain in my bits was absolutely horrible never mind the incontinence and I was wondering if things would ever come right. It's been quite a rough ride so to speak. I still have extremely severe ED as well and hope that comes right soon, unfortunately I had a bad reaction to the meds for the ED so I am still trying to figure that one out. Every week or so I try sit on my bike and see if things are ready and if the pain in the perineum is gone to an extent that I can ride my bike again which I am desparate to do although pre op I hadn't been riding much it's when you lose the ability to do something that it really hits you. This morning I actually got as far as riding a few metres so I am almost there ..thing is I think things have changed and I need a new saddle that supports me better in places that won't cause pain and leakage. My questions is : is there any way I can find out what will work for me, are there any people on this forum who have been through this op etc and how did they remedy the problem. Who is a good person to get advice from about this ....all bearing in mind that financially I am trashed from the combination of covid which totally did me over and going through this cancer crap.
  3. Thanks for the advice I'll get some rim tape and have a bash at it ...but I need to get new tyres as the ones on the bike are not great anymore ...
  4. Thanks for the link ...I will need to get tyres the small block eights that are on the bike are old and worn ....sigh the mission to find a set of 26inch tubeless tyres that don't bankrupt me when I'm already bankrupt from this stupid Corona crap is going to be quite a thing ...
  5. That Cannondale looks like it will cost a spot more than some Stan's and some rimtape????????????
  6. I have a Silverback stride 10 26inch that my son uses ..it's a great bike a few years old but in great shape and reliable. I want to convert it to tubeless. The rims are Alex md17 can these be converted to tubeless and if so how is it done and what sort of cost am I looking at? https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RF6nuar_m-8UxFGqyTI-Bz4lEBl1GsFv/view?usp=drivesdk
  7. And don't try keep up with your daughter that will definitely kill you????????
  8. Well I took the bike to stokes suspension works and asked for advice etc and promptly went mad ...I am getting and ardent for the back and a minion for the front both 2.4 the widest possible for the bike ???????? then we discovered that the wheel needs to be dished then we found the wheel slightly out of true then I decided to get them to clean up the bill oh well at least I've got a few days to rob a bank or sell the wheels off my car or something ????????????...oh and no one who knows me shall ever know what I spent if anyone does find out I will have to kill them ...???????????? Anyway looking really looking forward to getting the bike back and going up Tokai for the first time since the fires ... Speaking of which how does it work with riding there these days? How much is it where do you pay etc etc

  10. Thanks I've had it Jim for a long time it's been thrashed up and down Tokai many a time and as for the Mavic wheels that was a bit of a mad upgrade they were probably more than what the bike was worth????????(oh and never shall the wife find out what they cost????????????) but oh how they changed the whole dynamic of the bike it's weight was massively reduced and Handling completely changed as a result ..it was a lot faster than my skills that's for sure ..it'll be fun getting back in the saddle .. I'm get the tyres sorted then take it for a spin then see what else needs to be done .. shouldn't be much .. hopefully...
  11. I suppose the next question is who has the best prices????????
  12. I think that's what I'm going to do try find some chaoyongs for a good price I'm not bothered if they are 2.1 or 2.2 ...so the hunt begins... Tbh I don't think I'm going to have much of a choice given my crappy budget and the fact my bike is virtually an extinct dinosuar...
  13. I've been off the hub for a few years and decided to come back today ..imagine I'm in gym on the stationary bike reading this thread listening to Soundgardens The Day I tried to live.... Well I'm almost in tears .... bursting into tears in the middle of gym is not very seemly... I never knew the guy but remember his posts and humour from way back even after all this time away ..A belated RIP...
  14. https://photos.app.goo.gl/5WwnDBRzfFc4Ysqk6 Does this work? It's a picture of the bike in question..it's a bit old but it used to ride really nicely and since a new one is totally out of the question it'll have to do????
  15. Hmm you guys putting me off the crossmarks ..I'm going to have a closer look at the chaoyongs but really there's not much in the way of decent budget 26 tyres left on the market is there ..I used to have some fancy Kendall tyres on the bike before I got the monorails and they were brilliant off road but pretty shocking on the road which didn't really bother me since I didn't ride much on the road ..I forget what they were called though... The bike was faster on gravel than on tar it was truly amazing....
  16. So with a budget of R400 w tyre what am looking at? Sportsmans wharehouse have something called chaoyanyong or something what is he verdict on those?
  17. I think not being on a bike for nearly 4 years is more likely to result in a damaged face...????????
  18. Are they that bad? The old ones are monorail and they seemed ok ..please bear with me I'm like a noob all over again ..can't believe how much has changed in only a few years ...26ers seem to be virtually extinct ????
  19. How the heck do I post a picture on this? There used to be a button for attaching in my years off here it seems to have vanished..
  20. all seems pretty reasonable advice and I will probably just get crossmarks it's not like I'm planning to conquer the world or anything.. the current tyres tread is not bad but the tyres seem to be delaminating ... One thing I cannot justify is a new bike ..A. there is nothing really wrong with my old goose 26er cept maybe the front forks seem a bit soft but it's got nice wheels and gears etc .. and I'm not a big bloke so I don't need a huge bike it fits me just fine.
  21. It's been 3+ years.basically since tokai burnt down. The bike looks a bit sad and it looks like the tyres need to be replaced first. Where can I get good 26inch tubeless tyres for a good price?
  22. image.jpg VPL on bikes or ever? Happy Friday peeps. ????
