  1. I'm assuming you had the op as well. I actually did that this morning ...it looks hilarious but it definitely seems to help. I do think I will need to get a new saddle though ..mine is ancient and I don't think it has ever been quite right for me, it just never bothered me to the extent it does now ....
  2. So here I am on the other side of a robotic radical prostatectomy. This particular nightmare started last year when I was diagnosed with Gleason 7 prostate cancer. The op seems to have fixed the cancer issue for which I am eternally grateful. My prayers go out to those who are not so lucky. First test was clear. Hopefully it stays that way. Unfortunately the op has left my body somewhat different everyone who has this op has a different experience. My post op experience wasn't great and it is only now after 3 and a half months that I am starting to feel like a human being again. The pain in my bits was absolutely horrible never mind the incontinence and I was wondering if things would ever come right. It's been quite a rough ride so to speak. I still have extremely severe ED as well and hope that comes right soon, unfortunately I had a bad reaction to the meds for the ED so I am still trying to figure that one out. Every week or so I try sit on my bike and see if things are ready and if the pain in the perineum is gone to an extent that I can ride my bike again which I am desparate to do although pre op I hadn't been riding much it's when you lose the ability to do something that it really hits you. This morning I actually got as far as riding a few metres so I am almost there ..thing is I think things have changed and I need a new saddle that supports me better in places that won't cause pain and leakage. My questions is : is there any way I can find out what will work for me, are there any people on this forum who have been through this op etc and how did they remedy the problem. Who is a good person to get advice from about this ....all bearing in mind that financially I am trashed from the combination of covid which totally did me over and going through this cancer crap.
  3. I've been off the hub for a few years and decided to come back today ..imagine I'm in gym on the stationary bike reading this thread listening to Soundgardens The Day I tried to live.... Well I'm almost in tears .... bursting into tears in the middle of gym is not very seemly... I never knew the guy but remember his posts and humour from way back even after all this time away ..A belated RIP...
  4. Delete duplicate ....
  5. After the fires I never renewed my permit ..expired a few days ago. Once there kid clarity on what the hell is going on then I will renew and start riding again until then I will polish my stanchions and have wistful recollections of old tokai.... sadly I haven't even got on my bike since I probably won't ride again until tokai I open again . ..yeah I hear you saying go ride the northern suburbs trails ...I just don't have the time and the spare cash to drive out that way. I am curious about this black hill though ...but where is it ...is it legal? I also don't have the time and money for a fat fine and or court appearance either..

  9. screw the colds and little sniffles I went all out and got chickenpox from my kids this week ha top that ....I don't think I have ever been so ill. It started on Sunday night with a fever and slowly got worse on Tuesday morning I had a couple of spots starting up so I went to the doc who gave me some anti viral s and some anti inflammatory's and a shot of voltaren. On Wednesday my whole face was covered with pox in my throat frikkin everywhere but it seemed to fizzle out around my waist i could almost count the ones on my legs ... then wed night the itching ...so i medicated myself to sleep and on Friday I started to recover ...what a frikkin nightmare I'm a bit nervous about when I should start riding again though .....hells bells I hope I don't have to go through that again ..... I still look like crap with flipping sores all over my face and head.
  10. Went for a marvelous ride on thursday, today I am man down along with 2 of the kids the oldest one and wife seem to be ok ...so far. I think by the end of the week the whole of cape town will be down ....
  11. went for a lunchtime ride up to the mast today and actually took some pictures ..ran out of time so didn't quite get to the mast though ...was a nice ride ...the gravel road before it turns to tar has taken a bit of a knock though...was an interesting excercise finding a line through it ,,,
  12. I have finally decided to scrap my crappy front dérailleur as it is going out of whack way to quickly and has been the single most irritating and fiddly piece of junk all out. It is a Suntour XCR 414 and did I say it was a piece of junk oh yes I did ... anyways I did a little research on new ones and I like the idea of an S-Ram X7 or X9 but my goodness there are a few out there Questions .... have a 9 speed cassette will a ten speed FD work ok with a 9 spd cassette? Or do I have to find a 9 spd specific one? What is the diffence between High mount etc etc ? I have an X7 rear dérailleur and X5 shifters would changing to a shimano FD mess things up and would I then need to change the front shifters? Ok thats it for now ...I await the fount of Hub knowledge to come forth with answers........
  13. oh I see you're in Guateng....
  14. Kenilworth branch have a medium I think.... http://www.cycleteknix.co.za/products.php?type=Silverback-MTB
  15. my advice ..spend the extra bucks and get the stride 10 - has hydraulic discs. Once you have tried hydraulic discs you will never go back. I found a 6 month old stride 10 second hand right here on the hub for 3500 had only been ridden a few times. I been saving up for a bike for my kid so I bought that. It is in perfect nick. It has nice components ..not so fancy that you will cry if anything gets wrecked. You can upgrade as the components wear out which is where the addiction gets serious......
  16. those Titan frames are really pretty...Thinking about getting my kid a Titan
  17. ok so after a bit of a mission I have got the Joe's ecoseal. Bike + in constantia apparently Olympic in claremont have it as well. Will finally be setting up my new tubeless tyres this weekend ..hopefully today.Just gotta find a floor pump for a price that does not make me want to cry.

  19. well the first time I heard Nirvana was at a party in Trill rd observatory in about 92.... I think those days are a bit blurry I was twenty years old and high as a frikken kite ..there was a huge tub of punch ..mmm obs party punch.... you can just imagine what was in that punch ... then over the speakers at high volume comes this song ....here we are now ..entertain us.. the truely amazing thing is that I can remember anything at all ..I was a real wastoid back then ..a space kadett of note... but that was a long time ago 22 years so that makes me ...
  20. I cannot imagine though what curt would have made of being inducted to the hall of fame .....
  21. what about the neverending Pearl Jam vs Nirvana debate ...that used to get very heated. I wonder if Curt would have aged in as dignified manner as Eddie has. Thing is that PJ shunned the media after Curt went and capped himself and in a way it allowed them to evolve into what they are today ...maybe they don't have hits like they used to but every album they release is a gem and they are a top notch live act that should be on every music lovers bucket list. As for Nirvana both Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic are accomplished musicians but who knows what would have happened to Nirvana if Curt had not died. Word is that he was going to get out of music altogether except then his dear wife decided to kil him... thats one of the myriad theories out there and there are a few..... makes for interesting reading though
  22. I found a sealant with none of the harmfull ingredients if I can get my hands on it I will give it a try... http://www.joes-no-flats.com/?categoryId=12881
  23. funny how 20 years on with those of us who were around and listening to Nirvana back in the day now well into the 40's still get so heated and passionate when discussing them....did we ever grow up?
